"Alright everybody! It's been a long day and many of our contestants have been blown away by their competition. However, it's now time for the best 16 of the Gunpla Battle Beginner's Tournament to strut their stuff~!" Announcer-san, mic in hand, stood on the stage overlooking the eight Gunpla Battlefields that had been setup within the grounds.

Each Battle Field consisted of seven fields set together, creating a moderately large battlefield for the contestants. With all eight setup within the community center's indoor field area, there was still plenty of room between the fields as well as a spectator and participant area.

GUNPLA BATTLE COMBAT MODE, STARTUP. MODEL DAMAGE LEVEL, SET TO B.

The systems began to hum to life as the Plavsky Particles started to build up, indicating it was time to begin.

PLEASE, SET YOUR GP BASE.

"Everyone is now setting their GP Base! The fields are generating now... looks like we have a nice variety of fields today for everyone to tear each other apart!"

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL... FIELD 12, ISLAND. PLEASE SET YOUR GUNPLA.

"And with this, everyone has set their Gunpla... it's time to....!" with the audience cheering in the background, Announcer-san pointed her mic out towards the battle fields.

BATTLE START.

The roar and cheers of the crowd were mostly intimidating. Matteo Salvatore was used to dealing with crowds of people - what with Gigun Z constantly busy. Yet even now, it took everything he had to silence the roar and bring himself to the calm of his mental ocean. Deep within that calm water, Matteo found his center and, with that, is ready to go. Reaching down and placing his GP Base into the open slot, Matteo prepared his Gunpla with its standard Loadout. Positioning the two twin GN Bazooka's over the shoulder mounts and the GN-Hammer positioned like a whip at its side, the Serafino was ready for combat. Placing the hunk of plastic down on the GP Base, the consoles scanner ran over the white armored unit before the plavsky particles brought it to life.

With a raise of its head and a flash of light from its visor, the Serafino knelt in launch position ready to propel into the field of battle. As the scenery was announced Matteo grasped hold of the glowing spheres of his Holo-Cockpit. Clearing his throat with a mighty exhale, the teen was ready to go.

"Matteo Salvatore, Serafino, Lets do this!"

The automated propulsion system launched the model through the illusionary tunnel before finally spitting out amidst a barren yet beautiful field. The active volcano slushing hot fake lava through the oppening of the conical shape. The Serafino's blue particles filled the air as it propelled the unit to a hazy part of the field. Landing midst the smog, the Serafino positioned itself in a strategic hotspot that overlooked a portion of the landmass created by the cooled lava and about midway up a mountain path that led to the Volcano opening. Hitting his sensors to full sweep, Matteo readied himself for the soon to show up arrival.

Becoming the cut of the butter was an impressive streak for the Hexa, after the repairs done mid game it was ready for another round but as Sia found out it did get harder after each match, as the person before her went through the exact same ordeal she went through. She hadn't gotten the time to watch any battles regarding this 'Salvatore' fella but from what she recalled it was a 00 type Gunpla, the british ace herself didn't know anything much about 00 apart from the bizarre designs so this would become quite the learning experience for herself. When opening her box with an assortment of equipment and weapons she decided to go entirely heavy for this fight, arming her unit with the V-Dash attachments to grant it superior firepower over most puny mobile suits. A beam rifle placed snuggle in its left hand and another on its rear skirt as a spare, two additional pistols were placed on the waists of each side for extra spraying 'n praying.

Hexa took its place on the GP base which confirmed the Gunpla before the plavsky particles took over the piece of plastic and love. It was posed in its launch position which was bent knees and the head tilted slightly forwards, life soon filling its green optics for yet another battlefield.

"V-Dash Gundam Hexa, here we go."

With the full force of the magnetic catapult the itty bitty Victory type was launched from its comfortable pose and into the haze, the minosky system working wonders to its flight characteristics. "All volcanic and ashie." Observed Sia as the Hexa slowly panned its primary camera from the left to the right. "Capturing the higher part of the steeps should provide the best benefit." It was rather logical to take the high spot, especially if you're a fat suit like the competitor is. "Most likely thinking the same." Prodding the orbs forward caused the Gunpla to land gently onto the ground, starting a steady pace higher up the steeps.

The head of the Serafino shifted from side to side as it scanned the battlefield for any sign of the competition. After a few moments, it became clear that sitting in the same spot wasn't going to accomplish anything desired. Bitting his lower lip, Matteo scanned the hostile environment for a way to proceed but remain in cover. His hands moved like clockwork as the right facing monitor flashed on to bring up a map of the field, showing a few options available to Matteo. As his eyes studied the layout, the young Italian nodded and made up his mind.

