The G-muse shopping center frequently sponsored events on the weekends which consisted of team battles where participants recreated events from famous Gundam animes. This weekend the scheduled event was 0080 themed, a string of battles where each team would compete for supremacy and cash prices for the winners. The participants where all issued with masterfully sculpted model kits belonging to each faction for the first round the Earth Federation team where all given GM Cold types. Zeon players Hyggogs and Z'gok'E for the team leader who'd been chosen at random.

The holographic field today was an antarctic military installation with defensive lines protecting an space shuttle launch site. Earth Federation players where given the objective to prevent the opposite side who deployed from a submarine to reach the shuttle and destroy it. In case Zeon players managed to reach the shuttle victory would go to them regardless of losses or performance in battle.

( Post order is as follows! Zeon players get the first move and must all post before 48 hours. Once players begin engaging each other they can disregard the posting order focusing on the opponent they are currently fighting. If the attackers fail to reach the objective in 15 minutes* 64 posts in real time.* the mission will be considered a failure.)

EDIT: the 48 hour rule will be heavily enforced by yours truly. also whoever, fails to post after the 48 IRL time limit TWICE will be automatically expelled from the fight and replaced by SOMEONE else for the subsequent following battles. The only exceptions would be if said person notifies us that its going to be absent for certain amount of time, time in which we'll continue the battle anyways.)

Michael Grimme had signed up for the event upon hearing that it was 0080 themed. Not to mention the fact that he figured he could use some practice. Beforehand he had made sure to re-watch the beginning of Gundam 0080 War In The Pocket as to get some details on the arena beforehand. Though for all he knew the arena was different. So it may or may not help him in this situation but ether way he felt he was ready for event. So here he sat in the lobby waiting for the event to begin. He looked forward to meeting who else would be on the Zeon side. Michael himself had been given a MSM-03C Hygogg and felt it was a good mobile suit. He found the amphibious mobile suits interesting in their design and how they differed from their space and ground counterparts. Waiting for the event to begin he gave a stretch and gave a quick look around having arrived a tad early.

"Now that is swell" said Hideo, walking up next to Michael. Worry had turned to happy excitement when he realized the battle hadn't started yet. He had signed up for the battle as an afterthought, picking the Zeon side for interest in using an aquatic mobile suit. He had gone swimming the day before to try and "visualize" how he might move and operate the Hygogg. Watching the OVA was wonderful, but the animation was so fluid that he had a hard time meshing the concepts together. Plus he wanted to justify owning a snorkel he bought a year ago on a spending spree.

Reaching into his pocket, he drew the primer which contained details about the first battle. He perused it as he walked up to the battle stage, where event staff were standing by with the Gunpla and details. One of the staff informed him that the other contestants were getting ready as well, and handed him the Hygogg Gunpla to inspect. Hideo took his time with this, not so much for making sure the Gunpla was suitable for the fight, but just to measure the construction and technical aspects. It was very, very well done, he realized. The staff member reminded him of the battle objectives and made sure Hideo had all questions answered. Satisfied, he walked off and waited for the others. Hideo sat the Gunpla next to the GP Base and sat in a chair, stretching his legs and looking for the other contestants. He was eager to meet them.

As Akira entered the building, he spotted one of the staff who had a box filled with gunpla for today's event. "Excuse me, I'm here for the event." The man nodded and handed him a Hygogg. Akira took his seat and immediately pulled a magnifying glass out of one of his many pouches. He inspected every centimeter of the gunpla to make sure there were no imperfections in its construction. Whoever had put together this particular model had done an extraordinary job paying attention to even the most minute of details. There was not a single leftover nub of plastic. It was perfectly sanded and polished, no rough patches. The parts were all snapped together perfectly with no broken bits. Akira was astounded by the craftsmanship.

