The morning rolls in again and that means it's another day closer to one of the most important days of her life. Friday she will see if she can achieve the 'unachievable, Friday she will see if the training has paid off if her visions and plans have any actual substance behind them. Mizo Nitro is the one who stands in her way, he has plans of his own, dreams of his own. Only one of them can win though and go on to face James Parker for the most sought after prize in all of sports entertainment. You have Mizo, a past champion of a time before IBW, he is now looking to claim the top spot in another timeline. A win a Destiny will surely shoot him into the hall of fame and immortalise him in history forever. A win for Nika though would set her off down a path that only legends take, she will be stepping into a class that many fail. Both superstars have a lot riding on a victory at Collision, they have their future riding on a victory.

Nika is already awake, she's already finished her workout, showered and got dressed for the day. She finds herself in a rare situation, no obligations for the day. She also finds herself alone, a family emergency has taken Roxy to the other side of the country. Nika wonders around her house looking for things to do, she checks the library, she knows she's not really in the mood to read a book but she goes in with the hopes to find something to kill her boredom. As she walks into the room she can't help but be drawn to her wall of achievements, the trophies shine in the sunlight and the glare forces Nika to close her eyes. She quickly turns on the light and then draws the curtains blocking the sun's rays from entering the room. She then walks over the wall and picks a trophy up off the bottom shelf, '2nd place'. The trophy is a miniature statue of a man in a karate Gi, his leg is lifted in the air and his hands are fixed to his face. A thin layer of dust has made its self at home across the top of the figure and Nika gently rubs it with her thumb, she then places it back on the shelf.

“I remember getting that like it happened yesterday. I was so pleased with myself, I think I even slept with it in my bed. I took it to school the very next day to show my friends and teachers, I was so proud that I was able to get as far as I did. I think I was about 8 when I won it, I had been training for a year and my parents didn't think I was ready for competition but coach believed in me. He always pushed me to be better, he said he saw something inside me, a desire that can't be taught, a will that cannot be broken and a stubbornness that will make me a champion. He was right, after that second place I never lost again.”

Looking up she spots another second place trophy, he quizzical eyes study the swirls which make her name. Reaching up she grabs it then blows the dust off, her eyes examine the writing and then she sighs.

“Second place again, but this time it was in a boxing competition. I remember taking it to school the next day, I was older then, around 15 and image means a lot to a 15-year-old. I wanted to show my friends what I had accomplished, I was so proud. I remember there was a boy in my class, he was a typical bully, big and ugly with a low IQ. He saw me take out the trophy and before I could react he snatched it from my hands. He was a lot bigger than me so I grab it back, he then pushed me to the floor and started making fun of the fact I didn't come first. He made the class laugh at me because I didn't come first, I wanted to hit him so bad but I knew I'd get kicked out of school. I was shy in school too so I couldn't speak I just lay there listening to him make fun of something I was so proud of. He made me doubt myself, he made me feel like not trying ever again.”

Nika places the trophy back on the shelf then leaves the room...

Two days have passed since Nika went into the trophy room, Roxy is now home and the two of them are preparing for the day ahead. Roxy reminds Nika that today she has the fan meet and greet at 2 pm. They make their lunch for the day ahead and make their way to the car, today is the driver's day off so they take Nika's car instead. Roxy jumps into the driver's seat with a huge smile on her face, “Can I drive this car, pleassssse?”

Nika smiles then rolls her eyes, “Hmmm, I'm not sure you could handle it. Maybe we should take the Tesla, I think that'll suit you.”

Scoffing, “No, I can handle this perfectly fine. I promise we won't crash. Please, Nika.”

“Fine....As long as you promise not to go fast, okay...”

Roxy hurries Nika up to get into the car and then starts the engine, it roars to life and off they go. The journey is about an hour away so there is plenty of time for conversation, but for some reason, Nika is a little off. Roxy tries to keep the conversation but Nika doesn't seem to want to engage, She just sits in her seat staring out the window.

“C'mon now Nika, what's wrong! You've been sitting there for 40 minutes barely making a noise. It's totally not like you.” Roxy tries to make a joke at the end but it doesn't go over. “Please, Nika.”

Finally breaking she turn towards Roxy. “I was in the library the other day when you had to see your family and I came across one of my old trophies and it brought back old memories, not very nice memories and I... I just lost...erm.”

“C'mon, Nika, if you tell me maybe we can work through it.” urges Roxy.

Closing her eyes, “It was a time in my life where I got my confidence shattered and I have sort of returned there. I feel those same emotions, Mizo reminds me so much of that bad memory and it has made me feel...Different.”

