The night air was crisp and cool, the moon full. Everything was quiet at Cross Academy. It was a stark change from the chaos of the war mere weeks ago. The school was still in disarray. Kaname and Yuki were in hiding though that was all the silver haired young man knew. He wasn’t one of the ones that was trusted with their exact location and it irked him.
Why hadn’t they trusted him?
Oh right, he'd tried to kill them.
Giving a soft snort Zero shook his head running a hand through his bangs. It wasn’t as if the two purebloods really needed his help anyway. Dark eyes flickered around the courtyard. It was way too quiet for the vampire hunter’s liking. He automatically did another sweep but couldn’t immediately detect anything out of place. Then a soft rustling reached his ears. Whipping around the silver haired young man came face to face with a petite brunette dressed in a black Lolita style dress.
“Yu-Yuki.” He murmured his expression full of disbelief until the brunette girl chuckled softly an amused smile on her face. Then he knew that this was indeed Yuki, the pureblood Yuki.
“Yes, Zero-kun it’s me. I’m glad you’re not angry with me.” She answered and ducked her head slightly, an expression so like the old Yuki that it caught Zero off guard for a moment. He so desperately wanted the old Yuki back. He wanted the girl back that had cleaned up his wounds, had told him everything was going to be alright.
“What do you want?” he asked stiffly. Yuki looked up at him a hurt expression on her face.
“I want to take care of you Zero. I want to bandage your wounds, hold you close. Isn’t that what you want to? Don’t you want me?” The brunette asked her brown eyes wide and wounded. Zero glared at the vampire in front of him.
“You aren’t the Yuki I know.” He answered and added, “Why are you here? I thought you were in hiding.” He folded his arms across his chest in what might have been a sullen gesture on most. Yuki sighed and pouted slightly at Zero.
“Kaname-sama said its safe, that we can come out now. The other vampires need us now. They need order in this chaos.” She replied as a tall slender figure seemed to appear out of nowhere and stride toward them. Zero immediately recognized Kaname Kuran and wished he had killed the vampire when he’d had the chance. He had his gun on him; it wouldn’t take anything to aim the gun and pull the trigger… Then Yuki shifted placing herself between the two young men. It had always been that way hadn’t it? It was funny how it had taken him this long to realize that.
“Whatever.” He muttered and added, “I have patrols to run.” He turned to leave and suddenly felt arms around his waist, a familiar form pressed against him.
“Don’t leave me. Please I can’t stand it when you’re upset.” Yuki’s soft voice was pleading and Zero wished that it was the old Yuki who was pleading with him. He might have listened then.
But even that was doubtful.
“Yuki, let him go. It’s for the best.” Kaname spoke in a gentle but firm tone. Yuki reluctantly let go and Zero could picture her expression. She would give him the puppy dog eyes to try to get him to stay. Zero started away again his own steps reluctant. He didn’t want to believe the old Yuki was really gone but she was.
And there was nothing he could do about that.
Absolutely nothing.

“That idiot! I can’t believe he followed me all the way here!” Sasuke growled glaring over his shoulder. Sure enough there was the blonde on the horizon. Why was that stupid knucklehead following him? It was just like him to not give up on a friend. Shaking his head sharply the Uchiha sighed.
Naruto would never learn would he?
“You know you can’t win so why do you insist on following me?” Sasuke asked as he paused half turning toward his former teammate. The holder of the nine-tailed fox demon skidded to a halt a few yards back. Blue eyes glared at Sasuke as Naruto’s hands clenched into fists.
“I don’t give up on my friends.” Naruto replied. “You’re being stupid Sasuke. Why can’t you just …”
“Forget?” Sasuke interrupted glaring at Naruto. “Forget that my brother murdered my family, my clan? I can’t forget that Naruto. And I can’t forgive him.” He finished. “Why can’t you let your friends help you?” Naruto asked his voice pleading. The blonde hung his head as he continued. “We want to help you Sasuke!”
“I don’t need your help.” Sasuke spat. How dare he think he knew everything? How could he just think he could barge in and fix everything? Turning on his heel he started off. Suddenly something whacked him hard in the back and he found himself flat on his back staring up at Naruto who was glaring at him.
