Rather than stepping back to avoid the feint or even using his shield's trump card to throw off the Sniper as it backed away, the Daeg Hagal charged forward, saber still at the ready as it braced it's shield arm and thrust its body forward with the assistance of it's thrusters to meet the attack head on. The shield would slam up against the Sniper's charge as the Daeg Hagal's body twisted to the side, hiding most of its profile behind the shield as it clashed head-on against the Sniper's charge. Pushed back a few meters as the Daeg Hagal slid across the ground, its feet had nonetheless dug themselves into the ruined ground beneath it and stopped the charge. As it clashed with the Sniper, the foot thrusters and back thrusters engaged at full output to give it a little "oomph" as it pushed forward, extending its shield arm outward with full force as the Gunpla creaked, in an attempt to completely throw the GM Sniper off balance and away from the Daeg Hagal with something akin to a shield bash.

Mei-ling pulled back on the controls as she felt the momentum of her charge slacking, though she kept up just enough of her own thrust to keep up the illusion of a struggle. Then, as she truly started noticing herself losing ground, the Sniper gave one final, great big push forwards, full throttle, to make it seem as if their eternal struggle would go on for just a few more moments. Suddenly, the Sniper's rear vernier's cut off, giving the Daeg Hal it's opening as the lack of opposition meant it would be the only force pushing. Even with full throttle though, it would take some time for his speed to kick in, due to opposing forces, which meant Andy's initial push back was going to be a slow build up.

The Sniper's arm that belonged to the shoulder pushing against the Daeg Hal's shield slackened as it stopped pushing on. With help from the vernier's located upon it's legs, the Sniper suddenly boosted itself around the shield as it's maneuvers kicked up a great screen of sand from the thrusters intense heat, subsequently turning the very fine sand into very fine glass. And the Daeg Hal was headed straight into the thick of it. The bits of glass and particles of sand that didn't get blasted with super-intense heat would most likely do a fine job in getting caught within exposed joints.

Recovering from it's maneuver, the Sniper pulled out it's second saber and brought them up to aim two simultaneous diagonal slashes into it's exposed rear.

As the Daeg Hagal lurched forward from the subsequent feint, with its boosters blazing full throttle and while still in a lower stance, the Daeg Hagal pushed off the ground with one leg with a great creak as it launched itself into the air while pulling an 180° turn. The subsequent jump and momentum allowed it to escape the twin slashes from the Sniper and to ultimately avoid the cloud of sand and glass particles below. Whether or not he avoided it though, the Daeg Hagal would've been more suited than others to withstand the effects of a desert environment in its current configuration, making the sand and glass dust a very minor inconvenience.

Though slightly surprised by the Sniper's tactic, the Daeg Hagal's pilot remained calm and quickly regained the unit's stance as it landed on the ground. Facing the sniper once again its shield was raised up against its body in the same way as before; the tip of the shield pointing diagonally upward against the chest. Extending its sword arm outward and holding said sword down with the thumb, the Daeg Hagal's hand motioned the Sniper again, taunting the Sniper as if it were a bull before gripping its saber proper once more.

The Sniper was already closing the distance, giving the Daeg Hal only a moment to prepare as it's pilot seemed to be getting serious. Mei-ling crossed the two sabers in front of her, both for protection and the opportunity to deflect any counter-attacks that may come. This original Gunpla was full of surprises. There was something curious about the way it constantly assumed the same stance though, and she'd seen such a stance being made many times before. It was time to see if her theory proved true. Just mere moments before their clash, the Sniper suddenly dug both sabers into the sand and threw them upwards and out towards the Daeg Hal, temporarily obscuring it and herself. No doubt there were many possible outcomes to such a tactic. Above, below, a feint to the sides. It was none.

As the sand cleared, the Sniper was simply standing there in front of the Daeg Hal, the beam saber it had held out just an inch away from impaling the Sniper's head. It's one beam saber was poised and ready to strike whilst the other was held at a slanted angle, it's purpose akin to a dueler's parrying dagger. They were face to face now, a mere few inches separating the two of them as she stared down the Daeg Hal with her silent gaze. Whether or not it had the effect she'd wanted, Mei-ling would never know as she swiftly used her parrying saber to attempt batting away the Daeg Hal's beam saber, hoping to keep it occupied and create an opening as she lunged with the other, aiming for a quick thrust into the unit's exposed legs.

