You'll have to bear with me throughout this.

First Question: Did Jesus die to free us from our sins?

Give as long or short an answer you like.

I know you're going to response to that in a way that is the Devil's advocate would.
So I'm going to also play the devil's advocate. (Oh I love it!)
What if he didn't?
I believe him to have, but I'm playing a fun game!

Sorry Luemas, I'm not playing devil's advocate, at least not yet.

Next thing, I want to know (again, answer as long or as briefly as you want to), is this: Is this offer of pardon unconditional, and does it apply to all sins?

Just to save time (and also because its a related question). What do we need to do to partake in this expunging of sins? (for example accepting Jesus as Lord? Baptism?)

We simply need to accept Jesus as Lord for one.
But that's only part of it, you're sins are forgiven, but to really follow him, you must live as him, take up his life that he gave for you.

Sorry Luemas, I have to insist on an answer to the second bit.

Does it apply to all sins?

Yes, from a lie to murder to fornication.

Okay. Well my next question was going to be specifically about lying, but you've already answered that for me.

So far so good. It appears I am under no misapprehensions about Christian Theology (at least as far as you guys see it).

Okay, let me propose this. If, hypothetically, I were to to accept Jesus as Lord and live like him as best I could, but the whole time not really believe it - in effect being dishonest - wouldn't that get me everlasting life as the sin of dishonesty is lifted from me by Jesus's death?

Let me know what you think. I recognise that this is a slight variation on Pascal's Wager, so if you want to comment on that as well, please do.

Yes, I know what you're talking about, in fact i hear it a lot, buying the product but not paying for it.
Once saved always saved never applies.
But I'm to tired to be in this debate.
I'm sure there are others out there who will debate.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that people don't agree with the syllogism.

If you don't, I'd really like to know why not.

you have to truly believe. God can tell what's in your heart. he's omnipotent. If you go through the motions, but still are skeptical, you're not 100% there. It's called being a luke-warm christian.
Call it what you want
