I think the best thing for all of us to do is actually call up and see if we are covered and why are we paying it if we are not |

Hi Subbie 1236 thank you for that information and I understand there has been others. Can you tell us a bit more about how you went about getting your refund? |

Sure I contacted my worksafe agent "xchanging" and questioned if my policy was a valid policy considering I working for ISGM on a full time basis. More than 80%. If I was to make a claim it would be under ISGM policy not my own company's policy. It's means there was double dipping of premiums and that entitled me to a full refund. Worksafe said I could only go back 4 years but there were 3 of us working under the one company the refund was quite a lot. I suggest everyone email their worksafe agents who you pay your premiums too, and state these points and say u want to request a full refund of premiums paid. It took about 2 weeks to receive a cheque in the mail from worksafe. I hope this helps but worth spending the 30 mins of time I spent getting it

Thanks Subbie 1236. The whole issue of Workers Comp and this model of 'contracting' is very controversial. It is a matter of public interest that workers can be put in this position. The same goes for Superannuation, that is the next battleground. We have been pursuing this issue for a couple of years via the ATO. |

Yes, most subbies insurance is with private companies. You should be writing or calling your insurer as described by other subbies here and claiming a refund. |