Andy remained calm and still while the Sniper performed it's little battle dance, the way it was acting previously gave no indication that the Sniper was going to perform any particular dirty tactic; but as soon as his eyes caught movement he shifted into gear. Changing the Daeg Hagal's position almost as quickly as the Sniper began to strike, the Sniper's beam saber cut right through the left leg to the side as the Daeg Hagal twisted it's body, searing the large and thick knee guard of the unit's left leg as well as a decent chunk of the leg's far left side, exposing the metal and plastic frame beneath.

The hunk of plastic and metal hit the ground while kicking up some dust, Its size and design ultimately helping to protect the rest of the leg, but with another attack like that, with the knee joint and innards now perfectly exposed to danger, would really ruin the Daeg Hagal's day.

However... this was the perfect opportunity. Both of the Sniper's arms had been occupied and at the very second the Sniper engaged to attack, the Daeg Hagal sacrificing part of it's leg to the Sniper's saber, the shield arm swung downwards with full force. Stepping back in the same motion to secure its footing while engaged with the Sniper's parrying blade, the shield swung down as the beam cutter emitter at the tip of the blasted to life, slashing in a diagonal and downward motion towards the now point-blank GM Sniper from its upper body down to its legs; essentially attempting to bisect the Gunpla before him.

She had a feeling that would happen.

Mei-ling, well prepared for such a surprise attack, immediately pulled back on her controls and disengaged from the Daeg Hal. Though her readiness and quick hands had saved herself from being split in half, the shield's beam cutter had left a nice gash upon the Sniper's chest. The wound still glowed, showing a neat, jagged line where the cutter had reached in it's attempt to cleave her in twain. Though, compared to a certain Gunpla a certain club mate of hers owned, this particular weapon paled in comparison. It was still very deadly though .. but she wasn't at a disadvantage. So he had two weapons now, so did she.

And like a relentless storm, Mei-ling charged forwards once more, meanwhile disengaging one of the beam sabers in the Sniper's hand as she did so. As the distance between them closed to within five meters, Mei-ling brought her single beam saber to bear and aimed to slam it against the Daeg Hal's shield, hoping to keep it occupied as she simultaneously flipped the other inert beam saber around and ignited it, bringing it in to strike with a horizontal under cut that came in towards the Daeg Hal's right side, her intention being to either cut into any exposed parts or engage the lengthy beam saber the Daeg Hal had along the way.

Without even using it's thrusters, the Daeg Hagal leaped a few steps back. Sparks shot from its leg, clearly showing the damage dealt earlier was taking its toll with pressure applied to it. Neither swing of the sabers met their mark as the Daeg Hagal maneuvered away... and within said motion, the pair of Anti-Armor CIWS on its chest jumped to life; a hailstorm of anti-armor bullets aimed at the open cut he had made on the Sniper's chest, as well as any other area exposed within the close proximity. With a slower rate of fire due to their larger caliber, it was still faster than any other weapon on the Daeg Hagal. At such close proximity, the anti-armor CIWS would perform more than adequately enough to tear into the approaching GM Sniper, especially when aiming for the weak point he created in the armor.

That was unexpected, Mei-ling thought to herself as the first few shots of anti-armor shells tore into the Sniper, though thankfully the initial volley was still spinning up towards it's intended target. Instead a round or two found themselves lucky enough to have blown a large chunk off the head visor and upper shoulder, the rest was up to momentum as several more rounds slammed into the Sniper's left arm, of which she had raised to protect itself. It would function long enough for what she had planned, though. She would only give up so much.