“You arrogant, idiotic, jerk!” Naruto exclaimed. “Do you have any idea of the hell you put Sakura and I through thanks to your disappearing act?! Why the hell can’t you get it through your damn head that we want to help you?!” he all but shouted at the raven haired teen. Sasuke wasn't surprised at the outburst-everyone knew Naruto had a temper-but the blonde's words dug under his skin like sharp barbs.
"You can't save everyone and I'm the only one who can set this right." Sasuke replied starting to get up but he was whacked in the head again, Naruto scowling at him.
"That's a lie and you know it! I'm not letting you up till you get some sense into that thick skull of yours." the blonde growled. Silly jinchuriki he should know better by now.
But he was always blind where his friends were concerned.

"Move!" Ah-hin shouted as the trackers closed in. Gripping Connor's hand she all but dragged him down the path into the forest. "We have to keep moving." she spoke feeling the blind teen's reluctance.
"But Yukiro Mizuki..." he started and Ah-hin tugged on his arm.
"They're right behind us now come on!" she replied and that got him moving. They were near the cliffs and they needed them to take off. Finally they were there and she paused panting to catch her breath.
"Okay thirty feet ahead of us are the cliffs. I'm gonna take off and I want you to count to five before you follow okay?" Connor nodded and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze. "Listen so you know when to take off." she added before turning and sprinting full out toward the edge of the cliff.
One...
Her muscles ached and she just wanted to plop down but she forced her legs to keep moving forward.
...Two...
The cliff edge was closer now it was almost time.
...Three...
She unfurled her wings in preparation to take flight still running. She could hear the trackers getting closer but she saw Mizuki and Yukiro up in the air waiting for them.
...Four...
She pushed off from the cliff edge and for a moment was free-falling. Then she caught an updraft shooting up to meet Mizuki and Yukiro. Then gunshots erupted from the cliff edge and she let out a scream as she saw that Connor had been hit. He had followed earlier being freaked out by the trackers and now he was falling.
...Five.
She swooped down catching him under the arms. "Connor! CONNOR!" she shrieked but there was no answer from the dark haired teen. "N-no... NO!"

Sparkling angel, I believe You are my saviour, In my time of need Blinded by faith I couldn't hear All the whispers The warning's so clear
Leianna was furious. That woman had the gall to point blank refuse to listen to her suggestion on what to do about the rebels. The junior weyrwoman stormed into her room. To her surprise though, L'kal was waiting there. The blonde blinked instantly wary. The bronzerider was known to be one of her followers.
"Can I help you?" her voice was tense and clipped. The darkhaired rider smirked as he stood. L'kal stood at six feet two inches with strong broad shoulders and muscular arms. Normally he was the kind of man that would catch Leia's eye. If only his attitude was better.
"You know why I'm here. You owe me." the bronzerider answered. Leia frowned at the man.
"I don't know what you're talking about." she replied stiffly. That was just the thing she knew what he meant. She'd stood him up to go to the hatching where she'd impressed Fahith two turns ago. Then his bronze had lost Fahith's maiden Flight to B'rcen's Wryth.
Oh the tensions that ran through the Weyr.
I see the angels I'll lead them to your door There is no escape now Now mercy no more No remorse 'cause I still remember The smile when you tore me apart You took my heart Deceived me right from the start You showed me dreams I wished they'd turn to real You broke the promise And made me realise It was all just a lie
"Let go of me!" Leia shrieked furiously slapping at the strong hands that tried to restrain her. L'kal grinned at her pure masculine amusement in his lust-filled expression.
"No, like I said you owe me. And I intend to collect." he replied pulling her against him roughly. Leia squirmed in the man's grip desperately trying to break free of him. His grip was too strong though and she felt his hand slide up her shirt. She let out a scream that he tried to muffle by placing a rough kiss on her mouth.
"Let go of her!" a deep masculine voice ordered and Leia was relieved to see the familiar form of her weyrmate. B'rcen was furious glaring daggers at L'kal as he strode forward. "Are you deaf? Let her go!" he demanded raising a fist. But L'kal moved Leia between them forcing B'rcen to wait on his strike.
Sparkling angel Couldn't see Your dark intentions Your feelings for me Fallen angel Tell me why? What is the reason? The thorn in your eye
"B'rcen! B'rcen he's down!" Leia spoke frantically trying to calm her weyrmate. The man was furious but he stepped away from the bronzerider he'd knocked out. L'kal would be fine just out for a while. Leia wrapped her arms around B'rcen the both of them trembling slightly.
