@concolor rather than attempt to bad mouth my character why dont you respond to the point i was making-and dont try to say i dont understand and i really want to understand its just your no explaining it so i can understand-which is what you seem to do when you have no answers

@conradw-a little about me....... read on if your interested if not skip this bit-
just so you know now- i dont think using grammar is an extravagance-i am just not good at it- regretbly spending the majority of my high school years drunk, high or playing sport.
PRAISE GOD i was able to matriculate and complete a 3 year diploma (without learning to spell) thru Gods strength -so i can now put a little prefix on my buisness card :P

anyway back to the topic whats your definition of gibberish?

@ARAZEC: I was not bad mouthing your character, I was bad mouthing your posts and their lack of clarity.

I think it is rather obvious that I don't have an answer to a question I don't understand. I may be a smart guy, but that does not make me a mind-reader, that also does not mean I'm good at understanding what people are trying to tell me. I don't think MENSA-members are known for their social skills.

You do have a habit of once in a while throwing around a bunch of scientific sounding terms I assume you've more or less copy-pasted from somewhere (like the Fourier transform post you had). I thought you were kinda sweet going through all that trouble just to show me you could find fancier words than I had used (thereby showing me that maybe I'm sometimes using a pretentious amount of fancy words). I rarely agree to your posts being true, but I always assume them to be sincere.

Definition of gibberish:
Quote from The Free Dictionary:

gibˇberˇish (jbr-sh)
n.
1. Unintelligible or nonsensical talk or writing.
2.
a. Highly technical or esoteric language.
b. Unnecessarily pretentious or vague language.
Now, I rarely find your posts to be pretentious, so you can probably disregard that part of the definition. I would also remind you that if I find something to be gibberish, that simply means that to ME it is unintelligible. That does not make it universally gibberish to everyone, but it will make it gibberish to me. Sometimes I try to ask probing questions to find out what you mean when you write posts I don't understand, other times I give up and just think "she probably meant something else and if I try to guess what it is and address what I think she meant, then at least I could get lucky and we can move on". So far this seems to have gone well, unless you've consistently overlooked all my wrong guesses in at attempt at being overbearing.

Remember that I am Norwegian. My understanding of the English language comes mostly from textbooks and writing. If you express yourself "orally" through writing I may not understand it.

Here is a sampling of what I would call gibberish, and how I have translated these in my mind:
Quote:

however the things you are claiming happened that you have not observed are so improbable maths scientistics say the odds are almost nill -look at the complex human brain compared to the blob that you say decided one day for no reason to split into two and "seal its self "
"evolution as a general process has somehow an overall calculable probability, which is almost nil. Primitive cells were sentient and could divide at will. They are to be compared with the human brain."
Quote:

But while your at it could you please explain how A BLOB OF CHEMICALS evolved sense of humour?
"Primitive cells, from one day to the other, spontaneously gained a sense of humor and everything else that such a sense requires"

Now, I don't know how polarity and magnetism of rocks has to do with much. (That still doesn't explain the possibility if lead was already in the rock sample,) But right now, I want you to feel all smart and explain it to me.

@Luemas: magnetic polarity is an alternative method for dating. The magnetic poles (north and south) are constantly moving about (and slightly varying in strength) and every few million years they switch places. Any ferromagnetic rock (rocks with a remaining magnetic field) that is deposited will have a polarity that is directed by the earth's magnetic field. By measuring the strength and direction of a given rock's magnetic polarization one can determine how the magnetic field was when it was deposited and thereby calculate it's age.

ARZEC, I give this long and tedious rant about my difficulties understanding your posts, and the very first thing you do is to post what seems to me to be random fragments of your thought?

No one gets my nickers in a knot like you do ARAZEC :( (I think I got that one at least)

But why are you suddenly talking about "the giving God the Glory bit"? That was something you were talking about with conradw, and not me (right?)

When you write one thing, and then suddenly jump to another without showing me what you think in between I get lost and confused.

Example of my impression of the situation:
Directions to the gas station as ARAZEC has them in her head:

Start by the big fountain, then go northwards until you cross the river, take a left and then the next right. Stop at the old lady's house and ask if the low road is flooded today, in that case you must take the high road. They both lead to the intersection with a pine tree in the middle. The gas station is just 200m westvard from this intersection. Remember to use the left entrance to the station.
What Concolors reads in ARAZEC's post:

Start by the big fountain, ask the old lady if the low road is flooded today, Remember to use the left entrance to the station.
What Concolors understands from ARAZEC's post:

Okay, I'm at the fountain but I can't see an old lady here. There is an old man here, should I ask him? Well you said to ask the old lady, and there's no ladies here. What, she's in her house? I'm at the fountain where you dropped me off, are you saying this is her house or is her house elsewhere? Are you saying the old lady is living in the fountain? Hello, ARAZEC? What do you mean that's a dumb question? Well I'm TRYING to find the gas station, darn it! No I'm not mad at you. I said damn IT, not damn YOU! Hello, ARAZEC? A pine tree? Are we talking about the gas station now or something else? ...

well if the both roads lead to the petrol station no big deal she wasnt home  and everyone knows men dont ask men for directions so why bother to ask the obvious? duh
u just hadta find the bloody tree ! how many intersections with a tree in middle can there be -at 200m you can smell the petrol from there!
ill be praying for you even if you dont beleive in prayer being real and only as in exsisting for me because you cant beleive in it enough to see any rational proof of prayer by a scientist you dont personally know who uses gibberish you look up in a text book.

so dont act as if you dont know what i am on about :D

I know that you want me to believe in the same things as you do, and that is part of your motivation for talking to me.

