Build Fighters Gunpla Customization Guidelines

Build Grade

Gunpla used in Gunpla Battle have recently become regulated through a point system known as Build Grade. Established by the World Gunpla Association, Build Grade is a rating system used to measure a Gunpla's strength in battle. The more Build Grade a Gunpla has, the greater performance it is able to unlock when participating in battle. While any number of customizations are allowed on Gunpla through the Builder's creativity, the Build Grade system prevents a Fighter from utilizing their Gunpla's true potential. Instead, they must fight and increase their Build Grade rating to unlock that potential. Whether they win or lose, a Fighter's Build Grade is determined by their skill and participation in a battle.

When registered with the World Gunpla Association's system, all Fighters have an initial amount of 100 Build Grade. Whether you're a former national contender, World Champion or a complete beginner, the new Build Grade System brings everyone down to the same level in order to work their way up to the top. The more one's Build Grade increases, the more attributes of their Gunpla they unlock, increasing the unit's overall performance and features. From there, the Build Grade increases as you add more customizations and features to your Gunpla.

Participating in any type of battle will allow you to increase your Build Grade. Whether you win or lose, you'll receive Build Grade based on your performance, sportsmanship and participation within the topic; while winning does net you additional Build Grade, you will still get Build Grade for losing. Increasing your Build Grade from your base limit allows you to request new features for your Gunpla or unlock features you may already have placed on your Gunpla for use in future battles. While you start off with a base 100 Build Grade, you may register your Gunpla as if you were registering a Gunpla at the maximum current cap of 200 Build Grade; just note a lot of features will be locked out.

The current rate at which Build Grade is earned is 0.25 BG per combat post. Quality of the roleplay, active participation, lack of arguments, etc; these all go into increasing the overall amount of Build Grade given out per completed topic. BG will always be rounded up if it does not come out as a whole number. All of this is subject to change, based on various trends and the average amount of Build Grade people attain per combat topic.

Build Grade is divided into five official levels; No Grade (100), High Grade (125), Real Grade (150), Master Grade (175) and Perfect Grade (200). These "Grade Ratings" are typically badges of honor and may allow you to participate in tournaments with other individuals of the same grade. If you do not meet that grade level, for instance, you would not be allowed to participate in that tournament. Worry not! These tournaments will be secondary to official story tournaments, to which all may participate.

Build Attributes

Build Attributes will be covered more extensively further below. Build Attributes are features you apply to your Gunpla; some are mandatory, while others you can select to apply or create for your Gunpla. For instance, if you were using the Wing Zero Gundam the Zero System would be considered a Build Attribute. As described above, Build Attributes will cost Build Grade to apply to your Gunpla. The cost of such features is completely dependent on the Gunpla you are using. For instance if your Gunpla is the Wing Zero as listed above, the Zero System would cost little to no Build Grade as it's a built-in feature of the Gunpla. However if you were to apply a Zero System to a Gunpla that is not the Wing Zero, then it would cost more Build Grade to utilize that feature.

It all boils down to this: If it's a system a Gunpla should have by default, it will cost little to no Build Grade to utilize. If it's a system a Gunpla should not have by default, it will cost more build grade to utilize. Based on your choice of Gunpla the cost of a Build Attribute may go up or down. Some Build Attributes may cost more depending on whether or not they increase your Gunpla's performance or Action Point total. Some may even have handicaps that affect your stats in order to unleash incredible performance boosts! The results of applying such features to your Gunpla vary greatly, as you can even create your own Build Attributes to apply to your Gunpla!

Build Performance

Build Performance is a system that helps determine the amount of action points a Gunpla can use per post in battle. A Gunpla's performance levels are broken down into offense, defense, adaptability, control, specialty and power. They are given number ratings between 0 to 4. As stated above, certain Gunpla models tend to have lower performance while others tend to have higher performance. Beyond this, stats may also be affected by the Build Attributes you choose when creating your Gunpla. Each attribute is added together and divided by two to obtain the amount of action points you have available per post for battle. These are not actually stats for your Gunpla, but instead a measurement of performance. Having a lower level than another Gunpla would not mean they are stronger than you.