"I'm so glad you're okay." B'rcen murmured holding her close. Leia snuggled close to him smiling.
"I'm glad you got there when you did." she replied burying her face in his strong shoulder. He gently stroked her hair as the both of them calmed down. The healer they'd called for arrived and got the unconscious bronzerider out. The two riders stood embraced for long moments after the others were gone.
I see the angels I'll lead them to your door There is no escape now No mercy no more No remorse 'cause I still remember The smile when you tore me apart Could have been forever Now we have reached the end This world may have failed you It doesn't give the reason why You could have chosen A different path of life The smile when you tore me apart
[ Final paragraph to go here~ ]
You took my heart Deceived me right from the start You showed me dreams I wished they'd turn in to real You broke a promise And made me realise It was all just a lie Could have been forever Now we have reached the end
Sail away, my little sister Sail away to the other side
There's a light and a darkened road There's a night and a fading hope There was a dream that once was mine But now it seems it has passed with time
Sail away, my little sister Sail away to the other side Sail away, my little sister Sail away far into the night Where time seems much better Than this void called life
There's a voice inside my head There's a hope, now long since dead It's all a wonder, will I abide? I hear you calling from the other side
I hear you calling from the other side
Sail away, my little sister Sail away to the other side Sail away, my little sister Sail away far into the night Where times seems much better Than this void called life
I hear you calling from the other side
Sail away, my little sister Sail away to the other side Sail away, my little sister Sail away far into the night Where time seems much better Than this void called life
Why was I one of the chosen ones? Into the fight I could not see The magic and the strength of my power It was beyond my wildest dreams
Dark wings they are descending See shadows gathering around One by one they are falling Every time they try to strike us down
Don`t you die on me You haven`t made your peace Live life, breathe, breathe Don`t you die on me You haven`t made your peace Live life, breathe, breathe
Dark wings they are descending See shadows gathering around One by one they are falling Every time they try to strike us down
As they took your soul away The night turned into the day Blinded by your rays of life Gave us the strength we needed
Dark wings they are descending See shadows gathering around One by one they are falling Every time they try to strike us
Dark wings they are descending See shadows gathering around One by one they are falling Every time they try to strike us down
I`m searching for answers Cause something is not right. I follow the signs, I`m close to the fire.
I fear that soon you`ll reveal Your dangerous mind.
It`s in your eyes, what`s on your mind. I fear your smile and the promise inside. It`s in your eyes, what`s on your mind. I fear your presence, I`m frozen inside.

Circling your, circling your, circling your head, Contemplating everything you ever said Now I see the truth, I got doubt A different motive in your eyes and now I’m out See you later I see your fantasy, you want to make it a reality paved in gold See inside, inside of our heads (yeah) Well now that’s over I see your motives inside, decisions to hide
[Chorus:] (Fuck!) Back off I’ll take you on Headstrong to take on anyone I know that you are wrong Headstrong we’re headstrong Back off I’ll take you on Headstrong to take on anyone I know that you are wrong and this is not where you belong I can’t give everything away I won’t give everything away

[Chorus]
[Verse 3:] I know, I know all about [x3] I know, I know all about your motives inside, and your decision to hide
That was the color of her world now. There was no color, only bleak shades of gray and black. Perhaps there were stark patches of white but if there were she didn't notice them. She didn't notice much of anything these days but being blind would do that. Ariya had lost everything that fateful day. It was a day she wanted to forget with all the fiber of her being.
But she would never forget it.
It had been a quiet day. In retrospect it had been too quiet but no one had thought much of it. They were safe on the Island. Amaris didn't know where they were, couldn't find them. They hadn't heard too much from the mainland but that was expected with communications limited. It had to be that way with the Island Weyr being hidden, a safe haven from Amaris. Still no one had been expecting what had happened. It all started with the arrival of a lone greenrider. A petite redhead Ariya had recognized her from one of the lower weyrling classes. Syreaka had brought terrifying news, something they hadn't wanted to hear.
Amaris had destroyed Libertas.
