O Lady of the night The fallen star in the blackness In the dirt and oil on the street You flaunt your supposedly untouched body So who put those bruises there? Who put those chains there? Shying from the lights streaming from bars Covering your face at the sound of a siren Yet tugging down your blouse at the sound of laughter Of rowdiness Of want Dressing in black does not blend you in Your sunless skin shines in the gutters A target Of self-brought abuse You bring your shawl closer to your starved skin Only you can tell nothing about starvation for flawlessness Is beautiful You smile at the thought of warmth Other than the heat of anger Stuffy rooms Car exhaust You laugh at the thought of freedom You laugh at the thought of rules A leash You laugh at the thought of a second chance O Lady of the night Here comes the orangeness of dawn You'd better hide in the shadows You will never know that I am hiding there, too Ready to push you into the sunlight I am laughing also At the thought of a second chance. |

I did think it was a little odd in a way that makes you independent. |