Offense determines the amount of offensive capability of your Gunpla, which can based on the standard weapons equipped on the unit and their specialization, not necessarily their cumulative combat potential.

Offense
ValueDescription
0
This unit has a poor level of offensive power.
1
This unit has a fair level of offensive power.
2
This unit has a moderate level of offensive power.
3
This unit shows an above average level of offensive power.
4
This unit shows a great amount of offensive power.

Defense determines the total defensive capability of a Gunpla. This rating can be affected by the materials used during the Gunpla's construction, whether you're using the default parts or reinforcing them with metal or other materials, as well as the Gunpla's combat role.

Defense
ValueDescription
0
This unit has a poor level of defensive capabilities.
1
This unit has a fair level of defensive capabilities.
2
This unit has a moderate level of defensive capabilities.
3
This unit shows an above average level of defensive capabilities.
4
This unit shows a great level of defensive capabilities.

Adaptability is the Gunpla's ability to perform well in various environments. Gunpla designed for specific environments rank very low in this category, while transformable Gunpla tend to rank high. Customized equipment added to the Gunpla may add or subtract to this category.

Adaptability
ValueDescription
0
This unit is specialized in a single type of environment, such as being a ground type.
1
This unit specializes in two different environments, such as being an amphibious type.
2
This unit excels in one type of environment, having minor issues adapting to other environments.
3
This unit is a jack of all trades when it comes to adapting to its environment.
4
This unit is capable of operating in all environment types with relative ease due to its design.

Control determines the ability to manipulate your Gunpla through the pilot interface. Models such as SD Gundams and mobile armors tend to be harder to control; general purpose or mass production models tend to have very high levels of control due to their ease of use.

Control
ValueDescription
0
This unit is extremely difficult to control due to it's high level of performance.
1
The design of this Gunpla makes it fairly hard to control.
2
This unit is not too hard, but not too easy to control; it takes a bit of learning to adjust to.
3
This unit is easier to control than others.
4
This unit is very easy to control, built specifically for easy handling.

Specialty determines the capabilities of a fighter and Gunpla to harness plavsky particles for offensive or defensive purposes, based on the functionality of the Gunpla and its inherent capabilities, or those of its fighter.

Specialty
ValueDescription
0
This unit cannot utilize plavsky particles beyond basic movements and acceleration, its weapons utilize the bare minimum amount for combat.
1
This unit can utilize plavsky particles in its weapons and equipment, such as beam rifles and beam shields, GN Fields and the like.
2
You as a Fighter are aware of how to manipulate plavsky particles through your Gunpla, but only to a certain degree and only in moments of desperation.
3
You as a Fighter are aware of how to manipulate plavsky particles through your Gunpla and are capable of executing these actions effectively.
4
You are a Master Asia of manipulating plavsky particles for combat, though you're no Nils Nielson.

Power rates a Gunpla's ability to harness plavsky particles. All models share a set default rating in this category, while customizations applied to the Gunpla can increase this category. Higher power allows greater manipulation of plavsky particles for special systems or attacks.

Power
ValueDescription
0
This Gunpla is not designed to harness plavsky particles beyond basic movements and acceleration, its weapons utilizing the bare minimum amount for combat.
1
This unit has enhanced plavsky particle capabilities to handle the output of beam weaponry or anti-beam field defenses.
2
This unit is designed to harness plavsky particles outside of their intended scope as a conduit for standard weaponry, such as an SD Gundam's special attacks.
3
This unit is capable of actively utilizing plavsky particles for special systems built into the Gunpla to improve performance or act as a conduit for special plavsky-based attacks.
4
Your Gunpla is almost there... but not quite on the level of something Nils Nielson can build. However it's more than adequate to power your plavsky-manipulating skills.