That does not mean that I automatically understand your posts :)

no its not a pride thing Concolor that i want you to beleive in the same things i do not at all
its like theres this minefield and im standing over waving at my friends and it all looks harmless the grass is green theres sunshine-ppl wander off here and there but its peacefull looking and serene.
untill without notice BAMD obliverated theres blood and guts and its ugly and before you know it there goes another and now ppl are scared and im over the other side and waving frantically cause i just made it to safety cause of this cross and then i remember theres a map but no ones interested in the map thety just keep going their own way untill some ppl figure out if they jump on top of someone else theyve got a better chance of surviving so ppl start climbing on top of one another and thats how they get around but everyones doing it some ppl build mountains of ppl and those closest to the ground start to really suffer with the heavy burden and every now and again it gets quiet untill an explosion collapses everything but these ppl have forgotten their way so they get angry and start killing each other and evey now and again another bomb goes off so the ones that arnt killing get confused too cause they thought if they just didnt do bad theyd be alright-and so they dont know that someones working underground setting these traps for them and all the while-

*slight rant*

:ermm: :ermm: yeah anyway Gods the one that saves :D thank God its not my job :)

A HA! So I'm not the only one who misunderstands posts! That is not what I meant at all. It seems that we actually have a two-way communication problem here, I thought it was only I who didn't understand you.

I know that it's not a pride thing. You want me to believe in what you do because you think that is the only thing that can save me, and you care enough about me to want to help me to be saved. I never implied anything else in my post.

BUT that is how you read it. And that means that I have not done my job well enough of communicating my message to you. I have failed to convey my message clearly and that is something I need to work on.

But right now I've gotta go, so I'll have to talk to you on this later.

(Oh, and nice metaphor with the map. Would you believe that I feel a similar way only that in my mind I'm the one with the map)

well would you beleive not long after that post i went to sleep and i dreamed that there were other ppl who started digging under the ground looking at the dead things for answers and the evil thing setting the mines let them dig and always hid from them untill they got blown up too and then others after them copied those ppl and would look at the dead ppls remains and get even more confused.....

You want to hear the sad thing Conc, I thought of the answer to that within seconds.
Of course it's all hypothetical, but then again, couldn't the same be said of the polarmagneticwhatchamacallit dating?
What if, there was a time, long long ago, when there was a uber continent. This, continents name, was Pangea.
On this continent lived humans, and animals and they had an ok life.
But they were sinful, and aroused God's wrath by looking to creation for answers not creator, and he found only one righteous man. And this righteous man, he would spare him. And blah blah blah Noah's Ark.
But if you read into it, it says the Fountains of the Deep burst forth.
Imagine Pangea. Imagine Founts of the Deep inside of it.
Imagine a giant Water Spout all over, until it seperated the Continents, and caused a giant massive flood.
Now this, would have caused a great deal of erosion among stone and fossil, being misplaced as it was tossed high into the air, and carried wherever the current led it.
And all the different currents lead to one point, Hell's Creek, where the conflicting Polarity of the Rocks piled up on each other, burying animals and who knows what else in it.

Your thoughts.

@ARAZEC: Yes I would believe you had that dream :)

@Luemas: Do I understand you correctly that you mean that all the present rock formations formed before Pangaea (while making Pangaea), and that these were later broken up and restacked due to continental drift? And that after Pangaea was wormed there were no more rocks formed by volcano eruptions or depositions in the sea?

I must admit that I find that less plausible than the idea that the different geologic strata are in fact deposited on top of each-other over millions of years. We can observe rock formation today from volcano eruptions and depositions, and these rocks have the same characteristics as the ones we find several layers down into the ground. This would imply that if your hypothesis is to be correct, then these processes must have been going on while forming Pangaea, then took a break, then suddenly starting again just before we started recording these events so that it would look like they were going on all the time.

Also, All the minerals everywhere on the planet would have to be stacked in such a way that all their layers would have a magnetic polarization AND a different ratio of all the isotope pairs used for radiometric dating (they are not accounted for in you hypothesis) to not only make it give a precise appearance in one place (like Hells Creek) to be deposited by various processes over millions of years, but also to be consistent with every other formation in existence.

That's what I think about plausibility. How about falsifiability? Which predictions does your hypothesis give which are different from the current theory and can be used to falsify one of them?

Well, considering how I still don't know what particle magnet dating is, you're asking me to look at the evidence, and reconstruct my hypothesis.
Well, considering how mankind hasn't had recorded history for over 6,000 years, it would be hard to know how the poles shift and whatnot.
We can guestimate with what we see know, but really, the change wouldn't be so much I don't think.
But then again, If we have one major current bringing different rocks from their original same point via the same current depositing them in the same place, wouldn't that produce a similar effect?
And are there any volcanos in Hell Creek?
