I never thought of it that bad.

I've never read Stephen King however.

My history teacher always said, if history was a movie, it'd be rated R.

Or NC-17.

I think what they meant was the yoked part should be ignored if the stoned part is.

But then again, if these parts can be ignored so easily why can not the rest be?
Life is beautiful, love heals, people come through.

Reason, compassion and love comes first. Everything else is secondary. Except for Skittles. - And emperor Cheezy! Posted Image

That's true, if those parts are ignored, can't the rest be?

So just ignore the Bible as a whole?

Take up Vamp's stance?

Haven't we been over this before?

The Bible has good messages in it, and some of the rougher parts are in there, because serving a perfect God requires perfect people. However, the idea is to remove the sin, not necessarily the person, as Jesus demonstrated with the Adulterous woman.

Hey. :(

It's not a bad thing. You say it like it's a horrible thing to do. It's not! I'm sticking to my beliefs! Give me five reasons why an Atheist like me should read the Bible if it has no power at all to convert me!

Also, I don't see how we could be perfect. There has to be evil to be good. There needs to be balance. I'm not saying we should start gangs and start shooting at people, but we can't always do good. We'd go insane!

Ah, but there always is evil.
Evil in our hearts, in our minds.
Who needs shooting people, when you can be angry at your brother for borrowing your car, and running a few red lights?
Why do you think the Jew's sacrificed animals, daily?
They knew they could never be perfect, and so they brutally killed millions of animals, to try and cleanse themselves from a sin that perpetrated their very hearts and soul.

And I'm sorry Vamp, I was merely making an allegory, to the position we had seemed to come to consensus on.
I'll try to be more respecting of your beliefs.

1.cause you want to
2.cause its Gods word
3.cause its living
4.cause it has power
5.cause God speaks to you through it

Okay, I've never read the bible nor do I plan on it, but from what I gather (forgive me if I am mistaken), there's a newer part that people read more often and an older one. Much of the older one is ignored because it's cruel and unusual but people still pick bits of it and stick with them. Example: the anti-gay part everyone quotes is on the same page of something saying child abuse is a-ok.

What confuses me is who went through the bible and said what is and is not applicable to the world today, what is more widely taught. I'm sure a lot of casual christians don't even know the bible says all these bizarre things and yet they preach about how it is a good book and that it's all factual. If that makes sense.
