It's easy to be skilled, but it's impossible to be GIFTED
And finally, I have done everything I wanted to do for the day…

God, I love this feeling, this sense of achievement when you do everything on your to-do list for the day, and now I can do whatever I want. I can watch a movie, I can go for a walk, I can meet my friends. I’m free! Well, maybe I’m exaggerating, but yeah, it’s the best feeling in the world. I trained harder than usual today and I kinda feel sore, but nothing is easy after all, if I want to win that number one contender’s match, I have to train as hard as I can.

Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep!

The sound of the microwave interrupts my thoughts. I take the popcorn bag out of the microwave and I pour its contents in a large bowl. What better way to spend your free time than to prepare some popcorn and watch a good movie. I jump on the couch and turn on the T.V. I hope there are movies worth watching.

Wait a minute, is that Titanic?

Yeah, it is. And I believe that’s the part when things begin to get emotional. She’s lying on a wooden plank…or whatever that is, and he’s frozen.

“I’ll never let go, Jack.”

Bitch, you’ll eventually let him go, stop lying. Damn, this movie is way overrated. I wonder if I do a movie about my life, is it going to be more successful than Titanic? Of course, it’s about Mizo Nitro after all. I’m already picturing it in my mind, they should call the movie “The story of a legend.” It’ll probably sell more tickets than Heart of Wrestling. I change the channel.

“ESPN News: IBW Superstar and Global champion, James Parker, has made a large donation to a local hospital in Florida.”

I watch as they show James Parker saying something ‘inspirational’ to some dumb kid who doesn’t know how to choose his role models, the crowd claps in unison for whatever he said. Anyone with a brain can see that this is just a publicity stunt, he’s just trying to gain popularity, he wants people to view him as a hero. I’ll enjoy watching the look of disappointment in their eyes when I destroy their so-called hero at Destiny. Those people are really greedy, do I have to give them money for them to show me some damn respect? I’ll be damned if I donate my hard-earned money to any one of those idiots. If they want money, they can train hard and risk their bodies every single week like I do.

I’m about to change the channel…

“Señor…”

HOLY SHIT! I almost jump off my seat, I didn’t know the maid was still here. What was her name again? Ninety percent of all Mexican women are called Juana, so there is a ninety percent chance that her name is Juana…

“You freaked me out, Juana!”

“Señor, my name is Maria…”

“Sorry, I forgot.”

“You’ve known me for over three months now, señor, it’s really obvious that it was intended.”

She got that right.

“Do I look like a fucking liar, Juana? When I say that I forgot, I mean it. I pay you to clean the house, arguing with me is way above your paygrade.”

She looks at the ground. “I’m sorry, señor.”

“Yeah, you better be. And please stop calling me ‘señor.’ Call me Nitro.”

“But, señor, Nitro is not a real name…”

“Well, neither is Maria.”

“Maria is a real name, señor.”

“Shush! How much do I owe you?”

“Like always, fifty American dollars, señor.”

I reach in my pocket and take out twenty-five dollars.

“Here’s half of the money, I’ll pay you the other half later.”

I give her the money, she looks at me with a frown. I think she’s not happy with me giving her only half of the money. She should be grateful! The nerve of some people…

“Now get out!”

She turns and walks away, she’s furious, I guess. But I don’t really care, she’ll come back tomorrow to clean the mansion anyways, that’s the only way she can pay her bills. I wait until I hear the door opened and then slammed again. I turn off the T.V. No good movies, Parker is in the news, it can’t get any worse. Anyone can see that I’m better than Parker, why do they all cheer for him and view him as some kind of a hero? Those people don’t know what a real talent is, anymore, but they will know how talented I am soon, when I defeat Nika this Friday.

My phone is ringing, I look to see who it is. It’s my brother, Dave, calling for the tenth time today. I never contacted him ever since I moved to Florida, which was like…six months ago, so I’m sure he’s calling me because he needs something, and I’m not really in the mood to talk to him. I came to Florida seeking a new life. Family doesn’t mean anything to me anymore, they only hold me down.

The phone stops ringing, finally! Wait a minute, he sent me a voice message.

“Hey, Jason, how are you man? I hope you’re fine. I watch you every week on Collision and you’re doing great. I need something from you, so please, call me whenever you listen to this voice message.”

As I expected, he needs something from me. But as long as I ignore his phone calls, I should be good.

Ding…Dong…

That’s the doorbell, I wonder who came to visit me.

“Who is it?” I yell out as I approach the door. Nobody answers.