Roxy pulls up to the kerb and turns off the car. “Different, how? What happened.”

“Just different.” Nika spots that Roxy isn't going to drop the subject and looking at the time she decides that she may as well give in, “Well, when I was in school I took a trophy in to show my friends, then the local bully stole it from me and made fun of the fact I didn't come first. He made the whole class laugh at me, not my friends, but everyone else and Mizo reminds me of him. And I guess I just don't feel as confident.”

“Serious? Wow, I've never would have thought you would be anything less than confident. You just beat James Parker, though, doesn't that count for anything?”

“It does, but Mizo is bringing back things from my past and I don't like it.” Nika looks at the time again and lets Roxy know they must be heading off.

They get to the venue and are shocked at how small it is, the queue isn't that big either but Nika is relieved for that. She enters the room and the chair is at the far end and there are barricades that form a line to the table. She sits there signing autographs and discussing the next Collision show, fans wish her their best against Mizo and then exit through the back. No one is left in the queue and Nika starts to pack up when she suddenly hears a small voice in the back of the room.

“Please, can't I just see her really quick?” the small voice asks.

“Sorry kid, Nika has gone home.”

“Aww man, I really wanted to talk to her.”

Nika walks over to the voice and spots a small girl holding onto a small trophy and a poster of Nika.

“Hey, I just come back and I heard that someone wanted to see me?” Said Nika.

“Wow, it's really you. Could you sign this poster please?” The girl asks.

“Sure I can sweetie. What's your name, and what's that fabulous trophy?”

“My name is Masie and I came third in a BJJ tournament last weekend and I wanted to show you.”

Smiling, “Wow that's great, third place is very good. Bet you trained really hard to get there didn't you.”

Masie goes from smiling to sad, “Yeah it's okay I guess, I didn't come first though even though I did train hard. I also had a boy at school make fun of me because I didn't come first.”

Nika's smile disappears and she kneels down so she is eye level with Masie, she places her hands on her shoulders. “Now I want you to listen to me Masie, never let anyone tell you that your accomplishments don't mean anything. Never. I have a whole bunch of third place trophies but the years after that I have the first place ones. Do you know why that is? ( Masie shakes her head) Because I never gave up, I never let negative words get into my head, I kept pushing and I managed to get what I wanted. So Masie, promise me something, never give up and never let silly little boys tell you you're not good enough. You are!”

Masie wraps her arms around Nika, “Thank you, Nika. You're going to be the best Global Champion. Mizo doesn't stand a chance this Friday.”

Nika finishes the hug and pulls away, “You know what Masie. I think you are right and I want to thank you. You have just reminded me of something important, thank you. In fact, for helping me I'll make sure you have tickets waiting for you at Collison for you and your family.”

Masie jumps up and hugs Nika again, “Thank you, Nika. Thank you....

Blog Post. Thursday 19th January:

I guess you can say I've had an up and down sort of week, my emotions have been all over the place but a chance visit managed to pull me back. I met a little girl who inspired me and reminded me of what is important. She was the cutest girl and a very brave, strong girl. She had gotten to the third place in a BJJ competition and if you know anything about that art, you know it is tough and third place is a huge achievement. She had a boy at school try and belittle her and she was brave enough to tell me about it, she really was a special little girl.

When talking to her I realised I was experiencing some of what she was and when comforting her I realised that I was worrying about nothing. I realised that the problems I thought I had were nothing I hadn't overcome before. I've overcome obstacles, I've overcome bullies and naysayers. That little girl has given me the confidence I need to overcome Mizo at Collision. That little girl has given me the boost I needed to become Global Champion.

Mizo Nitro is the typical bully type, he tries to shove his way into places, he puts people down and he only wants people if they are worth something to him. I don't think there is a genuine bone in his body and I'm having a hard time believing he will play fair come Collision. I feel he will have a trick or some underhand tactic he is going to try and pull out of the bag, but I'll be ready. I have learnt from my mistakes against Trent Johnson and I will be damned if I let it happen again. I've lost one title already and I'm not about to lose an opportunity to gain the 'BIG' one.

I've put all my training in, I have a lifetime of experience of battle and I'm going to use every bit of experience against Mizo. I am not going to lose, I can't. People like Masie need me to win, if I lose then it'll show them that dedicating your life to perfection isn't worth it, it will show them that good guys truly finish last and I cannot allow that message to get out there. Mizo I hope you're ready for the fight of your life because I just watched OBW Survival 2012 and I feel 100% confident now.

See you Friday.
