After some minor convincing on Misaki part she was able to convince her new found friend to join her in a cooperative battle using the GP base at the Torrington Academy club room. Upon setting the Gunpla models on the base a field was instantly selected. An icy landscape extended as far as the eyes could see revealing a devastated battlefield covered in white snow.

The REGZ and Dagger Spawn point was an entrenched position with the church spires of the city of Leningrad behind them. The echos of machinegun fire resonated at the distance and high in the sky swarms of German bomber aircraft soared freely with no opposition. This 'stage' was based of the historical siege of Leningrad which lasted from 1941 to 1944 and claimed the lives of millions.

From inside the devastated city the eerie scream of the air raid siren resonated all over the combat area. The field was littered with the wreck of large caliber guns, smoldering tanks and trucks from both sides and even frozen corpses of infantrymen killed in the savage fighting.

The objective of this match was stopping every single breaktrough attempt made by the unknown enemy opposition until the 15 minute timer ran out. Misaki REGZ turned its head around scanning the surroundings with its beam rifle at the ready. " its just the two of us so lets stick together and cover each other." was her simple instruction.

Yuuka wasn't entirely sure how Misaki had convinced her to join her in a cooperative battle, maybe it was getting to spend a bit of time together with her new friend, or maybe it was the chance for practice, or maybe it was both but for whatever reason she had agreed to it.

The landscape that appeared before them upon setting their models on the base was an icy one, a devastated battlefield covered in snow. The spawn point seemed to be an entrenched position with what could be recognized as the church spires of Leningrad behind them. In the distance was the echo of machinegun fire and there were swarms of aircraft soaring high in the sky.

Admittedly there was a sense of excitement but also some sense of dread that Yuuka felt as the Dagger scanned the area, the field being littered with corpses and wreckage, this was very obviously a battleground.

"Understood.'" She replied to the instruction as the Dagger stood with it's shield at the ready, ready to move at any time.

" Here grab this." The REGZ extended its rifle for Yuuka's Dagger to take it. Without ranged weapons their chances of successfully completing this brutal training dropped drastically. Even without a rifle the REGZ was still equipped with Vulcans, three grenades and four hip mounted rockets. More than enough to deal with anything that might show up or so she thought ...

Their enemies where five Geara Zulu models painted in a faded white tone that provided some degree of concealment across the icy landscape. Two of these remained in a kneeling stance in a treeline 3 miles to the south west of the girls current position. Being AIs these five Zeonic machines where able to contact each other almost instantly just like a digital hive mind. The main enemy force consisting of three Zulus that had taken positions at the other side of a large hill barely a mile away from the entrenched position in which the two girls where making their stand. Thanks to the spotters information these attackers where able to deduce the optimal firing position taking aim with the grenade launchers mounted under the beam assault rifles right over the hill. After minor course correction they all opened fire deducing the optimal firing arc for the grenades to fall within close proximity of the REGZ and Dagger.

The sound of falling projectiles was heard by Misaki but before she could comment on that the high explosives began raining all over the area they where currently occupying sending dirt and debris high into the air from every possible directions. Thanks to the hill providing excellent cover Misaki was unable to see the who was shooting at them. The only thing she could do was raise her machine 's shield covering its Torso section from the shock waves that threatened to knock out critical components if left unchecked.

Yuuka knew that her Dagger needed a ranged weapon, in hindsight it had actually been pretty dumb of her to remove all of it's ranged weapons in the first place, she realized that now. It was definitely a problem that would have to be fixed once she had the opportunity to do so.

Anyways, for now the Dagger took the rifle that the REGZ extended to it. "Yeah, thanks." At least now it would have a ranged weapon for the moment so this would be just a bit easier, though by no means did she expect it to go entirely smoothly. She just hoped that she would be able to remain calm, this was only training but it was going to be brutal and she needed to be able to focus entirely.

Speaking of focusing, she needed to do that now as the sound of falling projectiles reached her ears, unfortunately though as projectiles rained down all over the area she couldn't see where the fire was coming from, for now all she could do was raise the Dagger's shield to defend it as much as possible from the shock waves coming at them. Since she couldn't see where the opposition was all that could be done for now was defend and wait for a lead to move.

Already she could feel herself shaking, having to take a deep breath to calm herself. She couldn't let herself panic, definitely not so soon.

