You THINK you have your own "free will" but your wrong. We are all nothing but bags of dirts a.k.a dirtbags we were created from a mound of literal dirt that God spit on and there you have the man. Our true meaning of life is to have a relationship with him to glorify him in all ways. This life of earth is a test. To see if your humble enough to bow before the one and true God who brought you into this world. Who knew you before the foundation of the earth. If you a really a christian you would live after his true will not your own. Sure God knows the desires of your heart and wants to fulfill them, but if the desires of your heart arent of God then you need to prioritize your life towards him. |

1 “People know where to mine silver and how to refine gold. 2 They know where to dig iron from the earth and how to smelt copper from rock. 3 They know how to shine light in the darkness and explore the farthest regions of the earth as they search in the dark for ore. 4 They sink a mine shaft into the earth far from where anyone lives. They descend on ropes, swinging back and forth. 5 Food is grown on the earth above, but down below, the earth is melted as by fire. 6 Here the rocks contain precious lapis lazuli, and the dust contains gold. 7 These are treasures no bird of prey can see, no falcon’s eye observe. 8 No wild animal has walked upon these treasures; no lion has ever set his paw there. 9 People know how to tear apart flinty rocks and overturn the roots of mountains. 10 They cut tunnels in the rocks and uncover precious stones. 11 They dam up the trickling streams and bring to light the hidden treasures. 12 “But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? 13 No one knows where to find it, for it is not found among the living. 14 ‘It is not here,’ says the ocean. ‘Nor is it here,’ says the sea. 15 It cannot be bought with gold. It cannot be purchased with silver. 16 It’s worth more than all the gold of Ophir, greater than precious onyx or lapis lazuli. 17 Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold. 18 Coral and jasper are worthless in trying to get it. The price of wisdom is far above rubies. 19 Precious peridot from Ethiopia[a] cannot be exchanged for it. It’s worth more than the purest gold. 20 “But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? 21 It is hidden from the eyes of all humanity. Even the sharp-eyed birds in the sky cannot discover it. 22 Destruction and Death say, ‘We’ve heard only rumors of where wisdom can be found.’ 23 “God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found, 24 for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens. 25 He decided how hard the winds should blow and how much rain should fall. 26 He made the laws for the rain and laid out a path for the lightning. 27 Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly. 28 And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding frig i love the bible....thats from Job |

As far as I've seen, the Bible is not entirely clear on this point, quite a few prophets etc. have been labeled as righteous in the Bible as displayed in this video: WARNING: The maker of this video does not think the Bible is the infallible word of God, and the purpose of the video is to make fun of the inconsistent use of "righteousness" in the Bible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0wYL5-VqBU |

@ARAZEC: Why does God need to see (as in discover) wisdom and evaluate it, if he made everything and knows everything? |

I disagree. We are not bags of dirt. We are made of star stuff. It took THREE GENERATIONS of stars to make the stuff you're made from. You are a way for the universe to know itself. The will of God is for us to love one another. His greatest gift is love. I try to love all people as it is said: "Every one of us is precious in the cosmic perspective. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another." If I don't have free will, discussing this is pointless. The god you describe is an egomaniac, and enjoys the praise of people he is forcing to worship him. In that respect, Luemas is more worthy of praise: precisely because he's secure enough in himself not to need his ego stroked all the time. It is a fairly deceitful god that would make us think we had free will when we didn't. My priorities are found generally in the notion of Do unto others. I'm guessing yours are too: you believe that I don't see the light in the same way you do and you hope that the scales are lifted from my eyes. Why? I suppose its because you'd hope someone would show you the light if you were in my position. See, you're not such a bad person after all. In fact, you're lovely! Finally, there are plenty of righteous ppeople. Sure they don't always do what's right. But they try and for the most part they succeed.