I open the door and…What the hell?!

"Jason, my brother, it’s nice to see you again!” He goes in and hugs me. Wasn’t he in Chicago, what brought him all the way here?

“Why did you come here, Dave? Why didn’t you even tell me?”

“I wanted to see the surprised look on your face when you see me. I also tried to call you, but you didn’t answer any of my calls. I have called you about five, maybe six times already.”

“I was…busy. Training sessions and stuff, ya know.”

He called me TEN times, Ten fucking times. But he really changed, he gained some weight. And I don’t know…but something about his face changed, he got older. He’s wearing an orange Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans and he is holding a blueprint chart in his hand. He walks in and I close the door.

“Wow, this is a huge mansion!” He looks around, amazed.

“What’s that chart in your hand?”

He looks at it and then turns to me, “That’s what I came here for. Come, take a look.” He places it on a table and unfolds it. It’s a poorly drawn design of some kind of a building or something, I’m not really an expert in these things, but from the looks of it, you can tell that he drew it himself. “This is a project that I am planning to implement.”

He begins explaining, but the fact is, I’m not even interested. After about ten minutes of explaining, he turns to me. “You see? That’s why it’s going to be a total success!”

“So, what do you want me to do?” I ask him.

“I already planned this whole thing out as you can see, all I need is…”

Please don’t say it. Please don’t say it. Please don’t say it.

“….money!”

Goddammit!

“Well, Dave, I like your enthusiasm, I really do. But I’m not ready to invest my money in something that will probably fail…”

“Believe me, it won’t…”

“Shush.” I interrupt him, “Why do you want to implement this anyways?”

“Well…” He answers, “I lost my job, and I have some bills to pay so…”

“So you need a new job, right?” I ask him

Dave nods.

“Well, here’s the thing...I need a manager, and you need a job. So, how about you become my manager? I’ll pay you a monthly salary. Plus, you’ll get to live with me here.” James has Glenn, Nika has Roxy, so I need a manager too.

“That’s an awesome idea, brother, I gladly accept your offer.”

Well, you don’t have a job, so you’re forced to accept it anyways.

“Great.”

“So when do we start? I’ve been watching Collision for a while now, so I know how this all works.” He begins throwing some punches and kicks in the air, and while doing so, he slips and falls on his back. I facepalm.

This is gonna be a long week…

I must say I am not surprised. The bond between brothers are stronger than the bond to money, just be careful. Will be a shame if a unskilled brother ruin your career

Hey, Mizo. I see you have taken up on my advice to train as hard as you can for our fight. Despite our displeasure for each other it's nice to know that you took my words as inspiration.

Your brother seems like a nice man, you can definitely tell you are brothers, you are so alike. It's also nice to see you looking out for him, giving him a job when he is down and out, it's nice of you to do that. Maybe you're not as bad of a guy as you think.

Having him as a manager too is a good move, nobody has your back quite like family. I've never seen a reason for a manager, I mean I have Roxy but she only takes care of the house and well, obviously she's my girlfriend.

I do wish you luck in the future after Friday, Mizo. I hope you can get back on that ladder.

Trust me, being the people's hero is overrated! Just make sure you defeat Nika and then go on to face James Parker for that Global Championship! My husband brought you back into this company because he believes you are capable of bringing about the results he wants. Michael is an intelligent man so please don't make him regret his decision, okay Fella?

Your advice? I've been training hard ever since I returned, I don't need any useless advice. As for my brother, I didn't give him the job because he needed it, I gave it to him because I could use a manager by my side. Last but not least, I think you're the one who should start planning out a way to get back up the ladder after your defeat this Friday and as for me, I'm going to turn my attention to Parker and that title he's holding and I'm gonna take it back to where it truly belongs.

That's what I'm saying, donating to hospitals and acting like a 'hero' isn't gonna get Parker anywhere. Stark made the right decision when he chose me to be the face of this company and I'm gonna prove to him when I win the Global Championship at Destiny, but first, I gotta move that tiny speed bump out of the way.

Gosh, it's like talkin to a child. You told me you didn't need to train and implied you were not going to, I said to you that you must because I want to beat you at your best. I literally just said the exact thing you said to me about climbing back up the ladder, your wit and comebacks are about as good as 'I know you are but what am I'

I don't know if you know this, but having good comebacks isn't gonna win you championships, so yeah ,sure, you can keep working on your little 'comebacks' while I'm gonna train as hard as I can to get to the top.