The shelling stopped momentarily and from the looks of it the REGZ received minimal damage due to the limited nature of the attack. " Those cheating AIs got us spotted now. we'll have to move." The intent behind the attack was meant to keep their heads down as the two Zulus on the treeline far away advanced out of concealment. out of the wood works the two mono eye machines stopped dead on their tracks and laid flat on the ground maximizing the camouflage given by their dirty white coat of paint. The two enemy groups where planning an advance covering each other until they where positioned at their flanks a textbook infantry maneuver employed trough the years.

The other three Geara Zulus now out of rifle mounted grenades climbed up the hill exposing solely their upper hulls and beam assault rifles firing accurate semi automatic burst that quickly saturated the trench line where the girls once stood. With their shoulder shields facing forward and the ground cover they where remarkably small targets to hit not to mention said shields could take a few return rounds no problem.

Misaki was quick to act making the REGZ push the Dagger out of the line of fire for a few seconds.

The shelling seemed to have stopped for the moment, the Dagger luckily having received minimal damage. The problem now though was that they had obvious been spotted so now really was the time to move. "Right!" In order for this to be entirely successful they would have to move as one, she knew that, but the problem was that they couldn't really tell where the opposition was.

Before she could act though suddenly the opposition opened fire, Yuuka almost panicking before she reminded herself that she wasn't alone in this and that someone was counting on her. The problem was that she had no idea what to do even as she was wracking her brain for ideas.

Suddenly though the REGZ pushed the Dagger of the line of fire. Once the Dagger was outside of the line of fire, it suddenly spotted the upper hulls of three machines, well that explained where the fire was coming from but how to deal with them? There had to be more somewhere around the area so they had to be careful.

She did have something that she wanted to test though and as the machines were still firing she made the Dagger raise the rifle that it had been given and fire off a couple of practice rounds into the distance towards the exact position where it was estimated that the shots were coming from, just to see what would happen.

Hitting low profile targets while being on the move was as beneficial as firing blindly. Even the accurate beam rifle needed to remain steady to ensure hits found their mark. the barrage Yuuka fired at the three Zulus had little effect missing the entrenched cyclop machines by a country mile or impacting the hill they where using as cover.

Regardless this offensive action gave Misaki an opening to strike with an attack of her own. " move around the hill and flank these assholes i'll cover you." Right now the two girls where in a killzone while their enemies enjoyed a privileged position with good cover. In order to even the odds it was necessary to get around the terrain striking at their flanks and rear.

The REGZ picked up a grenade stored on its shield rack with its right hand no longer burdened by the beam rifle. In order to extended the range of the throw Misaki pushed the throttle giving her Gunpla a considerable boost while tossing the explosive device away ensuring the extra energy would propel it farther. The grenade exploded right in front of the three Zulus and while it wasnt clear they had been hurt or not the amount of dirt, snow and particles the blast had raised was enough to give them a short breathing space.

Yuuka hadn't really expected to hit much of anything, really she had been hoping for maybe a bit of a momentary distraction at best. It seemed that she hadn't even been close though so that was unlikely.

She had already been starting to realize even before Misaki's instruction that the only hope they would at evening the odds would be if they could manage to strike at their flanks, though that was still easier said than done. However there was still a chance of being able to get it done regardless, they just had to be quick about it and couldn't afford to waste any time.

As such, just as soon as the grenade was thrown Yuuka slightly pushed on the throttle, beginning to quietly move the Dagger into position, scanning the surroundings to see if there was anything that could be used as effective cover just in case it ended up being needed. Luckily the blast from the grenade had raised enough dirt, snow, and particles to give them a short breathing space.

Once in position on the enemy's rear she would dive behind whatever cover she could possibly find and then the Dagger would raise the beam rifle once more and fire a few shots, this time hopefully at least doing something. She would have preferred to get close and just slice them but she knew that she couldn't risk it. This would have to do for now.

While receiving enemy fire, Misaki wondered if she'd done the right thing asking Yuuka to take part in such a difficult training exercise. Clearly the blonde was not very comfortable with medium to long range offensive armaments or maybe it was the lack of proper practice in a training ground as opposed to going up against an enemy that out gunned and outnumbered.