There are only 2 things that we can steal from God and thats Praise and worship(1) and our Tithes(2). God never forces us to do this he tells us to in his living word. I am just obedient to the one who is my everything. There is none worthy of any praise no matter what we do on this earth. We are here to glorify everything we do that is Godly to God and him alone. |

God wants us to humble ourselves to him. To swallow the pill called pride to show that we cant do anythign without him. God knows all the desires of your heart, Thats why God tells u to ask him for your desires to be fulfilled. Why do we have to ask God for our desires to be fulfilled if he already knows you ask? Because God knows that asking for something is one of the hardest things for a human to do because of our pride. We like to see ourselves as self dependent. But when you come to the lord and ask him that your desires be fulfilled in complete humility then you shall find what your asking for. |

@solidrockcorps: I interpreted the text from ARAZEC a little differently. I thought of it more as regarding wisdom, and it's origin. The thing I wondered was that, as far as I read it, the texts says that God found wisdom and examined it. If God is the source of all wisdom, I find it a little strange that he needs to find and examine it as if he had never seen it before. |

@Conc its written like that for our benefit *Glad ur reading it. The Book of Job begins with the devil making a bet with God Go figure.... The Devils like-this "man" (creation) you created he only loves you for what he can get and for his own comfort and Gods like no theres this bloke Job tjhat will come thru no matter what the go is. So anyway its a good read-heres another bit....this time its Job talking his lost everything and now he is lossing his health (this bits from The Message Bible so its written in more colloquial language ) The Pain Never Lets Up 1-8"But no longer. Now I'm the butt of their jokes— young ruffians! whippersnappers! Why, I considered their fathers mere inexperienced pups. But they are worse than dogs—good for nothing, stray, mangy animals, Half-starved, scavenging the back alleys, howling at the moon; Homeless guttersnipes chewing on old bones and licking old tin cans; Outcasts from the community, cursed as dangerous delinquents. Nobody would put up with them; they were driven from the neighborhood. You could hear them out there at the edge of town, yelping and barking, huddled in junkyards, A gang of beggars and no-names, thrown out on their ears. 9-15 "But now I'm the one they're after, mistreating me, taunting and mocking. They abhor me, they abuse me. How dare those scoundrels—they spit in my face! Now that God has undone me and left me in a heap, they hold nothing back. Anything goes. They come at me from my blind side, trip me up, then jump on me while I'm down. They throw every kind of obstacle in my path, determined to ruin me— and no one lifts a finger to help me! They violate my broken body, trample through the rubble of my ruined life. Terrors assault me— my dignity in shreds, salvation up in smoke. 16-19 "And now my life drains out, as suffering seizes and grips me hard. Night gnaws at my bones; the pain never lets up. I am tied hand and foot, my neck in a noose. I twist and turn. Thrown facedown in the muck, I'm a muddy mess, inside and out. What Did I Do to Deserve This? 20-23 "I shout for help, God, and get nothing, no answer! I stand to face you in protest, and you give me a blank stare! You've turned into my tormenter— you slap me around, knock me about. You raised me up so I was riding high and then dropped me, and I crashed. I know you're determined to kill me, to put me six feet under. 24-31 "What did I do to deserve this? Did I ever hit anyone who was calling for help? Haven't I wept for those who live a hard life, been heartsick over the lot of the poor? But where did it get me? I expected good but evil showed up. I looked for light but darkness fell. My stomach's in a constant churning, never settles down. Each day confronts me with more suffering. I walk under a black cloud. The sun is gone. I stand in the congregation and protest. I howl with the jackals, I hoot with the owls. I'm black-and-blue all over, burning up with fever. My fiddle plays nothing but the blues; my mouth harp wails laments." |

I know I'm being the devil's advocate here, but I would sort of have expected God to be the bigger man here. Why does he let Satan lead him on into torturing a righteous man? |

Uh Conrad, God isn't an egomaniac. An egomaniac is someone who considers themselves better than they are. GOD DESERVES ALL OUR PRAISE! HE IS PERFECT. |

I honestly don't understand what you are talking about. I think Shakespear is worthy of praise. I think Ghandi and Che Guevara, Watson and Crick, Jenner, and Salk are worthy of praise. In fact, I believe a lot of people are worthy of praise. To say that God alone is worthy of praise makes me wonder if you actually appreciate what your fellow man has done to improve your life. I've got better things to do with my time than spend it prostating myself towards your egocentric image of God. I'm not so sure God deserves any praise: respect maybe, but not praise. If you were omnipotent and you made a pretty picture, would you expect praise? What if instead of a pretty picture you made malaria, how about now? Does God actually use his power to reduce suffering in the world? Well, even if you argue he does (which you could), he doesn't reduce it as much as he could. Norman Borlaug isn't even omnipotent and he contributed to save over a billion lives by feeding the hungry. Now, are you telling me that he doesn't deserve any praise? I don't get why thou doth mention paying tithes. Have we suddenly been transported to the middle ages incedentally: solidrockcorps, you're pretty amazing too. |
