So I want to talk about the premier episode and the result of the backlash from said episode. I just watched the episode "say yes", last night and I noticed something.A lot of the zombie kills were off screen, out of focus, or at a distance. Why? BC of the so called fans that deemed this episode "torture porn". Which is completely ridiculous. Try American Horror Story for that particular indulgence. The first episode of Hotel shows a guy getting raped by another man with a spiked dildo! And that show has been graphic from the beginning. But I guess it is ok to show gratuitous sex on TV, but watching a killing is too much. I get it, the season 7 premier was graphic and tortuous. But But this is a mature show, you should have gotten the hint by now. I mean we have seen countless zombies get there heads bashed in. Spoiler alert! They are ppl!at learn a part of them. They still look like ppl. But bc they are zombies it's somehow less graphic? That makes sense. Haven't we seen Rick stab Carter in the back of the neck and hold his hand over his mouth to keep him silent? Haven't we seen Rick also stab a guy in the neck and watch blood go everywhere? And what about the terminus scene? That wasn't brutal either? It's all violence so stop trying to make a show you can watch with your younger kids. And btw so all you complainers know they also show Hostel, Saw, Sinister, and Evil Dead on basic cable. But bc they are movies it somehow that pardons them? This has always been a mature show, and should be treated like a rated R movie. But no you then complain all of a sudden that this show has now gone too far. And you fake fans stop watching and the ratings drop. And when it returns for the second half comes back, and there's way more smiling and laughter and now not as graphic zombie kills. Which is a big part of zombie genre entertainment. And so the ratings return. Which is a slap to the face to the directors, writers, actors, and the real fans of the show. They worked extremely hard on that and it was very emotional and hard for them and all you do reject it. This is their story so live and watch it through their eyes and not yours, like real fans do. It was so traumatic and disheartening bc it was through their eyes. And the episodes after everybody was zoned out and and time was on stand still for them. Which is why we felt the exact same way with them. True fans are with them when they are down, and when they triumph. We were with them in that lineup and we felt what they felt. But we also saw Rick get back up and pick that hatchet up and fight and figuratively eat shot for Negan, even though it would have been easy to just lie there. And real fans saw that inspiring moment and focus on the triumphs. The walking dead doesn't need graphic sex scenes like American Horror Story or Game of Thrones. All it needs is good actors, good dialogue, and good fans. The real ultimate walking dead fan out. |