In his excitement, he couldn't help, but wonder if this attention to detail had been applied to all of the kits. He couldn't get the notion out of his mind that perhaps he had gotten the only perfectly constructed kit in the box. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a Hygogg kit sitting next to a GP Base. He set his kit down and quickly snatched the other one and began inspecting every centimeter of it. Not a single imperfection could be found. "These are the most masterfully crafted kits I've seen in a while." He said with excitement.... and then it dawned on him that he had grabbed someone elses kit without permission. Looking up from the kit, he spotted a familiar face. "Oh...um...hello, sir. It's nice to see you again." He said as he slowly and gently set the kit back where he found it.

Kurtz found himself designated as team leader. Leading a bunch of children in this tournament event. He had signed up since he had heard it was a team event and that it was a fictional military operation from the anime. So surely someone with a military mind would have some sort of advantage, even without much experience in Gunpla battle. To his horror, Kurtz found out that it was an amphibious infiltration mission. Amphibious and infiltration were two things that the Panzergrenadiers were not called upon to perform. They had learned the basics and talked with the troops from other branches but they didn't use Pumas and Wiesels as landing craft! That was a job for the Jäger or Gebirgsjäger units. Even the Fallschirmjäger made more sense for infiltration, if not amphibious operations. They, at least, were supposed to be surrounded by overwhelming force. Panzergrenadiers were trained to be right behind the panzers, supporting their flanks or mopping up behind them.

Still... the principles of warfare had to remain pertinent. Deception, leadership, and all of that other stuff. Even if the tactics were going to require some ... inventiveness on everyone's part. Now to hope that the kids knew their stuff.

Kurtz looked across at the opposing team ... More children. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea after all.

He looked at the Gunpla he'd been given for the match. A Z'Gok E. After trying and failing to understand how the letters formed a pronounceable word, Kurtz examined that stat sheet it came with. Two beam cannons in the arms. Like Iron Man. Six torpedo tubes... in its head. That was certainly different. Then four large claws for close quarters. That sounded okay. But how was its mobility on land?

"Alright, kameraden. Make sure you've got de missile pods attached. We will need de ordinance. Anyone know dis scenario and what we can expect?"

Alex was grinning, he was already in the battle system with his unit. He was running patrol around the arctic base, testing the performance of the machine. "I love the Cold Type, second only to the GM Sniper 2." he smirked with his comment. Glancing around the base, he spoke to himself as he placed his unit at grouping of hangers. "This is Phalanx Four, I'm in position." he was indicating over the comm unit to his team. Glancing over the baser, active vehicles and miniature Earth Federation soldiers moving around the base. He turned towards the water with a grin, squeezing his controls "I'm ready, you Zeon bastards." he said.

It wasn't completely unexpected that Mei-ling would find herself willingly pulled into a promotional event, especially when it was a Gunpla promotional event. Though she wasn't aware of what she was getting herself into, the excitement she felt at entering another tournament so soon after the last one was enough to calm her nerves and allowed her to maintain a modicum of focus on the "operation" she would be leading. She'd never led people before, then again this was a recreation of a very famous event from Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. And luckily, Mei-ling was on the side of the 'good guys', the Federation, charged with defending a shuttle from an impending Zeon assault.

She appeared not soon after Alex took his place near the hangars, remarking at how serious and immersive her teammate made it seem. For some strange reason the voice sounded familiar to Mei-ling, though she knew not from where or why. Shrugging she moved the GM past the defensive trenches and lowered it into a crouch, wedging the shield it held down in front of her to act as both a protective barrier and firing position. Resting the Type-2 90mm GM rifle on top, she waited in preparation for the Zeon's arrival by sea. She breathed in, then out. They even gave them all headsets to communicate with each other; which was pretty cool and neat.

"Hello Phalanx Four, I guess I'm Phalanx One."

Hideo thought he recognized the voice, but wasn't sure until he looked up.