Grasping hold of the spheres once more, Matteo's unit shifted its weight and began to Hover-Move deeper into the smog. Eyes set and determined the young teen from Suginami High found his checkpoint and fell into the earth. A deep crevice that had been carved by the Lava itself - now completely barren and dry - was the perfect route to take to the high-ground. Clocking his unit at full speed in the crevice, the white mobile suit propelled at a relatively quick pace up the mountain unhindered. Sensor's still expanding the area hoping to catch a ping of the enemy unit.

Instinctively, the Serafino's hands grasped hold of the twin shoulder mounted beam bazookas on its shoulders. This match was going to be one of the toughest ones so far of the tournament, and what was more this was the battle of the top 16...which meant that all the competitors had already overcome so much to get here. Bitting his lip just a bit more, Matteo wondered about Asami and hoped she was doing fine. Ideally, he'd love to finish this match quick and run to see her match unfold but - remembering the little he was able to see of Ms. Glosters matches - that was probably not going to be the case here.

As the unit ascended the mountain in its own way, there was suddenly a ping on his screen, indicating another unit was in the area. Eyes narrowing and focus redistributing, Matteo calmed his breathing and readied himself for the next course of action. He was hoping to catch the enemy off-guard, unaware and mostly just relaxing. Counting down from five, Salvatore's unit ceased movement and without warning leapt out of the crevice. His eyes shifted quickly before noting the enemy gunpla moving up the mountain, its back turned towards his entrance*. Shifting the Serafino's weight just a bit more the unit was re-positioned perfectly for a quick shot and drop back into the Crevice for cover.

The twin canons on the white units shoulders erupted with pink energy as twin lances of beam particles closed the distance between the Serafino and the Victory in a short period of time. Aimed at the units rear torso and thrusters, the energy particles would make their way to the target while the White mobile suit entered its fall once more into the Crevice it had come from. Battle was now underway and Matteo was quickly remembering some of the training from five years prior.

"Where can such a fat suit hide itself in such terrain, damn fat double ohs Gunpla and there pixie magic." Pressing harder down on one of the few select buttons on the orb- her Hexa would kick off from the ground and begun to float a few ten centimeters or so, disturbing some ash from the use of foot thrusters and a mix of the minovsky system which gave it quite the nice mobility despite the obstruction it caused by flicking up the ash on the flanking terrain. A dull mood was quickly changed when warning of attack was approaching, the Hexa being a remarkable intelligence gatherer quickly clued onto the approaching particle signals. Sia was flustered over the controls as she brought the Hexa into the incoming beams, just discovering what they were she quickly dialed down onto the terminal. The beams may of missed the body but one scored a glancing hit on both Overhang Beam Cannons, the barrels quickly melting under the intense particles and deforming, leaving a nice gashing bite out of the metal.

Slowly ascending into a hovering position it's green optics lit up once again, sighting the enemy within its greedy sights. "Ha, there you are." With another command the Victory type reached onto each waist piece and grabbed a pistol, arming each hand with such a weapon. Both weapons were quickly posed to the Serafino Cambio, Sia eagerly held the triggers on the command spheres to release a flurry of shots, pink beams quickly filling up the space between the Victory and Serafino Cambio. Sia not wanting to wait for a confirmation went to double fold her attack - Hexa moved to the left with a burst of its verniers to provide a different angle on the engaged enemy to which only more beams were fired from the puny small arms.

With the ending of the last shot the barrels of each pistol were glowing hot orange, being the only reason she stopped to fire of course. Each pistol was restocked onto the waist lining while the rifle from before was taken from the rear panel and held firmly in the left grasp. Floating a little higher in fear of a counter attack, any distance between the two was good if that were to happen and it was quite tactically sound, especially when you can hover so simply like a magic carpet, if only stock configuration allowed the Hexa to use its VSBRs when bombardment would be a lot easier then using the awkward Overhang Beam Cannons which only seem great for space or high atmosphere combat.

The first two shots seemed to score some decent damage to the overhead cannons but it was the womans response that caught Matteo's attention. Her reaction was fluid, timed. Her choice of weaponry poor but their rate of fire superb. Erratic fire, no set pattern - smart. The italian dandy smiled wide as he grasped the control spheres tightly and began shifting his unit into a right side strafe with a slight reversing motion. The shots from the beam pistols were indeed encompassing and her quick shift in direction by not aiming at anything particular made it hard to avoid getting hit. Many rounds found their target, scaring up the paint and melting a bit of the plastic on units torso.

