So, some of you think that every single one of us are special to God, correct? I disagree. Have you ever had somebody (or you) say that God has saved their life? By saying that you are special to God because he saved your life, you are saying that he choose to save you, when he could have saved millions of other people who were killed by hunger, genocide, or war. By saying that, you are saying that you are more important than millions and maybe billions of other people. Because I almost got hit by a car, but the driver just happened to run out of gas before he hit me, it was because God loves me more that the billions that he COULD have saved. but choose not to? No, I know that God does not give a flying crap about me. I am not special, and I have no reason to be. Therefore, we are not all special to God. Please post your opinions about this here. |

You say, for one, misspelling special. *Nervous Twitch* Ahem, if I was a speaker, you'd be wanting to get a pillow. Alright then. God loves everyone. That's a good place to start, don't you think? Now, you say because there is pain and suffering, injustice and cruelty, genocide, fratricide, matricide, patricide, and all the cide's you can think of, God must not love everybody equally. Ever hear the saying, count your blessings? Food Shelter and Clothing. Three basic necessities of life. Many don't have all of these, they may have food, however little they have, or a little shelter from the rain and the arid heat of the unforgiving sun and it's merciless ways, but nobody has nothing. Three things we are guaranteed, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. As by your own words, you have confirmed that you are guaranteed those. I am in no way diminishing the pain and anguish others feel day that they live, the sadness that is life in itself. How do we escape the labyrinth? Do we just not try, not care? Hope inspires disappointment. The worst thing to lose is hope. What to hope for though? A better life? To strive onward, hoping that there is a light at the end of the tunnel? God gave you life, he gave you a will to survive. Fight or Flight instincts. Even if you don't believe in God, you know that the purpose of your life is to continue to live, and try and help others. To spread the good news, that the grass is greener, that there is Hope. God loves us enough to give us life, a gift greater than any Christmas, Hannukah, Birthday, you name it. Selfishness is one of my pet peeve's, I try to be selfless, although Lord knows I fail. I guess even having a pet peeve... I tell you without the least doubt. We have bought our death, thousands of times over. Interesting, how debt and death rhyme? Our death is a paycheck. A certainty that is deserved, but the USPS is delivering, and Lord knows when it will get here... |

WHOA! Where did I misspell it? I have to fix that! No way can I be an author if I misspell special. Luemas, the difference between us in this is you are a Christian, and I am an Atheist. I, for one, do not believe the things you do, therefore I do not believe God loves us all equally. And If he does, then why doesn't he treat us all equally? |

Sigh... Alright, pull up a chair, Vampira. First off, your premise is incorrect. You assume that because God is the Creator, etc., that he controls everything. This is incorrect. He gave humans free will, and many humans use their power of free will to make others suffer. God doesn't intervene because if he did so every time something bad was about to happen, we would not truly have free will. When something bad happens and people say "It was God's will" or "God allowed it to happen to teach you x", they are wrong. God is not a vindictive entity, he is a loving one. He does not visit suffering upon humans to test them or to teach them something. However, he does use the negative actions of people to create better circumstances for others. Here's an example. Imagine, for a moment, that your mother has been raped and is pregnant with her rapists' child. Instead of aborting the child, your mother carries the child to term and does not put him up for adoption. Now fast-forward twenty years. This child, now a man, has developed a reliable cure for AIDS, ending the suffering of millions and preventing the suffering of millions more. This child has helped millions of people, but he would not exist were it not for the suffering of one person. Hypothetically, of course. My point is that though bad things happen, God, or whoever, uses these things to create good things. This necessitates a certain amount of inequality in life. |

I lurk a lot on this forum, and am very busy in real life, so don't be surprised if I take a couple days, or even weeks, to reply to your post or PM. GENERATION 11: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any other forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment. | |

I understand that. The bad things happen, none the less. Even if the bad things MAY lead to an amazing thing, they still are bad. Sure, it's not the child's fault that he is a rapist's son. Do bad things always turn out to be good things? What if the rapist's son turned out to be just as bad and nuked the whole continent? How would that turn out to be a good thing? Millions of innocuous people killed, and I'm sure some very harmful people killed. |

So you think God should just make everything lollipops and double rainbows? Life sucks, anyone who says differently is trying to sell something. If you're trying to contest the goodness of God, then you have a bit of a dilemma. Also, Speacial. Title. Now, I know I sound highty tighty up here in my big comfy chair secluded from the rest of the world, but hear me out. Now, part of your problem, which I kind of agree with, and dragonshardz knows better than I do... are the people who say they've been healed or blessed by God. I'm not saying they aren't, but it kind of feels like we're given the shaft, when we don't get healed, etc. Paul himself dealt with this, crying out to the Lord three times to remove his sickness, whatever it was. The Lord told him it was his cross to bear, and he bore it. The idea I'm trying to say is, is that none of us deserve anything, and pain for a while, can lead to joy for a lifetime. Interestingly enough, an atheist proves my point... somewhat.

It's okay Cheezy. But Luemas, of course I don't expect that. Did I ever imply that? ![]() Life totally and completely sucks, and bad things happen. And God may or may not be good. Weather you think so or not, God is not perfect. I have been through some tough crap, but it wasn't ever worth it. |

How is God not perfect? You spoelled whether wrong. Yes God is good. How is he bad? We are free willed creatures, we can choose to be saved by him or not. He doesnt pick special people. It's all us and what we think about him. |

No! Dang I'm messed up. Can't even spell right. GOD NEVER DID ANYTHING FOR ME. My mother was molested by her step father, and when she was bad, you know what happened? Her head got pounded into the concrete several, several times. She prayed for FIFTEEN YEARS. Nothing happened. She never got over it, she's not stronger, she's weaker. What good is that? |

I didn't mean it like that. And I could go to Hell for all I care. I really don't care. It's not like human existence is anything meaningful to the universe. |

....You need to study things more. You should read 23 minutes in hell and you might rethink that. Or, actually, the bible's good too. |

I don't want to read the Bible. I honestly don't. Really, I could care less. Life is meaningless, and Hell may or may not exist. |