"Hey man, how are ya?" he said, standing up and bowing to the guy. He instantly remembered him from the shop. "Akira, was it? Your name?" he asked. "I didn't introduce myself, cuz I had to bounce to pick my car up, but my name's Hideo." Considering the whole tactical premise of the battle, Hideo wasn't too concerned with the whole "theme" being authentic to the show. Sure, they got the Gunpla and setting right, but all of the competitors were in the same area, and could hear each other talk. Didn't bother him, of course. The whole idea of historical re-enactment excited him, and he was here to play hard and have fun. "And yeah, these Gunpla's are a beauty. I build and fight with my own, but my craftsmanship is nowhere this detailed" he lamented.

The staff seemed to be pretty lax, he saw. Some of the players had already entered their Gunpla to the GP Base, and he looked across the stadium to see the glow of the view screens. Hideo gave a look to a nearby staff member, followed by a shrug. The staff member said they could enter at any time, since the rules didn't specify they all had to "attack" at once. "Well bro, this is us then" he said, smiling and turning to the tall foreigner on his other side. He listened to him speak and nodded, happy to recognize him. He gave a deep bow as well. Unsure of the man's name but aware that he was the leader, Hideo responded with deference. For the time being, he referred to him as sir. More of a note of respect.

"I've got the torp gloves on, sir. The scenario is that our mobile suits are supposed to infiltrate from the water, reach the launch pad, and take out the shuttle there. The opposing teams' Gunpla's can be engaged or avoided, it matters not to the objective. If I remember correctly, the Zeon unit we represent was supposed to have the element of surprise, but obviously that's not gonna happen" he chuckled, brushing his hair. "They're using GM Commands, who can handle the cold really well. They're under-armed though; a machine gun each, beam sabers, and a shield. We have the range and speed advantage I think, but they're pretty agile."

He looked down at his GP Base, making sure the configurations were right.

"Bottom line, it's your call sir." After Hideo said that, he remembered that the Gunpla's had torpedoes. He wondered if they could just swim around to where the launch pad was and fire torpedoes at it.

Michael Grimme looked to Hideo upon hearing him and offered a smile in return figuring this was one of the Zeon Team members he would be fighting alongside with. He then watched as Hideo went over and retrieved his own gunpla before getting up himself and giving a stretch. Michael looked to the MSM-03C Hygogg he had been given and knew of the advantages and disadvantages it held. Already he was thinking of a plan at the point thinking he would go maybe through the underwater tunnel. Down there once in the tunnels he thought MSM-03C Hygogg would be more suited to the close quarters. Seeing Hideo go on over and place his gunpla next to the GP base he did the same except he stayed standing. Seeing Akira approach and interact with Hideo he didn't say anything though examined his own gunpla a bit more.

When Kurtz came over he looked to him as he spoke, and gave a nod before looking to his MSM-03C Hygogg making sure that the missile pods were attached. He then let Hideo explain the scenario, though noticed that he left out some information."Got mine locked on and secured as well." he said to Kurtz with a pause."The scenario is based on Operation Rubicon from the OVA 0080: War in the Pocket. If it is accurate then there should be an under water tunnel entrance in the ice. From what I recall when the operation is shown it leads to a submarine dock connected to an underground facility with tunnels leading directly to lift tower which in return leads to the shuttle area. There is a topside base but it in the OVA is essentially a decoy. Also to get to the topside base one needs to cross open tundra which has no real cover to speak of. Though you can get to the shuttle through there to." he said with a pause."Personally I think through the submarine dock would be the best bet sir." he said giving his recommendation.

Michael then turned to his MSM-03C Hygogg and grabbed it before placing it on the GP base. Once the controls popped up he took hold and waited for a moment. His MSM-03C Hygogg would then of course launch out the bottom of a Zeon Jukon-class. Looking around for a moment he visualized the way he expected the underwater passage to be knowing he could halt there and wait for his team. Keeping an eye on his sensors he pushed the throttle forward and began to move through the water. He kept the MSM-03C Hygogg in it's underwater cruise mode as he kept moving through the cold antarctic water. After a some traveling he would spot the entrance up ahead first on the sensors and then by eye sight. Easing off the forward throttle he would come to a stop at the entrance."At the sub tunnel." he would tell his teammates.

