Hi everyone! My name is Patrick.
I wasn't at the first GBM, but I saw the poster advertising it today and wanted to join.
I would consider myself an amateur writer, having aspirations of one day being a part time novelist, but for now I can usually only keep my focus for short stories.
I took Fiction Writing I last semester and loved it, and I plan on taking part 2 next semester.
Unfortunately, I often have very little time to read and write as I am both an architecture major and a varsity football player. That said, I will probably br able to attend very few meetings, but I will try to get there to meet you all!

Hello and welcome to the forums, Patrick!

Many of us are amateurs as well, so don't worry about it. I too would like to become a writer, but don't have the patience/ inspiration to write anything longer than a short story either. Hopefully practice and experience will help me reach the goal of writing a novel, and that's what brought me here three semesters ago.

Fiction 2 is a wonderful class! There are more people who take the class seriously and better writing to critique and learn from.

It's okay if you don't have time to come to meetings; that's what the forums are for. If you have any questions or want opinions on anything, we're all glad to help. I look forward to talking with you some more, and good luck!

Hi Patrick, welcome to the forums!

Fiction Writing 1 and 2 are great courses, and since of our members have shared some of their works from those courses here. Who was your professor for Fiction Writing 1?

Ammar's covered the basics, and you certainly don't have to come to the meetings in order to be part of the club. Have a look around and you should be able to find some interesting topics and discussions. You're free to post your own stories if you like, and we have several works from basis club members in one of the subforums.

If you ever do have time and are interested in coming to one of the meetings, they're held at the same time and place most weeks -- 6-8pm Saturdays in the Wheeler Seminar Room. Otherwise, we're glad to have you here. Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. :)

I appreciate the welcome! My Fiction I teacher was Edward Herring and it was incredible.

It's been a busy few weeks with exams and such, so I apologize for the delayed response.
