This will probably come of as quite rude, but I can't think of any other way of putting it and I hope you get my point:

I'm just trying to show you my perspective of it, and why I don't understand why what you say should be considered to be the truth :)

thats because you dont want to know !

you dont accept Jesus - i asked you before if you wanted to find out we could pray together and invite Jesus into your life....you declined with what came across to me as-how could i invite him into my life if i dont know if he is "the one" -

dont take this as rude-its my opinion you like this catch 22 situation for yourself -dunno why

Well, the thing is: I think this is a really important question. Your beliefs have a profound impact on your actions. Therefore I want to make sure that I have taken every precaution necessary to make sure that my beliefs are as true and accurate according to objective reality as I possibly can. This is because I do not want to make decisions that can have a negative impact on myself or others that could have been avoided if I had a more correct view of the world.

From what I have seen so far in my life, I think it is fairly certain that if I accepted the path of the Buddha I would eventually believe that I had found the truth. That does not necessarily mean I would be right. A Buddhist would congratulate me in finding the one true path, but you would tell me that I was wrong.

Now if I accepted Jesus I would eventually believe that I had found the truth. You would congratulate me in finding the one true path, but a Buddhist would tell me that I was wrong.

I'm not saying I like this "catch 22"-situation, and there's a lot more to it than just this point, but I hope you can see that for me there is no way of knowing witch of these paths to take (if any)? And if i just try one, the chances are I would be stuck no matter if it's the right one or not.

That's not really convenient. Convenient would be to say "I don't care if my beliefs are true or not" and then just join the first Hari Krishna-group that came along and be happy knowing that Krishna is the path to enlightenment.

And I would not call it fear of failure. I would call it recognizing my responsibility to take well informed decisions.

well what happens to you when your will and emotions contradict your own values?

So recognizing your responsibilty to take well informed decisions stops you from accepting Christ?

a1: Then I need to take a good look on both my will, emotions and values to find out what is causing such a discrepancy.

a2: Yes

a1: If I could find a rational argument for why I should believe in Jesus as savior rather than any other deity.

a2: Then I must fix that discrepancy by either changing my mind, suppressing my emotions or adjust my values depending on what I have concluded from my investigation of the problem.

Well, yeah I assumed that one had reached a thorough understanding of it since ARAZEC asked "then what?"

My views on homosexuality? unnatural. That's not the way God intended it to be. Besides Gay/Lesbian sex tries to desperately to make up for the what the other is missing. Its just Unnatural. I have some friends who are homosexual, i love them dearly. but i can't stand what they do. They live in an addictive sin. But i think the reason most ppl point fingers at them is because they can see their sin. but i have addictive sins to. Point your finger at me too. Jesus loves them anyways. But they are doing is wrong.
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead; nor doth He sleep!"
The Wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, Good Will to Men!

My opinion is that it is wrong, but you can't shun someone for it.

The link I'm posting is to a video in the series "Unchristian" by a church in St. Catharines near Niagara Falls. It's about 40 minutes long so I can imagine that it's a bit of a turn-off but I think it's worth posting. In the video Jeff, the guy preaching, references to Sarah. The videos with Sarah are below the first video. The one on top is intended to be played before the original message video and the one underneath after. It's easier than just posting a super long post
