For starters, he is not really approachable, always giving off an “I don’t want to be bothered with you” vibe. For those brave enough to approach him though, they will quickly find him to be a sarcastic a-hole who tends to talk down to other people as well. His mannerism and speech pattern gives off a slight sense of regality, as if he has been around those of high-society before, despite spending the majority his time mingling with lower to middle class people. Malik also seems to have some prejudice against all things not pure human (that includes the gifted, which includes himself) and will often go on a tantrum about the plight of the defaults (a Pseudo city slang for humans with no gifts or alterations). If these points don’t scare you away, perhaps his conspiracy theories regarding politics, corporations, or the calculated destruction of humanity will. Despite these bad traits, Malik is someone who does not discriminate when it comes to providing justice, even if you are not a default. He’s very loyal to what little friends he have and will never break a promise that he made to anyone, regardless of what it is. Malik also holds grudges for a very long time and have a hard time letting things goes. If you cross him, he may forgive you in time, but he will never forget it either. His trust isn’t something he gives away freely so those who neglects it will never receive it again. Malik also have a tendency of wearing his heart on his sleeve. He can’t just hold in his emotions when he believes something is wrong, he has to let it out, a trait that has been a double-edge sword for him. Finally, Malik seems to sabotage relationship he has with people as soon as they get too close (though usually he does not realize he’s doing this). He has a lot of issue with companionship and intimacy that has been building up for years (probably needs to see a shrink or something) so he tries to keep those he really care about away from him at a certain distance. Physical appearance: A brown-skin man with attractive qualities. Doesn’t shave as often as he needs to and tends to keep something of a morning shadow around his jawline, chin, and the area under his lips. His black hair is always trimmed neatly though, short and very wavy. He’s a little on the Husky side, but it seems more like his body type rather than fat. Though don’t let that fool you; he could still lose a few pounds or so. His face, though attractive, also seems a bit rough, as if he has seen his few shares of fights in the past. His posture is actually quite good, almost regal-like and he seems to demands everyone’s attention when he enters the room. Notes: Working outfit: His working outfit usually consist of suits (usually navy blue, black, or charcoal) and a maroon tie, always a maroon tie. He also wears smoky-black trench coat and black, fingerless gloves on occasion. Both of these serve more of a purpose than keeping him the elements off of him, they are also important aspect of his limited arsenal when paired with his gift powers. Lastly, Malik carries a sidearm strap the side of his waist. He calls the gun Silvia, a custom-made 9 mm handgun. Casual clothes: Not too different from his work clothes actually. Still wears suits and a maroon tie (always maroon), though usually the tie is loose around his neck. Place of birth/ conception: Pseudo City, Michigan Character history: Son of a famous inventor and one of the founders of Pseudo City, Dr. Joseph Lauandelle, Malik grew up to love the city that his father helped build and vowed to always serve and protect it. Ever since he was a young man, Malik dreamed of serving the PCPD, getting the blessings of Dr. Lauandelle who always encouraged Malik to be his own man and never felt that he had to follow his father’s footstep. Malik knew that he needed to be tougher than he was, so decided to take up boxing in his teen years in order to do so, something he continues to practices to this day. After finishing up high school, Malik went to PCU (Pseudo City University) and graduated top of his class as the Valedictorian with a master degree in Criminal Investigation along with a minor in Crime Scene Investigation. Soon after finishing up college, Malik joined the PCPD police academy in hopes of one day become a Detective on the force. Not soon after graduating the academy, Malik became a beat cop, avoiding other offices and offers because of who he was and wanting to prove that he had what it took to be a real cop. After spending only a few months with the force however, Malik noticed that the PCPD had much corruption, and after a certain incident involving his partner, Malik soon quit the force and decided to become a private investigator. Now Malik serves Pseudo City in his own way, away from the corruption of the PCPD, helping those who need justice, regardless if he likes them or not. Major skill. Investigating Gift: Buffing and De-buffing- Malik has the ability to strengthen and weaken biological beings and inanimate objects that he touches. This is an ability that relies a lot on how long he touches the object and, in cases of gifted, knowing what power(s) they have. For inanimate objects, depending on the object’s purpose, he can either augment or diminish that item’s purpose. For example, a floor’s main purpose is to be walked upon. If Malik happens upon a weak structured floor, he can simply lay his hands on the floor and temporarily strengthen it. The longer he touches the floor with his hands or any other bare body part of his, the longer the augmentation (buffing) will last the maximum time being five minutes). On the other hand, Malik could also choose to make a strong floor weaker (de-buffing) using the same rules for the touching. When it comes to other lifeforms, if a lifeform is non-gifted, or if he does not know the abilities of a gifted lifeform, Malik can only temporarily buff or de-buff certain things, such as: Speed, strength, stamina, senses, agility, and durability. He can only enhance ONE of these traits though at any given time, and the time of enhancement ranges from a few seconds to a maximum of 5 minutes (again, depending on how long of a physical contact he has with biological objects). When it comes to gifted, Malik can enhance or weaken their gifted abilities even more if he knows what they are, if not, then he can only enhance the traits that were mentioned previously for average biological lifeforms. It should also be noted that Malik cannot Buff or De-buff himself, he can however buff and debuff objects on him, which includes his clothes. After using his power, it takes Malik approximately the same amount of time to recharge his gift as it takes for the duration of the gift to wear off. For example, if Malik buffs a person's stamina and that buff lasted for 3 minutes, Malik will not be able to make use of his ability both during the time of the duration of the stamina buff and three minutes AFTER the buff wears off. Though the ability to buff and de-buff is quite a useful one, it is an ability that must be timed perfectly and one that requires a lot of out of box thinking and planning. Luckily Malik is skilled with this kind of thinking. It should also be noted that he tries NOT to use his gift whenever it is necessary, being that he hates being gifted and all. Notable abilities or skills: Photographic Memory, knows the ins and outs of Pseudo City. And can handle a firearm rather well. Major weaknesses- Malik does not trust many people. Because of his lack of trust, Malik has a hard time working with others or keeping many friends/associates. Not that he doesn’t work with others… it’s just difficult for all involve when he does. 3-4 additional strong points. -Strong sense of justice -Patient. Never gives up on a case or any problem he may need to solve -Can always trust that he will speak honestly with you -Very loyal to what little friends and allies he has 4-5 additional weak points. -He is prejudice against everyone instead of humans -Is not really happy with himself -Very pessimistic - Has a very short temper and is known to act without thinking things through when get angry STATS: (Scale: 1-5/ 1-7.) Don’t expect him to run a marathon though anytime soon… Weapon Proficiency: 3 (Malik is both proficient in boxing and using firearms.) Athletic Grace: 3 (Boxing background gives him some grace). Wit: 4 (Years of mastering his gift have made him very wise in activating his abilities at the right time) Luck & Preparation: 5 (Malik’s powers relies a lot on thinking ahead and being prepared for anything.) Inherited a lot of wealth and owns an estate) Political ability: 1 Influence: 3 (Being a son of a famous inventor have a few perks) Diplomacy: 3 (Knows law enforcement procedures and has a good handle on court procedures as well. Have a few associates in the police department that can provide information when he needs it, though usually not for free) Intelligence: 4 (Specialize in investigation skills, also have a photographic memory, both of these abilities allow him to figure out things faster than most).