Kurtz's mind whirled as tactics and various plans came to mind. A diversionary attack up top would tie down the defenders while a second team infiltrated... No. That diminished the assault force and was only advisable when a clear advantage was to be had. At the same time, he couldn't send in the entire force all at once. He who commits his reserves last wins the battle.

"Two pairs," Kurtz said, designating Akira and Michael Seelöwe 3 and 4. Himself and Hideo were Seelöwe 1 and 2. He didn't know the English equivalent. "Seelöwe 3 and 4 will advance to de sub dock and attack without relent! We will follow up behind as support and take over de assault when you become damaged. Overwhelm them with missile fire as you close for de kill. Do not stop advancing. If you cannot continue, we will take your place in de charge. We will begin de assault when I fire my torpedoes into de dock. Then we go. Dran, drauf, drüber, kameraden!"

With that, Kurtz advanced his Z'Gok forwards behind Michael towards the entrance of the tunnel.

It was a simple plan and had the possibility being entirely fatal for a single reason. If the enemy forewent the surface defense, then they would be in a bottle neck. Missiles from the Hygoggs in close quarters, however, would be the way forward. They could not escape from such powerful warheads in close quarters. At the same time, it had the necessary aggression for such an operation. The first few moments of any assault were vital and the leading pair had to continue to advance, lest the attack bog down. If they fell, then Kurtz and the other fellow would continue the attack. Ideally, the leading pair could blow away all opposition so Seelöwe 2 could destroy the transport. But plans never unfolded ideally.

He watched as the others got into position as well. So Kurtz maneuvered in front of the entrance, angled his MS and fired each of his six torpedoes in sequence.

"Vorwarts, kameraden! Angriff!"

Six distinctive booms marked the beginning of their battle, but what bothered Mei-ling the most was the fact she didn't see any Zeon amphibious mobile suits coming up from the waters in front of them. It would appear that someone in the opposite team knew that the base itself was a decoy; though she had to expect that in a room filled with Gundam Professors. "Umm .. Phalanx Four, we should go take the secondary lift down; I think the enemy team know about the underwater submarine bay." She would say, her voice filled both excitement and urgency as the "historical" battle deviated. It would appear the entire Zeon team decided to focus their efforts instead of separating into two teams. Now Mei-ling wished they had at least one more person.

Turning the GM around she would head towards the lift. The launch would be ready in around fourteen minutes, and it would take the enemy team at least two to three minutes to make it up to where the submarines were held and infiltrate the base. If they could hold them inside the lower sub-levels for that long though, then victory would be their's.

"Phalanx One..Phalanx Leader, really up to you on the call sign." Alex chuckled and kept scanning around the perimeter of the base. "Yeah, it would just be our luck if they decided to frontal assault the base." he sighed a bit but smiled. "You think a fight in the tunnels is a good idea though?" he reined his GM over to the lift with Mei-ling's. "Not alot of room to move, or cover for that matter. Unless you count hiding around a corner cover." he parked his GM as he described the tunnels.

He waited as the lift started lowering them down. "What is the plan, Phalanx One?" he looked at Mei-ling. Glancing to the empty slots near them, noticing how only two of them are active in the match. "I'm all for being the underdog, but I do like a little planning at least." he grinned.

Operation British Survivor
William eagerly got himself setup in front of him. The Gunpla he that was given to him for the event was of a good grade and with a twist of the orbs in front of him, the GM-cold type responded in kind. This was to be his first gunpla battle, not that he would be entering the battle completely unprepared in any way. William sat at home for the last 2 days on his laptop, researching about gunpla. Operation Tutorials, past battles. William studied this new way of warfare like he was studying and training back 3 years ago.

He heard that there were people who were vets in here fighting but that didn't deter him from entering, nor trying. The event had no real downsides. It wouldn't matter if he lost the gunpla in battle, nor if his team lost. The primary reason he was here was to gain experience in a real battle.