Everyone at the mainland Weyr was dead if they rode a sport color and if they rode a normal color they were either dead or prisoners. She'd barely gotten away and she feared she'd been betrayed along the way though how she wasn't completely sure. The whole Island went into lockdown, everyone hiding. It was no use when the Amaris riders arrived. The fight waged on for an hour before the Island weyr was forced to surrender after the capture of Alesantra and her gold. The slaughter started shortly after noon. Ariya heard the screams of the other riders and dragons as they were murdered. Then they were dragging her to the hatching grounds where her beautiful dragon was chained with ichor covered chains to a wall dripping with the ichor of other dragons.
To this day she could feel the sharp thrusts of the knife that killed her dragon as she was raped. She could still hear her beloved black's screams echoed in her own screams and she still had nightmares about it. Gyitamimath's mangled corpse still burned in her memory despite the turns since that day. They left her for dead on the beach but a wherhandler found her and taking pity on her brought her to his quarters. He was no healer and anyone left alive on the island wasn't to be trusted save for the greenrider who'd warned them. Syreaka spirited her away in the night to a hold far from Libertas and Amaris. She'd caught Firehead shortly after arriving and spent months recovering. She ended up blind because of it and was now a charity case for the hold.
Or was that her pride talking?
You think you got the best of me think you had the last laugh Bet you think that everything good is gone think you left me broken down Think that I'd come running back baby you don't know me cause you're dead wrong What doesn't kill you makes you stronger stand a little taller Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone What doesn't kill you makes a fighter footsteps even lighter Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
She didn't want to go to the hatching. She didn't want to hear the happy cries of the newly impressed as they met their lifemates for the first time. There was too much pain in her heart for that. She wasn't ready for it but somehow he'd convinced her to go. T'kuro was persistent she had to give him that much.
Sharding bronzerider.
"Come on Ariya, we'll leave as soon as its over but you need to get out some more." T'kuro spoke as he gently guided her along the corridors of the new Weyr she called home. She smirked giving a soft snort.
"You're just lucky I can't smack you right now." she retorted sharply. He only laughed used to her bitter sense of humor by now. He guided them to seats that had a great view. Front row seats according to her guide. She simply humored him hardening her heart against the pain that was surely going to come. She heard the first of the dragonets break shell and tilted her head a bit.
"A brown. Seems like a healthy lad too." T'kuro commented. Ariya nodded though a pang went through her heart. M'ravi had ridden a brown. He'd died fighting though and she sharply shoved the memories away. She didn't need those right now. Hatchings were supposed to be joyful occasions weren't they?
To everyone but the dragonless.
"Looks like he impressed." she murmured hearing the applause and cheering around her.
"Yeah to an older farm lad." T'kuro replied. It went along more or less the same as the fifteen eggs hatched. They revealed two more browns, two bronzes, four greens, two blues, two reds, two blacks, and a platinum. All healthy hatchlings and they all impressed. A record if she was thinking correctly. Then the final egg, the queen egg hatched. She heard gasps and sharp intakes of breath as the hatchling was revealed. Blinking she turned to T'kuro.
"What is it?"
"A-A chimeric it looks like. I think our new queenlet is a gold-ruby." he answered seeming thoughtful. Curious Ariya tilted her head in the direction of the sands waiting for the joyful union as the queenlet impressed.
Silence reigned. Then a voice broke that silence.
MyAriyawhydoyouhidefromme?YoudorealizethatIwillrequirefoodyes? Ariya gasped going rigid. This couldn't be happening surely there was some mistake-her thoughts were cut off abruptly as a strong mind surrounded hers blocking everything else out. Iamsorrytodothismydearonebutyouleavemenochoice.YourAirayathisnotleavingsoIsuggestyoustopthisnonsenseatonce.IrealizeyouarehurtingbutIamheretotakethathurtaway.Iwillnotletanyonehurtyouagain,beloved.Now,ifyouwillhavetheniceyoungmanyouaresittingwithguideyoudownhere.Iamhungry,mydearone. The feminine voice was the only thing she heard in that space of time. She nodded then realizing that this was happening and that she didn't want to change it.
Alright I'm coming. she turned to T'kuro as she felt a pleased feeling flash through her new bond. "Take me down there will you? She's hungry."
"Of course." the bronzerider answered and she headed down to her new life. She didn't know what to expect.