It was because of their close proximity that she could do this. A calculated risk and one worth sacrificing for. Mei-ling dropped the Sniper into a low duck, it's knees bent as she ignited it's thrusters and charged forward underneath what remained of the Daeg Hal's machine gun fire. It was fun until he fired his guns at her, she hadn't expected it to happen and so was not ready for it. He had accepted her offer of a duel after all and even specified that it would be a battle of swords. Not weaponry. Indeed, she hadn't fired a single shot of her own vulcans during their entire fight close-quarters.

She was disappointed. She was also very sad that it came to this. His usage of the weapon was sound. The right weapon for the right moment, a surprise factor she had not counted upon because her naivete believed in fair play. Mei-ling was not happy. It was during her maneuver that she noticed her opponent's damaged leg. It was open. Everything below the shield was open. He seemed to have counted everything on this surprise attack. The Sniper's head raised, targeting that weakness. The vulcans opened fire upon the damaged limb, hoping to either sever or make it blow clean off.

The beam saber held in a reverse-grip came up, aiming to slice off the Daeg Hal's beam toting arm, whilst the other came around as a thrust aimed towards the Daeg Hal's crotch armor.

Mei-ling was not happy.

Clearly, by this point, Andy was completely focused on the battle in front of him that he had forgotten of the sword duel he had agreed to with Mei-ling... he was so engrossed into the combat that he didn't even think twice about using the Anti-Armor CIWS when the option presented itself. One could say he was looking forward at the opponent as if he had tunnel vision; the only thing on his mind. The unit before him was one that needed to be taken down, no matter the cost,

The Daeg Hagal's shield was jettisoned from the left arm as the Daeg Hagal twisted its body left, its thrusters still active. The motion allowed the Daeg Hagal to hover across the ground to the left as the discarded shield caught the vulcan fire, causing no real harm to the shield, but knocking it a fair ways away to the point of being unrecoverable at this point, but also intercepting damage intended for the leg. The beam saber thrust tore into the Daeg Hagal's side and left a nasty gash as it moved, knocking off the right side and right front skirt armor in the process as well, rather than hitting the intended crotch area. However, the other blade made an almost-intended hit; though it didn't cut off the arm clearly it cut through from the elbow down, shearing the lower arm from the body along with the hand, leaving a small portion of the under frame of the whole arm visible with the rest gone.

All the while the Daeg Hagal's Anti-Armor CIWS were still going off in the general direction of the Sniper, though the barrels looked like they were beginning to overheat. Still, with the Sniper still within close proximity and making its attack head on, it would surely be pumped full of the red-hot bullets. However, soon enough, after a few more dozen bullets went off in the Sniper's direction the CIWS jammed from overheat; and were subsequently jettisoned, preventing their use any longer without their primary component attached. Continuing its motion around the Sniper, with its left arm free, the Daeg Hagal reached back and swung down almost immediately with it's second beam saber, intended to cut down the Sniper from the side as the Daeg Hagal swung around to the enemy unit's back.

Mei-ling defended herself from the counter-attack, lowering the Sniper's signature by taking a knee, bunching itself up as it raised the undamaged right in arm in defense. While most veered off-course due to how hot the barrels were, affecting it's accuracy, there were several dozen of them and at least half of those found their marks, hitting the defending arm, shoulders and the right leg's knee plating. When it finally stopped, she immediately brought the Sniper to a stand and revealed the full extent of battle damage it had endured. If the battle damage level had been set any higher, the Sniper would have needed a complete refit, as dents and holes where bullets had successfully punched through or pinged off armor covered the entire chassis. She looked around for the Daeg Hal and noticed it's shadow upon her, Mei-ling moved but it was too late to react towards. She braced for defeat and waited for her defeat, though something was off ..

The Sniper was still standing.

The Daeg Hal's saber had hit, but instead of cutting clean through it had been stopped by an unlikely object. The Sniper's forgotten shield which was still attached to it's backpack. It being more or less the length of her Gunpla, it had successfully done it's duty despite having not been used at all for the entirety of the match. It wasn't going to last long though, as the anti-beam coating was burning away at a rapid rate due to the Daeg Hal's unique, high-output saber. Having been bought a few seconds, Mei-ling pushed the beam saber burning into her poor shield, letting momentum slap it away from her as she brought both beam sabers to bear and aimed to bisect her opponent's Gunpla through it's left side.

