Battleground GM
PHILADELPHIA - Holy Shit! The huge announcement teased by Marshall Johnson is a doozy. The Battleground General Manager announced the card for the shows second episode (VIEW IT HERE). It was very interesting to see that no Main Event was announced on the card. IBW Insider Renee Wintz was able to sit down with the GM, and get the answer to everyone's questions?

Mintz: Hello, Mr. Johnson. I hope you are doing well. After the airing of the first episode, the IBW Galaxy was shocked with the level of the matches. Some even deemed them Pay-Per-View quality matches. Is this something we can expect on a weekly basis?

Johnson: When I came to the IBW Board of Directors with this idea they wanted it to be a show for the undercard. Mainly to give them more ring time and exposure. So I challenged everyone that was their for our very first episode. Telling them that Battleground isn’t just another brand to make our company more many. Battleground is the proving ground, a place where superstars are born. And they took that to heart, putting together some of the best matches we’ve seen in awhile and proving that this company is not going anywhere!

Mintz:I have to agree, I was there in Philly when the first episode was being filmed, and that place was electric. But one thing was noticeable, the low budget of the show. There wasn’t nearly the technical brilliance we see on Collision. Is there a reason or does Battleground just not have that big of a budget.

Johnson: Well, to be honest, Battlegrounds production budget is ridiculous. For a show half the length of Collision the budget the board gave me was nearly 3/4th of that of Collisions. Thats a shit ton. At first I sat down, and was thinking of where we could base our show, to truly get us the best exposure. But then it hit me. Fans don’t come to see big fancy stages they come to see our wrestlers compete, and go to war. And that's what I did. And what place represents wars than the 2300 Arena, the former home of ECW. So the budget we actually ended up spending was probably a tenth of that of Collisions. And that's all we needed. The best part is we sold out the first episode! And have gotten some great feedback on the show.

Mintz: Okay so how about we talk about what people truly want to know...this HUGE announcement that you teased on the Second Episode's Card!

Marshall: Hahahaha! Yes, that! My phone has been going crazy after that one. I may or may not have left that away from the Board. Haha. But yeah, the superstars that are on Battleground deserve to be in the same conversation as those that perform on the top of the Collision card. So I brainstormed ways to make the Battleground show that much better and I came up with this idea.

He stops talking, a smirk on his face as he can see me lean in closer. He chuckles once more before continuing.

Johnson: So we have three matches announced on the card; Hamish vs Daisy Rain, William Wereld vs Hades Negro, and Lonewolf vs Boby Shames vs Nika Kosov. These aren’t just any matches though they are qualifying matches. The winners will go on to our Main Event where they will face off in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the new IBW Jr. Heavyweight Championship!

He leans over and pulls out a red fleece bag, opens it, and pulls out a beautiful championship belt.

Jr Heavyweight Championship Belt

He slings it over his shoulder as he smiles.

Mintz: Oh my god! This is his news! I can speak for the entire IBW Galaxy when I say, I cannot WAIT for Battleground this Sunday 8e/7c!
