Amen

The Koran has loads of actual events. The flight to Medina? The return to Mecca? Most holy texts are packed with actual events. And do you really want to fire up a discussion about inconsistencies in the Bible?

Firstly, eyewitness records are hardly a source to be trusted as they are both highly dependent on the emotional state and the preconceptions of the witness. Witnesses can also be fooled by group suggestion into believing they've all experienced events that may not have taken place. A persons memory is also a poor record of history as any experience will be mixed with imagination and colored by information the individual receives from others. This is a serious problem in many trials that relies on evidence from eyewitnesses.

Secondly, if such a record is transferred by the process of word-of-mouth, credibility further drops as these effects will be multiplied by every link in the chain (ever played chinese whispers?).

When something is written down it is easier to establish what the original content was.
I only agree with one thing you said here. You cant trust eyewitness's because you have NO FAITH. Of course you wont believe anything but the lord our God tells us to walk by faith and not by sight. Im sorry if youve never been able to experience the God i know. But i have seen Signs Wonders and Miracles.

One who has faith in Allah can trust the eyewitnesses of Muhammads teachings. They have seen Signs, Wonders and Miracles. Yet they have faith in a different God than yours. Why do you think your faith leads you to a more correct path then their faith leads them to?

Because for one, I don't believe in a God that demands the blood of those who disagree with my doctrine. Now I haven't read the Koran, but I have read the Bible, and haven't found any inconsistencies.
So why don't you say some, besides the undependability of eyewitnesses, who hold in a court of law :P Atleast they do in the states.

Actually, the Koran is a lot less bloodthirsty than the Bible. If you want some fun inconsistencies I could always ask you which of the two separate creations in Genesis is your favorite :P

Ask away
but try to do it in real time-so its a fair debate and from your own retained experiance or knowledge and not the regurjitation of a quick blurb from a quick internet search :)

Hmm yes. The last I checked there was one creation.
I'm curious what the other was.

The oldest one, as far as I've been told, is the one in Genesis 2:4 where all is desert and God lets water up from the earth before creating a man (Adam) out of dust, then plants, then animals, then Eve out of one of Adams ribs.

The younger one is told in Genesis 1:1, where God first creates the sea and then divides it to make land, he then makes plants, animals and finally both man and women at the same time.

Please ask your local theologian for a critical historical interpretation of the Bible.

Looks like you and I also have a bit of a different view on what's fair or not. Though I enjoy real-time conversations as they are much more like a regular conversation, I do not find it to be the best alternative when it comes to critical discourse of an important subject. Remember that fast talking and quick thinking are the hallmarks of a used-car salesman, not a seeker of knowledge.

Do you really think your posts are so shallow and uninteresting that they do not require time to be reflected upon and explored? Do you think the same of my posts? The quicker one needs to think, the more emotions supplants rational thoughts and the easier it gets to both make and fall for logical fallacies and misleading formulations of one's views. I for one am not in any way impervious to any of these.

Ah, not really trying to promote Allah, just continued on a discussion with ARAZEC on why she preferred the Bible rather than the Koran. I interpret her answer to be "because Jesus seems cooler in the Bible".

Actually I'd rather be promoting the ol' Norse religion Åsatru. Simply because it doesn't get much cooler than Thor and Odin (often called Wutan).