As the Daeg Hagal was brushed aside by Mei-ling's quick thinking, the Daeg Hagal looked hapless as the incoming beam sabers made their way towards its left torso. However at that moment the left leg gave way, the force of the Sniper's push to get the Daeg Hagal's saber away causing the leg to finally cave in; an explosion quickly followed as the joint gave out under pressure, the Daeg Hagal beginning a rapid descent to the ground. The beam sabers of the Sniper would cut into the exposed chest of the Daeg Hagal, leaving two beautiful streaks of melted plastic and metal as parts of the upper chest were sheared off. While the central chest piece stuck out much farther than the rest of the chest area, the tip of the sabers were well on their way to digging into there as well.

However, within the same instance of those sabers making their work of the Daeg Hagal, the durable Gunpla had yet to fall apart. The plastic and metal underframe of the RG series was durable, and was typically lacking in normal HG builds. It was what was keeping the Daeg Hagal together, despite the current onslaught. As it fell, the still-active back thrusters seemed to ignite far beyond their normal threshold, glowing red-hot as if overheating. The Daeg Hagal's remaining hand rotated around, bringing the beam saber to bear. Using the momentum of the Daeg Hagal falling down and the twisting of its own body... "Come on, Daeg Hagal... give me all you've got!"

...the enemy's beam sabers cutting into its upper body as the Daeg Hagal spun 'round... "A little more..."

...nearing the last portion of the right arm as the sabers seemed to make their way across the upper body in slow motion, the Daeg Hagal's body performed a complete and rapid turn. "FULL POWER!"

All within nearly the same moment of the Sniper's attack, as if expecting his demise... the high-output beam saber seemed to glow white-hot, the blade oscillating rapidly as Andy pumped all of the Daeg Hagal's remaining plavsky particle stores into the weapon. With the enemy's sabers still making their way through the Daeg Hagal's upper body, the left arm beam saber slashed low and diagonal just above the unit's torso with all the force and speed it could muster.

With everything that had happened in this match, Mei-ling had never expected it to end like this.

Everything seemed to flow along in slow motion as her beam sabers sliced through the Daeg Hal's chest. As their epic battle began it's quick descent towards it's astounding conclusion, she herself refused to let it end like this. Her club mates were counting on her to win, or at least she hoped so. Regardless, a victory here would advance her to the semi-finals and garner her team a name. The beginning of a reputation. Not to mention all of her friends she'd left behind in China, most likely watching this tournament, would be watching her as well. She closed her eyes and exhaled. Igniting the Sniper's thrusters she propelled it forwards, bringing the Daeg Hal along with it.

The thrust lasted only a few seconds though as Mei-ling slammed the Sniper into the Daeg Hal, practically straddling it mid-air as she saw the display to her right showing the damage taken from the previous blow. She had just barely survived it. The thrusters had been cut off because everything from the Sniper's left side up had been severed at an angle, leaving only it's right arm and leg. It was still functioning, though just barely, as she brought the Sniper's vulcan pods to bear and began firing into the Daeg Hal's exposed chest, even as she continued digging the saber further and further in an attempt to finish off her opponent.

As they landed, the sand kicked up around them, temporarily obscuring the Sniper and Daeg Hal from view.

As the dust settled on the battlefield, the current condition of the two Gunpla could be seen. The Daeg Hagal was pinned down by the Sniper, and on close inspection the entire chest cavity had been opened up with vulcan fire, paired with the onslaught attack from the beam sabers. The RG frame could be seen within, partially mangled, though the area with the cockpit just below that was mostly in tact, with scrapes on the top from vulcan fire and some major dents in the material. The Daeg Hagal's large sensor eye seemed to flash as if the light was slowly draining from it's eye; it did put all of it's plavsky particles into that last attack. The Sniper Pilot was barely moving... but it definitely wasn't out yet; though the Daeg Hagal had cleaved off the left side, the sniper's visor had yet to fade; life was still clear in the eyes of the visor.

