Corone` Shipyards

What is this place?

The Corone` Shipyards, part of the Corone` Artisan Guild is where you can purchase an existing ship or request a special order. We only use the finest oak in our hulls and our sails, the greatest flax. Here you can find the greatest, grandest, and most sturdy ships in all the realm! From Knarrs to Cogs and Caravels, we can build any type of ship.

Knarr

Knarrs, a relative of the longship are small ships rigged with a sail for speed in open waters are a great ship. Whether for fishing, transport, or a day on the lake, a Knarr will provide. Originally used for fishing and transporting goods up and down the coast, this continues to be the primary use of the Knarr.Posted Image

Cogs and Hoys

A Cog, much like a Hoy, is a slooped rigged ship meant for coasting. Also like the Cog a Hoy is a two decked ship. Where the two ships differ is that a Cog is primarily a merchant vessel for shipping goods while a Hoy can serve in many roles. A Hoy also has multiple sails, usually three unlike the Cog's one. The Hoy also is very similar to a Chasse-marée.Posted ImageAn Artist's Drawing of a Hoy

Holk and Caravel

A small, maneuverable sailing ship, a Caravel is meant for exploration and transport. Having Lateen sails, the ship is also significantly faster than most other vessels. The ship also generally has three masts. Typically carrying around three hundred tons, the ship is a good ship for merchants. A Holk, on the other hand, is actually where the Caravel derived from.Posted ImageAn Artist's Rendering of a Holk