But this heavy looking unit wasn't big for show. The larger frame, the thicker plastic...this machine was designed for the type of abuse it was taking at this very moment. As the spray of fire slowed, Matteo shifted his propulsion and moved forward once more trying to actively close the distance between the two units. Twin beams of light once more ripping out of the shoulder mounted Bazookas as the Serafino's GN Drive moved the hulking, hovering unit forward. The shots fired were timed at the moment the Hexa ceased its firing and moved to reholster its weapons.

"Your good Ms. Gloster! I think I can really let myself enjoy this.."

Matteo's kind tone was coupled with a smile. Though in this time of calling out to the opponent, Matteo was busy repositioning itself to continue ascending up peak while never taking its position off of the Hexa itself. The crowd was going wild, this was a battle that was turning out to be quite the show with both combatants having truly customized weaponry and even more so two fighters with the tenacity to keep going. The top 16 was one hell of a show.

Scoring hits was confirmed with the sight of scorched plastic but it clearly wasn't taken down by the siege. Maybe the application of beam rifles should've been applied to the subject in hand but there was no time to ponder such. The enemy suit was on the offensive and it was Sia's turn to play her role. Hexa brought its beam shield online and extended it between itself and the incoming plasvsky particles. Once the two forms of energy collided in an explosive display the shield was quickly overwhelmed and vaporized, including the arm segment that the shield was connected with, leaving only blanked and buckled plating as the damage level was only set to B but the armor was completely useless at this stage. A lesson was learned this day- Fat suits hit hard.

As the target was approaching Sia would begin with a beam bombardment from the rifle in her grasp. Thankfully the rifle wasn't unwieldy like you'd find on a Zeta or a ReZEL but instead rather small and comfortable, even in a single hand, but all this meant reloading was really going to be a chore. Pointing the rifle at the enemy with one hand was easy enough as well as applying the finger to the trigger and letting loose hot streams of particles towards the GN type, unlike the shots via the pistol these were actually cared with aim towards the center mass.

While the beam rifle shots were inbound Sia thought on an idea, maybe not something original but it may work in this instance. The beam cannons themselves weren't entirely useless, they acted as a subfight and can be used for more unorthodox tactics. Sia detached the V-Dash equipment from her back which came to life with a boost of blue verniers output, it soared right over the Victorys head and straight for the Serafino on a kamikaze attack intent on blowing it up if it actually struck. Hexa parts were pretty evasive so correcting it would take little time and effort if it tried to move, assuming it doesn't counter attack of course but that was the risk with plots. Of course not to keep the fire down the rifle was pressed into service again with Sia pulling the trigger to express more plasvky particles towards the foe.

Matteo shifted the control spheres once more and continued the units forward momentum motioning the unit into a "Dash" of sorts towards the Hexa. Reaching up, the unit disconnected the twin beam bazookas and brought them infront of its torso. Moving the manipulators, the two individual weapons connected together as designed and formed a similar bazooka as the one used by the Gundam Virtue from the series 00. The hulking white unit continued moving forward weaving side to side. Thats when the woman brought out her A-Game.

Beam-Rifle aimed and set into position, the Hexa began firing shots at the Serfino, this time with more practiced aim then her previous showing. As the pink rays of energy fell towards earth to strike at him, Matteo snapped his wrist bringing forth the armaments menu. Clicking on a slot that had a large shield emblazoned on it, the white unit began to hum as a visible blue field semi-surrounded the gunpla. The plavsky particles collided with the semi-sepherical field causing the lances of light to curve around the unit and find their home within the ground of the stage. This continued as the shots poured forth, simultaneously the Virtue Gun continued to hum with gathering energy as the long weapon was readying itself for a powerful shot.

By the time the sixth shot hit the field, each shot having been absorbed or curved by the shielding, the blue particles flickered and the semi-field dissipated to recharge. That was his opening. Snapping the rifle up and aiming at the Hexa, Matteo waited until he had a solid lock before firing the weapon. A large stream of plavsky particles poured out of the weapon in the same aspect the Virtue's cannon poured out GN Particles in the show. The thick and powerful beam lurched forth at incredible speed and with incredible force. The timing couldn't of been more perfect as the backpack mount of the Hexa flew towards his unit, it would find itself probably caught in the weapons firing path since Matteo hadn't switched trajectory since the begining of his rush. The powerful weapon would eat through the plastic of the backpack and continue on its path to rip into the Hexa.

