You are not God. Do not speak like you are. Nobody has any idea whatsoever what he/she is like. AT ALL.
Well I may be getting old... but I've still got a few arguments up my sleeve.

Part of the debacle on this site is about the validity of the word. Now, let's take for an instant that it is true, and all of the repercussions that has.

If it is God's word, wouldn't we learn about God from how he speaks? What he says to us, and the tone for that matter, give us an insight into his personality. And a relationship shows more and more than his word can.

Besides, from what you said, it would be an easy matter to scratch it due to those who are in heaven, those who are living in the presence of God.

But, not if there is not a Heaven. Or a God for that matter.

Also, I very seriously doubt anybody has spoken to God. Or Heard him. Do you believe everything in the Bible, Luemas?

Speaking to God is simply prayer, but I assume you mean talking with God as one would chat with a schoolfriend or a coworker. Whether this is likely or not depends solely on how close one is to God.

I have heard God's voice. Whether you believe I have or not is not something I ought to take issue with.

Believeing everything in the Bible is a bad question to ask. If we take the Bible as a historical document, there are some inconsistencies. For instance, the Godpel of Mark mentions the incorrect high priest when Saul, the king of Israel, was pursuing David (Mark says Abiathar, but Abiathar was actually the high priest's son who became high priest during the reign of King David). If we take it as a scientific document, there are certainly some parts which are not literally true, as when the Bible mentions the "four corners of the earth". The earth is a sphere (which, btw, the Bible also states), but the four corners are most likely a reference to the four points of a compass. To compare, how many winds are there? Since wind is just moving air as a result of air currents (which the Bible also says), yet we humans categorize them by which direction they come from. Thus, a west wind for one person may be a south wind for his friend.

Overall, the Bible is a spiritual document, and should be treated first and foremost as such.

Now, about jealousy. Say your boyfriend/girlfriend is growing distant from you, and you find out that it is because he/she has found someone he/she sees as better than you. You would get jealous because you think that you're better than that other person and want your boyfriend/girlfriend back. Similarly, God created humans to have a fulfilling relationship with Him. When we worship idols made of gold, silver, ivory, wood, LCD, and plasma, we don't spend that time growing closer to Him. Watching hours of TV a day has no ultimate purpose; take my freshman year of college as an example. I watched TV whenever I could and got a GPA of 1.3 when I could have spent all that time studying to get a better GPA. It's taken me two years to get my GPA high enough to get off academic probation. When we don't grow closer to Him, we're spending time with something else. He wants us back so we can understand the ecstasy of being with Him and to be with Him as much as we can.

Now, if we are wrong and the Bible is a work of lies comparable to the Book of Mormon and L. Ron Hubbard's books on Scientology, then the purpose of life is to live it up and do whatever we can to satisfy ourselves, there truly is nothing after death, and everyone continues on living its self-destructive path. If Christians are wrong, then we're wrong. You know that movie "Religilous" when a guy dressed as Jesus asks the host to consider what if he was wrong. Immediately the host asked him the same thing and (from the previews, at least) the guy dressed as Jesus had no answer.

if u actually read the Bible, u will know wat we r talking about and y we r confident in wat we r saying. u will also read about wat God is like. so, b4 u say something, research it so u know it's true, like we r doing. i'm sure most of us have our Bibles open

and may i remind u, u r not God either

On the Contrary. It is a perfectly reasonable question to ask. It is their belief, if they believe everything. I was asking Luemas, so he may believe it.

That is also true. There are indeed inconsistencies.

Very true. But one should not speak like they are God because they are not. They know not of what he is like, no matter what the Bible says. You may believe it, but do you know it is true? No. I do respect your beliefs, but you have to respect mine as well for this to work.
You have sass. Love it. ;)