“Just like the tutorials I watched.” he spoke to himself as he moved himself out of the launch area. He was told by the organizers to walk out, not fly out as it was seen on the show he watched on the internet. He would be placed near his allies in this battle. Slowly William took in the surroundings around him. A military base in the middle of the snow and ice.

He watched the 2 other machines who were the same as him being started to be lowered down in a lift of some kind.. Guessing that they were heading to intercept the enemy, William decided to follow the others. They would know more on what would be happening around them.

He lit up his verniers as he tried to catch up to his teammates. He had to rush, the doors for the lift were closing and he had little time to get there.“Reinforcement reporting. I hope you don't mind a new comer helping you out” William spoke over on the team radio as he managed to fly into the lift just before the large metal doors behind him closed.

Mei-ling let out a quiet squeal of approval as another voice chimed in to announce his arrival as their reinforcements. This was good for though she was confident in both herself and her teammate; Mei-ling felt they wouldn't have held the line for as long. With the arrival of their new comrade, she could put the plan into effect. "Don't worry, Phalanx Four, I'm sure the team commander on the opposite end is thinking the same as you. Though I'm sure you noticed that none of them decided to attack us on the surface," she would begin to explain, turning her head towards the GM's perspective to see how far down until they would reach the bottom before continuing.

"So someone on their team knows about the decoys up top and the submarine tunnel below .. which means they'll have a general idea where to go, so when we reach the bottom; I'd like for you, Phalanx Four, to bring the ceiling down the hall to your right with your grenade launcher. That should force them to go around the longer corridors, whereas from there we'll begin bringing down the ceiling every two passages, delaying them from simply going straight for the shuttle." It was a strange feeling, giving orders to her fellow Gunpla enthusiasts. Her blood was boiling with excitement, fingers tingling with each light that flickered past their GM's. This was a battle. A simulated war.

Turning her attention towards the newcomer, she would smile. "As for you, I'll .. call you Phalanx Three, since we're missing one. That way, if anyone else joins, they can call themselves that. Between the three of us, we should have about six grenades, so .. Phalanx Four, you'll fire the first grenade followed by Three. The last corridor before the remaining two will be caved in by me. That'll leave us all with at least one grenade each, so make sure you don't forget the order. Every two corridors we pass, bring the ceiling down above you. Once we hit the last two, we'll hold our positions there and wait for the enemy to come to us. I'll think up defensive positions later once we've reached the final phase." Mei-ling would continue, her mind computing and deleting as she went on.

"We'll most likely be engaged by the enemy half a minute after we get off the lift. Do not engage them if we do encounter the enemy, deviate if you have to in order to preserve your mobile suit, but do your best to stick with the plan. If you get left behind, use the other two corridors to go around and link up with us instead, got it?"

Michael Grimme looked back and saw Kurtz right behind him and listened as he gave them their orders before giving a nod."Yes sir." He said before pushing the throttles forward and began treading water at top speed in his MSM-03C Hygogg. Up ahead he would see the flash of explosions as the torpedoes struck. He knew that in the anime the alarm would be sounding by now so he would have to be quick. Upon surfacing he gave a quick look around the wrecked submarine dock with his monoeye flashing. Seeing no sign of the enemy he pushed his controls and began out of the water slightly slower now."Here we go..." he said knowing the enemy team was probably onto them now.

Immediately once on dry land he began having his MSM-03C Hygogg run down the large corridor which had a distinctive orange glow to it. At that he 'smoothly' transitioned to a jump where he kicked rocket thrusters and began rocketing down the corridors though with restraint not wanting to smahs into anything to hard. Though upon comming to tight and ridged corners he would stop with the thrusters and transition back to a sprint. He was now approaching the Federation mobile suit lifts as he was taking the main route.

This sight distracted him for a moment almost causing him to smash into a wall which he narrowly avoided with a quick jerk of the movement controls. He considered taking a shot at the lifts as they came down to maybe slow their progress but decided otherwise."Sir, they are coming down the lifts. I am going to head for the lift tower and go for it." he said to both Kurtz and his fellow teammates. Quickly he resumed running forward wanting to put as much distance towards the lift tower as he could. Though he made sure to keep an eye on his rear so he could have some warning. Where ever he could Michael would apply his thrusters a little to give him a very much needed speed boost. With that he was around the next corner and even further.