"Out of my way Ms. Gloster, I have someone I need to meet at the finals and you're obstructing that!"

However, In the heat of his own bravado Matteo lost track of the Hexa's beam rifle and as the final three shots crashed around him, one slammed a direct hit into his shoulder armor causing the white plastic to explode and vanish. The holographic cockpit turned yellow as red X's showed up all around him indicating damage. His mistake was focusing so much at bypassing her counter-attack and ending her with this final shot that he'd allowed some critical shots to move past his defense and damage him. Foolish. The Serafino buckled back with a slight stumble, the impact of the shot ceasing its rush and causing Matteo to get defensive once more. His only hope was that the Bazooka's shot was powerful enough to destroy both the flightpack as well as the Hexa.

"Dammit! I was careless...!!"

Matteo cursed his own mistakes, but never took his eyes off the Hexa. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

What kind of sorcery would give a Gunpla the power to bend beams around ones self? Pure magic was being done here but no one said anything about it. Maybe, just maybe it was actually apart of its equipment and Gundam 00 itself. Someone to meet? Sia had no such person to meet in the finals but her buddies but even then she had no rivalry between them, enlisting them as friends rather. Her primary goal was to win for the prize, someone in her status and student life couldn't afford much and competitive competition may change that. The time to finish this had come and Sia predicted this next vector would win the game but before that could even be dreamed up the notice of an incoming beam attack was quickly high lighted by the sensory units that displayed such data. The beam quickly ate through the V-Dash sub unit within a matter of seconds, leaving no plastic behind to salvage or even repair - That was going to be expensive.

With the beam coming straight for our heroine she quickly in acted one of the better defenses of Hexa in a situation like this. Each segment quickly split from each other to create three fighter modules, before they could get away the leg segment was caught by the beam. On the point of contact a violent explosion occurred, black thick smoke quickly taking the stage of the cameras with silence only being the current soundtrack. Only having a few seconds before the cover would dissipate Sia docked the surviving core fighter with the top fighter, creating the hybrid fighter that could surprisingly still could fight due to its vulcans and beam rifle. Silence was soon voided when a stream of green vulcan fire evacuated out of of the collective cloud with a core fighter segment flying right through it.

Vulcan fire repeated from the fighter as it came closer and closer to the enemy, the fire itself which lit up the sky was headed straight for the weapon the Gunpla held. Sia quickly assumed they were the staples of what acted as the entire offensive power of that one Gunpla, if that could be taken down with her 60mm guns then her situation could possibly change. The 60mm vulcans wouldn't be the only thing she was slinging at the Gunpla during her attack approach though. Sitting firmly in the grasp of the left hand the beam rifle lit up with a spray of intense blasts, these were carefully aimed for the chest once again. Sooner or later she'd have to piece through the armor and get to the more critical locations, it hasn't shown any kind of performance drop as of late. Surely a great build.

When the attack run and concluded with a final flurry of energy the fighter would take a steep altitide gain away from the enemy Serafino, if a counter attack were to occur it would be best when the Hexa core fighter was at its smallest plus tangling up close would mean facing the wrath of its beam sabers which would beam certain death with the conditiono the Victory type was in.

The sudden explosion as the V-Dash sub unit exploded in a cacophony of smoke and plastic caught Matteo by surprise. Unable to see if his previous shot had landed home on the Gundam Hexa, he instinctively began backpedaling towards the crevice he'd used not too long prior to try and activate a sneak attack. A moment passed and nothing, leaving Matteo - for a moment - to believe that the match was over. However much he'd wished that it didn't come to pass as a burst of Vulcan Fire penetrated and dissipated the cloud of smog.

Taken off-guard, Matteo brought his rifle to bare only to have the top section of the combined weapon become speckled with shots. Sparks and electrical discharge began to run up the weapon as it's plavsky cell was penetrated. Thinking swiftly, Matteo disengaged the combined weapon allowing the top section that was damaged to snap off and jettison with a bit of air. slapping his right hand out he quickly thrust the damaged weapon forward towards the incoming fire allowing more shots to impact the weapon before it exploded in an amazing flash of violet and orange light. Smoke once again covered the view of both fighters and while that was unintended it also gave Matteo a chance to manipulate the situation.

