I assume you're refferring to Leviticus 18:22. I don't know what you're reffering to by Child Abuse, could you please clear this up? Now, I may not believe in stoning people, but I do believe in chastising them, in order to help them learn from their sin, and grow away from it. Sometimes it isn't the practice behind it, as much as it is the thought. |

I want to thank you for being a part of my Forget-me-nots and marigolds And all the things that don't get old Is it legal to do this? I surely don't know. It's the only way I have learned to express myself through other peoples' descriptions of life I'm afraid I'm alone and entirely useless | |

It's ok, I probably should have looked further, but yeah. However, with this, cursing doesn't mean, expletive them to expletive, or any derivation thereof. It means trying to kill them. Through legit, or non-legit means. (I.e. witchcraft.) |

Which I find completely idiotic. They would kill people who would practice witchcraft, but they could do no harm. Unless they went on a killing spree or something. But anyway, thy would die either way. If they found someone who was a witch, they could throw them in a lake with them tied up in chains. If they floated back to the surface, they would be dubbed witches, and killed. If they drowned, well they would drown and die. Thousands of women, men and children died from that.

witchcraft has a strange tendency to stop working whenever you try to test it. |

I can assure you it's quite safe. Former magician James Randi has had numerous methods tested throughout the decades, and none have ever worked. I myself have walked under countless ladders and seen black cats walk in front of me, yet I'm still one of the luckiest people on the face of the earth. |

Oh I can think of a couple good reasons to read the Bible (none of which have any intention of converting you). Understanding the perspective of others Understanding history/literature/poetry more completely Reading and knowledge for its own sake Debating more effectively That's four. Do you need a fifth? if so, I'm going to throw in "for the lulz!" I don't know where on earth cursing and killing became synonymous, but I thought the idea was that a literal interpretation was the correct one. Unlike other occasions where loss in translation may occur (eg. beginning/government) I'm quite sure that there was a clear distinction between the words for killing and cursing in hebrew. I'm also quite sure that if they had meant patricide or matricide they would have said that. While there was a practice of using the "incorrect" word quite deliberately because of a sense of inpropriety (eg. Job's wife suggestion was often written as "bless God and die" rather than allow the scribe to inadvertently curse God), I really don't think that applies here, as while the ancient Hebrews loved their euphemisms killing is hardly a dirty word, and cursing is something very different (and at that time, arguably worse). As for witchcraft. I'd be against people practising it, but not because of any power it may have, but instead the power it claims to have but doesn't. If a few cards, however, helps you put things into perspective, or see things from a different angle, then so be it. I'd just suggest that you could get that from any relative or friend anyway. 1. I already can see people's perspective of things. I don't need to read it for that. 2. I have no idea how that would even help. ![]() 3. I read A LOT. I do not need to read the Bible to just read. 4.Oh, I can debate, but I don't have to debate just about the Bible. If I ever need to debate about the Bible, or god, I will read it. 5. lulz?

1. but do you understand them? 2, You simply cannot understand Shakespeare properly without a working knowledge of scripture. I could reel off a bajillion different writers, artists and poets for whose work Knowledge of the Bible is a must. 3. you read a lot. read one book more. 4. the bible-related debate part of the website would imply bible related debate. 5. yeh, like yucks, just more lulzy |

Oh. 1. I can if I want to, but if I don't, then I usually don't. 2. Ah, we'll see about that. 3. I really don't even want to read it 4.Most of them don't really have people debating ABOUT the bible, and I will stay out of any thread that does. 5. Read "Oh." |