Michael had limited time on his hands and he knew that while this was risky if he where to get to the lift tower all he would need to do was rocket thrust up. He sure hoped his teamates where covering his back at this point. One thing of note was that his suit had gotten scratched up from some of the close calls he had before when he had been rocketing through the corridor.

"I figured as much, since I never saw any contacts on the surface." he took a minute to go over the map as orders were given out. "Copy, I'll bring down that section." he answered and looked down the lift as it lowered them closer to the tunnels. "I'm kind of itchy to engage these guys. I won't let them pass." he said as he marked a passage to the shuttle. "If we close off the passages, if our fourth man shows up he won't be able to get to us." he pointed out to the leader. "Unless it launches him by the shuttle, I don't know though." he wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Keep moving and don't get bogged down, should be simple enough. Our GMs have better movement then those Zeon suits on the land." he cocked a grin. "I don't plan on being a target like those guys in the anime." as the lift closed to the ground. "Phalanx Four, I'm jumping down to seal my tunnel and provide cover for you two when you get down." he stated. His GM slipping off the ramp and sliding down with some support from the thrusters to stabilize him. Even if it was a just thirty seconds earlier then the elevator, it was better to be sooner then later. Standing his GM up and turning toward the right tunnel. With a selection of his control orbs, the GM fired it's grenade launcher at the passage way ceiling.

Alex snapped to face the left passage as the right one caved it from the damage caused by the round. "It's clear for now, so once you two get down here. I'll follow behind you!" he called out as he watched the corridor.

"Don't worry, if anything he can just go the long way around. Well .. if we do get someone else in here, anyways." Mei-ling would say, smiling.

Right after Phalanx Four did his maneuver down the elevator lifts, subsequently following her instructions, Mei-ling noticed a figure barreling through the smoke; bursting out from the now blocked off corridor. The lift only had a little ways left to go so she decided to just leap off, using the GM's thrusters to slow her descent before landing upon the metallic floor. Turning it about, she immediately boosted after the running Hygogg, raising the machine gun in it's hand she fired off a volley of rounds towards it's backside; hoping to disable the beast before it got too far. Having only seen the one though, Mei-ling was certain the rest of the enemy team was lagging just behind. It was effectively isolated from the rest of the group.

"Phalanx Four, Phalanx Three, stick to the plan! I'll go after this one!" She would call out, biting her lip as she focused on the chase.

Michael kept pressing the controls hard though let up knowing not to push hard. He had been relieved when he managed to get on through before the corridor collapsed and made sure to note it for the future. With smoke no doubt trailing behind him now he almost failed to notice Mei-ling taking chase. He had noticed first thanks to his sensors and then to glancing around himself."Crap!" he said wide eyed upon seeing the RGM-79D GM Cold Climate Type having taken aim. Quickly in an attempt to dodge he kicked thrusters and jumped to the right as he ran smashing and scraping against the corridor wall. It did little good as the rounds tore and pitted through the back of his left shoulder. Warning lights went off as he quickly adjusted himself and continued to run kicking thrusters. He then bent and twisted the highly flexible arms of his MSM-03C Hygogg back both the one covered in the missile pod and the one that was not. Quickly he aimed and fired his missile pod at the ceiling a bit ahead of the pursuing RGM-79D GM Cold Climate Type as to help with it not getting ahead of the blast. Basically aiming for a spot directly between the two of them. With a squeeze of the trigger he would fire all three missiles at once discarding the casing. They would go forth and impact the ceiling with a large combined explosion that would like with the previous grenade launchers collapse the ceiling. However unlike the grenade launcher this would have way more of an impact and send the MSM-03C Hygogg off balancing and forward crashing into a wall very heavily denting some spots even directly caving in the arm that had the missile pod on it making it almost useless.