With nothing to obstruct the Daeg Hagal's left arm, which was practically it's only functional limb at this point; the right leg had been crushed during the tackle and subsequent fall, the arm raised, saber still in hand, the energy steadily flickering as it dwindled. Raising the arm up and rotating the hand, the Daeg Hagal slammed the saber down in one quick motion to skewer the GM Sniper's head. a "clank" could be heard and some sparks could be seen as it struck the head... however it never made its mark; as the saber struck the helmet the particle stores went dry and the saber receded; he was effectively striking the head with a stick. The arm went slack as it had fallen to the ground; the Daeg Hagal had run out of energy.

Mei-ling looked incredulous at the turn of events, the last few minutes all a blur to her as she stared through the view screen at the disabled Daeg Hal. Looking over towards the damage display, she saw that the Sniper was still functioning despite all that had happened. Then again it's power plant, the core of it's design was still undamaged, though that couldn't be said for the rest of it's body. There really wasn't any point in continuing the fight. She actually wasn't sure what to do now, so with an almost lazy wiggle of the controls, she made the Sniper push itself off the Daeg Hal and rolled off onto the empty spot next to it.

She sighed. Did she win? Did she lose? Was it a draw? She wasn't really sure ..

It was a good fight, though.

BATTLE ENDED.

The plavsky field around the arena descended, leaving the two Gunpla in their place. While the damage had looked horrible during the actual combat, when the field came down it wasn't too bad, thankfully due to the combat damage level being set to B. The Daeg Hagal's exterior paint drop was fairly ruined, with parts broken here and there, but the main frame was still mostly in tact. The same could be said for the opponent as well; with enough TLC, piecing them back together wouldn't be too hard.

Andy looked up at the result message as the plavsky field died down. The system had declared it a draw. Out of his combat stupor, Andy shook his head and brought himself back to reality. He hadn't really focused on a battle like that in such a long time; this one really drew him in! Walking around to where his Gunpla had fallen, he picked up the Daeg Hagal and it's broken pieces, shoveling them into the pouch on his waist. It would come back, stronger than ever next time! He thought to himself.

Looking over to where his opponent was standing, as the GM Sniper was right near where he picked up the Daeg Hagal, he stood and waited for the opponent. He had gotten so engrossed with the duel and combat, having forgotten he had agreed to a duel of the swords; he wanted to apologize for his actions in breaking that agreement.

Mei-ling sighed softly, crossing her arms, a thoughtful look on her face as she looked down at the Sniper. It was going to need a lot of work done for next time. She was nevertheless happy it could stand up to a far superior, original design and come out of the fight with a draw. Picking it up, she gingerly picked up and placed each broken part into the padded pouch located around her waist, sliding the relatively intact yet battle-damaged Sniper into it's own separate slot. Pulling the strings together, she was suddenly reminded that there was a crowd still present, as they cheered and clapped for the both of them.

Her eyes drifted over towards Andy for the first time, her stare locking onto his as she gave him a smile. All appeared to be forgiven; the previous honor-bound, silent promise between fighters included. Rather uncharacteristically, she did not run off this time, instead she walked around the large platform that was their virtual arena and headed towards her opponent.

When she finally reached his side of the arena, she looked up at him and tilted her head, eyebrows narrowing a bit before they loosened and a hand slowly came up. An offer of a handshake.

"Hello Andy."

Andy reached out to and clasped his opponent's hand, giving her a somewhat gentle handshake and a nervous smile. "Nice to meet you, Mei-ling. That was a great battle!" After shaking her hand he backed up a bit after letting go and give her a slight bow.

"Also, I apologize for kind of losing myself there in the middle of battle... I usually don't get tunnel vision, but our battle really drew me in! I couldn't help it!" he said excitingly.

Patting the pouch where his broken Daeg Hagal resided, he gave her a thumbs up. "I really hope I get to fight you again in the future, but don't expect that my Gunpla will be the same as next time..." Tilting his head, he gave her a big grin as he put his hands onto his waist.

Not wanting to be out in the open amongst the crowd for much longer, he began his trek toward the Spectator setting, waving goodbye as he passed behind Mei-ling.