Perhaps the blonde would feel more comfortable with something like a hand carried grenade launcher or a shotgun in other words a weapon that did not rely on accuracy to inflict grave injuries to its targets. Maybe an automatic cannon with a high rate of fire for saturating an area with a literal wall of fire.

The beam rifle shots she'd fired hurt the Zulus punching a hole in the arm of one of the attacking machines, due to its high penetration the beam blast went right trough the other side effectively putting it down for good. Unfortunately the only cover available at the time was uneven terrain, a large profile mobile suit would have to go prone laying flat on the ground to 'maximize' the effect of cover.

Capitalizing on this success Misaki's REGZ ran forward using its shield to absorb the lower volume of fire she now faced. Once the gap had been closed the aggressive girl drew one of the beam sabers skewering the closest Zulu in a single thrust.

This success left her exposed to the last remaining Geara Zulu who simply fired its beam assault rifle at close range. After the beating the shield had taken these beams tore right trough damaging the left arm and leaving white hot dots on its face and chest signal that they had gone trough. Just like any other type of fire arms beams could more easily go trough protection at close ranges.

This was good, they had managed to take down two of the Zulus, she having put one down by firing a blast right through it while Misaki had skewered another, but at the same time. .it seemed like it had been a bit too easy. Still though she couldn't let that phase her, there was still work to be done so there was no room for distracting thoughts. The only question that remained was how to take out that third Zulu, positioning didn't really allow for her to fire off another shot without risking friendly fire so her best option would be to rush in and try to bisect it while it was distracted, which was exactly what she was going to do.

Pushing on the throttle she took advantage of the machine's focus on Misaki to dash up behind it with the Dagger's sword drawn and then having it attempt to slice it's target with a diagonal slash while it was distracted. Hopefully this worked, at the very least it should provide an opportunity and really that was all that she could hope for

Before the REGZ could be finished off by the attacking Zulu its torso was split in half by Yuuka's blazing sword. Under the effects of gravity The severed Torso still holding the automatic rifle fell aside, its weapon still firing until the charge on the magazine ran out. Only the waist and legs remained standing, another simulator victory for the blonde woman.

This victory was short lived since the two remaining Geara Zulu's where moving in at a steady walking pace next to each other. The one on the left was casually hurling grenades at them which where propelled by a small rocket unit towards the middle of the girl's ranks very much like a guided missile. Three of these explosive devices where thrown in total. The second Zulu to the right performed a rocket assisted jump with its backpack unit bearing down on the two teenagers with its single shot Rocket launcher Once he had a clear shot right to the small area dividing the REGZ and Dagger. They where combining their explosive effort knowing the ensuing blast would kill anyone unlucky enough to get caught in that killzone.

Yuuka was mentally celebrating at another victory but there was no time to relax yet and she knew that so with a deep breath she focused back on the battle, just in time for them to come under attack once more. She knew that had been a bit too easy, but what she hadn't expected was for grenades to start falling. There were two more Zulus coming in towards them, the grenades coming from the one on the left while the one on the right was firing at them with a rocket launcher. Obviously they were trying to make sure that anyone in the killzone would guaranteed to be killed by the ensuing blast.

"Don't bother trying to defend, just run!" Taking a deep breath she pushed on the throttle, the Dagger dashing to a clear area to the left, away from the hill just after the Zulu with the rocket had fired, running until she was out of the killzone. This was getting dangerous but there was still a way to win this, they just needed to be patient and wait their enemies out instead of just charging in, otherwise they may get caught in an attack like that again.

" I'll be damned." The damaged REGZ was nowhere near as nimble as Yuuka's dagger in this condition. The lightweight design clearly had a superior thrust to weight ratio. Running away from the area the explosive force knocked Misaki's Gunpla flat on its face. If this had been a real Mobile suit battle that fall alone would have killed the pilot due to the forces of inertia that where in play when a multi ton machine like that knocked against the cold, frozen ground.

The Zulu responsible for the grenade attack reached out for the beam tomahawk with its free hand while firing a controlled burst from its assault rifle at the approaching Dagger. It stood still knowing firing on the move was a silly notion. Whoever programed these AIs was an expert.

Using the boosters installed on the legs and backpacks the Zulu with the rocket launcher softened its landing, hurling the spent launcher at its enemies, the empty disposable cylinder flew straight at Yuuka but it was merely a distraction of sorts. a way to keep the pressure up.