Bringing the rifle up once more, the unit backpedaled a bit more, narrowly missing another beam-shot from the rifle of the Hexa. With smoke and explosions covering his retreat, the large white unit fell into the crevice and began swiftly charging up the mountain once more hidden by the large crack in the Volcanic landscape. The GN Drive pulsing more particles out then usual as Matteo pushed his mobile unit harder than it needed. The match's time was nearing end and he had to finish this fight soon. Gazing up in-time to see the ascent of the Hexa-Fighter, Matteo shifted priorities once more and forced the Serafino out of the escape-route and into the air.

Aiming with a practiced patience, Matteo took a deep breath in. Reticle moving and trying to shift into a lock-on, Matteo relied more on his gut and tried to lead the V-Dash. When he thought the time was right, he pulled the trigger causing a beam to emit from the remaining beam bazooka with a practiced accuracy. The shot was aimed at the center of the Core-fighter, the widest part of its frame but he didn't wait for a response. Pulling the trigger once more he let loose another shot, and another! He wasn't going down without a fight. While his knowledge of gundam was extensive, he didn't know what kind of extra surprises Sia Gloster had in store for him...and honestly? He didn't really Care. He had to win, he had to find Aida at the finals and put that bastard in his place...for his Sister.

A trick developed by Seafire pilots may have to be applied here. As each core piece could act on her remote she could perform it rightfully but the firepower on the primary core was questionable, it in theory would work so much better if she had a beam rifle as well but alias that wasn't how the Victory Gundam was designed after all! It needed its flaws in order to make the Victory 2 more awesome in comparison. With that in mind Sia was seconds away from initial thrust before being hit by a salvo of beam cannons originating from the GN type. The shots had decisively scored a large chunk from the poor Hexa and made the command module entirely mute. Sia was in shock from what just occurred, her day dreaming had distracted her from the field and to what? Too be blasted into tiny fragments.

BATTLE ENDED
Examination of the attack phased showed only the weapon was damaged, the fat hunk of junk could move for sure. It must have been the pixie fueled reactor it enjoyed the benefit of ever so much, as with every weapon on that cursed barge. Vulcan fire had no effect on its externals but had she perhaps aimed for optics the situation couldn't been different on the previous attack, beam rifles only get so far before spoiling with questionable damage being made. Looking into higher output weapons that aren't static beam cannons was her optical thoughts, hyper beam rifles maybe? Or a VSBR pack or two...

Once the field had dissipated into everything that was nothing - Sia would catch her Hexa Gundamu, collecting the two pieces that were in the air. Burnt crisps of armor was easily visible across the once white plating that covered the lovely mecha, the V-Dash set was also another mess to play around with but thanks to their modularity she could work in a fix a lot quicker then most but it was also a lot more costly to perform. She also couldn't just fix it back to the levels it performed at before, Sia also must improve it in some form even if it was a little one until some money was captured.

Each segment was finally in her grasp, tucking them into the casing they belonged too. Sia closed the small case via its lock and slipped it back into her backup, slinging over the piece of fashion over her shoulder.

As the field shrunk down to nothingness once more, Matteo stood there panting. That last bit of the fight had taken every bit of concentration and finesse he had and admittedly, he was surprised he'd won. Looking down at the Serafino, he surveyed the damage. One of the twin bazooka's had been destroyed and it seemed as if in his haste he'd failed to notice that the hand that was used to push away the rifle had seemed to actually of been shot clean through. The damage, seemingly at the time negligible was indeed more serious than that as it would take an entire rebuild of the arm to repair.

Gathering his Gunpla, Matteo gazed over at his opponent. "Ms. Gloster, that was an Amazing fight! I hope I can fight you again in the future" His kind-hearted smile, genuine in approach, shifted once more to attend to the model kit. Lovingly placing the unit back in it's resting pouch and gathering up the broken pieces before bowing and moving towards the exit. There wasn't much time, if he was going to the next round he'd have to fix the Serafino up and fast. Stopping for a moment, breaking his own thoughts, Matteo turned and checked the competitors board.

"I wonder how Asami's doing..."

As he scanned the board, he finally found Asami's name and was happily surprised that she'd moved on to the next round! Smiling he traced her line to see who she'd be fighting next. That smile faded swiftly as the realization dawned on him.

"Wahh! Asami's my next opponent?! Oh no no no no no!"

Turning on his heel, Matteo rushed backstage to quickly get to work on repairing his gunpla. If Asami was his next opponent, that means he'd have to fight against his "Boss" and the Dai Shogun they'd worked so hard to build! Matteo wasn't sure if this was a sign of things to come or another test of fate. Wincing, he proceeded to work on the Repairs, ignoring all other distractions.
