I thought we were talking about porn being a sin or not. Sin is a religious topic. We are discussing religion. Tadah! (Yeah it's a stretch, but the discussion moved there naturally, and this wouldn't be the first time a discussion strayed a bit in this forum) |

um no silly we are not discussing in porn is a sin or not. IT IS. Sin is an act of doing something wrong. No matter if you are a believer of not everyone knows what sin is. We all know when we sin our hearts feel it. Like when you lie you body reacts to your dishonesty. Heart rate begins to increase and body moments occur. And you know what you seem to know a lot about Mythology and ill give u props for that but i think you should be studying about the God that made you instead of all those fake Gods.

Sin is violating the commandments of a specific Holy Law. The act of doing something wrong is called "the act of doing something wrong". I do not think there is necessarily a one-to-one mapping between what would be considered a sin in a specific religion and what I would consider to be wrong. Examples: Some religions thinks eating pork is a sin, yet I don't think it's wrong to eat pork. Some religions do not consider it a sin to forcefully impose one's own views upon others, but I still think it's wrong. And what I know about mythology could be easily topped by 5 minutes of web-searches, but thanx anyway ![]()
I agree, but how do I find the difference between a fake and a real God? |

Besides, Homer was very imaginative, I mean he came up with very logical conclusions to his people about life and how it worked. Sure it was wrong, but if you think about it, coming from his background, it's amazing. But yes, I have to agree with solid about sin. Sin is missing the mark of God's perfection. |

Yes, a lot of the old Greeks were amazing thinkers. If only they had bothered to check their ideas with the real world, they could've expanded knowledge and technology a lot more than they did. (Which was already pretty good) |

Never read it back-to-back, I always drop off halfway through the Numbers. I usually take a more topical approach and have a nice study-Bible with cross-references for that. As I have never met anyone who follows is word by word, I've spent more time studying how people interpret it and why, rather than attempting to make my own interpretation of it (I tried that with the Koran and it seems no Muslims agree with my interpretations of it). |

Actually I'm making dinner, but good guess ![]() Though it sounds like an interesting endeavor that would undoubtedly frustrate us both to the brink of insanity, I have a few questions: 1. Why the Bible, why not some other Holy Book? I realize you value the Bible more than the alternatives, but I really don't see why I should dedicate so much time to a book that to me seems like one of many other similar books? 2. If we go through it together, that would mean that we in some way talk about or discuss each chapter on the way (otherwise I could just read it on my own again). Knowing myself, this would take much longer time than just a few years. We would not be done with Genesis even after the first year. Though I would much appreciate to study religious texts with you, there must be a realistic way in which it could be done. |

That is just something you are going to have to experience because you will know in your heart if your getting the TRUTH but idk about you since you cleary havnt read the bible yet. What you think might be real but you have to have the knowlegde to be able to distuiguish the fake from the real. |

Well, I've met a guy (I actually have) who has read both the Bible (back-to-back, not chaotic and random as I have) and a bunch of other books. He told me that he knew in his heart that the Koran was the one true word of God. What would you tell him? |

I would ask him if he wanted to pray about it. because he believes in a God of the world. And it doesnt matter if youve read the bible back to back or not it all depends if you take any of it in. He could have read the bible with doubt and disbelief just reading it to say he has. |
