IBW: Downfall

A First Glance at The Card
A Scrum-deal

  • Brian Carter vs. Pandora- Opening match, of opening match material. Would rather this be more of a Pre-Show match, truthfully. But IBW doesn't have one.

  • Dallas Endo vs. Hamish- Second match... Of opening match material. Two in a row is a bit iffy, especially since it's going to be a similar-vibe of a match. Stacking an opening with undercards doesn't make for the best of showings.

  • Danny Hall vs. Zhoom- If I was upset about anything, it's that this match is going to go unnoticed. It's another undercard match in a BAD spot (not even the show opener!). If the fans fall asleep in first two matches (which will most likely happen at some point, just because of booking two not-so-important matches) then this match (which has PROMISING talent from arguably biggest undercard names in recently signed rookies Danny Hall and Zhoom) is going to look bad, despite how great it is.

  • Sebastian Sawyer vs. Kevin Hawks- Why this is an ultraviolent match.... Nobody really knows. Should be of good quality I guess, but you're giving two under-to-mid-card guys a run at something which nobody else on the card has. Ultraviolent is more of a big hatred-filled match, not a thing that occurs because it's just a thing.

  • Darnell Jackson vs. Ayden Starr- This is where the card starts to redeem itself. Wish they'd switch the match order around. But as long as this is the first of two or three Pay-Per-View matches (possibly ending at Season's Beatings?) and Darnell learns how to be a face, this could be good. Talented competitors who are in a bit of a rough patch because they both are trying to be the bad guy.

  • Sinclair Brothers vs. Task Force- Probably the most important match of the night, guaranteed. When you're reading prep-stuff, they always hype up the Main Event as the most important match of the night, and while that is true to a certain extent, I have to point out that here? It's all about the middle of the card match. You have what could be a very poor night from a card that's basically all undercard guys and one semi-big match. If this match goes great, it'll go unnoticed, but will keep viewers watching. If this match goes poorly, lots of people are going to lose interest in the Pay Per View. These four boys need to have $$$ on their minds.

  • White Championship Triple Threat- I'm liking the looks of this one, though it might be a bit odd having Rattik in contention for the White Championship. LOL @ That funny three-way handshake at beginning of match as per White Title rules. I think that the White Title was never meant to be in triple-threats, so a lot of rulings are going to be odd. What happens if Rattik gets DQ'd? Who wins? Maybe we'll see. Good match on paper, but I feel poor execution. If it was for any other belt, or not for a belt at all, show-stealer. But not tonight.

  • International Championship Triple Threat- Poor booking choice in terms of match order this show. Either way, money match. Odyssey is still finding his stride as a wrestler, but Snickers and Super Krmi are going to carry this match hardcore. Expect cheap heat from Odyssey to be what he's bringing to the table, but mainly look for Snickers and Super Krmi match. That's why this match is a big deal. Forget about the plot twist that's probably going to happen here, I'd much rather see Snickers and Krmi go back and forth.

  • Main Event: Parker v Preacher- Well hyped up match. Bit rushed last second, but I mean, who cares? Another big match, but not for the reason a lot of people are thinking. At Wheel of Torture, IBW Booking staff made a RISKY choice in putting a random guy from Task Force up against TGB, then letting him win the belt. Is Preacher a good wrestler? Yeah, sure. Is he Main Event material? We'll have to see. Of course, Parker can put on 4 star matches with a paper bag, so expect this to be good no matter what. But smarks should be looking at how well Preacher wrestles in this match. It'll determine if IBW thinks he's ready to be the guy or not.

Looking At Possibilities

  • Snickers return is hype. If she wins belt, a Snickers return means IBW will be making $$$ from one of the best heels in IBW history. Even if she doesn't take home the belt, but makes a return, IBW will prosper from using her in big spots. The only issue is she's known to have an ego behind the scenes (which she shares with her kayfabe and real life boyfriend John Morris), which reminds me of a funny story when they actually asked for their locker room to have two bottles each of four different very expensive wines for post-show, AND a free $300 tab at a local sports bar.

  • A Parker world title reign is normally tainted by a million and one backstage politics, but now it seems like James is actually getting to the top in a fair, respectable way. Good to see he's finally getting a TRUE face run, maybe with the big belt. I think he deserves it, now.

  • IBW is still being super risky with Task Force, so we'll see what they do with that. If Task Force walks away with all the gold (bar White Title), then IBW is feeling REEAALLLY lucky. I don't think any wrestling company has enough balls to do something like that (which is saying something), so don't expect IBW to give them all the gold.

  • Going along with the last point, OBW booked Prophecy to win the majority (maybe it was all?) of the gold, and then not even a month later everyone hated it and bashed OBW creative for it. So, doubt IBW is going to make the same booking mistakes as OBW.

  • Will IBW acknowledge iPPV events? Most likely not (as there's a lot of creative differences between IBW Main HQ and both iPPV branches). If somehow they do, they're also saying that John Morris is officially signed to IBW (on TV for the first time) AND they're bringing up that other wrestling companies exist for... the third time in history? The first two being a funny look at how Ice is a ripped off Stone Cold and a Mike Solomon shoot promo referring to a Batista return at Royal Rumble relating to a Supremacy battle royal.

  • The Ultraviolent match could mean very bad things for IBW. If this spawns a whole new branch of "hardcore", IBW may be reverted to some of the many ways OBW failed. Hardcore championships are fun, deathmatches at every show aren't. IBW has a nice thing going with the White Championship, so they don't need another tertiary title. Especially not the Hardcore belt back. So yes, part of me really wants that match to be bad.

  • Six undercard names in the first three matches. Somehow, three different matches are going to have to keep the energy going and hype up the crowd for the rest of the night. This is going to be an hour of a show opener (well, more like 45 minutes). IBW is going to lose the audience in the first hour.

  • IBW had last week's Collision in PA, and is having huge numbers of local promotion occur. If you're in PA, expect to hear radio shows, local TV performances, and even IBW stars going to malls/events around Hershey and Central PA in general. If you're outside of PA, don't expect toooo much promotional hype, as a lot of big stars are going to be occupied doing a literal week of meet and greets with fans. Those who are trying to win over audiences last minute may still try posting promotional videos.

  • The next PPV is one of the "Big IBW PPVs". Last Man Standing! What does this mean? The next month is going to be hype as all hell. Guessing Co-Main Events next month are going to feature an Intercontinental Bout with Super Krmi and a TF member, and a Global Bout with Parker and either a TF member or a money name.

  • Expect just about all loose ends to be finished in about two or three months, as typically IBW is "season based" with their long-term stories. So, if LMS isn't the end of Task Force vs. Parker and Krmi, I think it'll go no longer than Season's Beatings. If they wanted to do a trio, I GUESS a big finisher at Supremacy is always an option, but after that it's onto different things for everyone's characters.

  • Sure, it's just fanboys hyping it up, but there's a LOT of talk of Parker not winning the world belt until LMS, then holding the belt all the way into H.O.W. to fight a Supremacy winning Krmi. You know, for that H.O.W. Match we ALWAYS wanted.
