What do you mean test God? I mean, there have been instances in the bible where people tested God. For example, Gideon tested God. If you're only trying to validate that it's actually him you're talking to. I think test him is rather vague. Could you be more clear? |

Huh? A teacher tests you. You don't test the teacher. A school board might test a teacher, but a teacher doesn't test the school board--at least not if they want to keep their job. A general tests his troops, but troops do not test their generals. You only get to test someone if you outrank them. We don't outrank God. Pretty simple. EDIT: God tests us to be stronger. God CAN'T be stronger. The only reason you would "test" God is because of a lack of faith in him. Edited by Afalstein, 29 Mar 2013, 03:10 PM.

I think they mean why can't we test God... Well,we can. Test/try him & see his goodness or Put to the test - Should we ? Should we put Gid to the test? I wonder how many instances in the Bible... |

No, we should not. While different people--including Abraham, Gideon, and Zachariah--received signs from God, specifically asking for signs or "testing" God's promises is never seen as a good thing, and often as a bad one. Zachariah is struck mute for requesting a sign. The most famous example, of course, is when Jesus is brought to the top of the temple by Satan, who tells him to throw himself off and test if angels really WILL bear him up. Jesus answers that you don't play with God like that. So... no. We shouldn't test God. |
