![]() Play By: James Marsden ![]() Full Name: Scott Summers Codename: Cyclops Nicknames/Aliases: Scotty, One-Eye Age: 25 Birthday: October 18th Ethnicity/Race: Caucasian Height: 6'0" Weight: 184 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Features: ![]() Personality: Scott is the epitome of leadership. He places all things to do with the X-Men and the school before even his own life. He can be seen as a wet blanket, and perpetually serious in most cases. He does know how to have a good time and it's evident to those that know him better, but a business like demeanor tends to rule out most times. Several experiences with women in his life have led to a shyness of sorts around the opposite sex. The man is a master tactician but can't form the words to ask a woman out if he was paid to. Control. Scott's lack of control in life is a major weakness. He has found some in his leadership position, but if the control is taken he is lost. Almost without purpose. ![]() Power Name: Optic Blast Power Type: Physical Power Description: Cyclops is able to absorb ambient energy from his environment (such as sunlight and electricity) and store it within his body's cells, metabolizing the energy in order to open a dimensional aperture through his eyes and unleash an exotic form of energy as heatless blasts of concussive force. The force is not derived by heat, but rather, generates pressure which can pummel and subsequently, if desired, destroy objects. These beams are able to reflect or bounce off certain surfaces, such as highly reflective metal. As of now, Cyclops is able to completely level a five story building without much difficulty. He is able to control the magnitude of his blast by switching the various apertures in his visors physically. However, without the visor, he is unable to control his powers with his eyes opened. This has caused several disastrous damage in the past, and Cyclops has since developed a phobia and instinct of closing his eyes when his glasses or visor is not worn. Scott's psionic field is also in tune with the energy of his optic beams, and as this field envelops his body, he is immune to the harmful effects of his own powers, causing the beams to be absorbed or dissipate harmlessly if they should come into contact with his body. Hence, he is able to block the beams simply by closing his eyes, with even the thin material of his eyelids being able to block his beams. Power weaknesses:Without his special ruby quartz glasses or visor Scott was unable to control the optic blasts or open his eyes. Without the ruby visor though they are hard to control in their width and target. ![]() Hometown/Birthplace:Anchorage, Alaska Skills and Talents:Strategic planning, leadership, mechanics, piloting. Scott is proficient in both Judo and Aikido, and they are currently at blue belt. He practices both art with his eyes closed, relying on his ears, smell and other senses to locate his targets. Scott is a licensed pilot, as well as a highly skilled mechanic. Occupation: Mechanic Education: College Bachelor Degree in American History Affiliation: X-Men Family: Phillip Summers (Grandfather); Deborah Summers (Grandmother); Christopher Summers (Father, Deceased); Katherine Anne Summers (Mother, Deceased); Alex Summers (Brother) Friends: Warren Worthington III, Ororo Munroe, Jean Gray, Hank McCoy, Forge Enemies: History: Born to Christopher and Katherine Anne, Scott Summers is the older brother of Alexander. During a flight back from Anchorage after a family vacation, the family's jet experienced engine trouble. With only one parachute left, Kate Summers strapped Scott into it and tied Alex to him. She and Chris said their final goodbyes to their children and pushed them out the plane door. As Scott and Alex drifted away their parent's plane exploded taking what was left of their family with it. The explosion of the plane however set the Summers brothers' parachute on fire. During the fall, Scott used his optic blasts for the first time to slow their descent and shielded Alex from their landing with his body. Though surviving, Scott hit his head in the crash. This injury caused a slight amount of brain damage, affecting the portion of his brain that controlled his latent optic blasts. Alex and Scott were brought to an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska, secretly run by Mr. Sinister, who had registered Scott manifesting his mutant power. Sinister believed that Scott was the Summers brother with the most potential, so he had Alex adopted away from the orphanage to both separate them and render Scott emotionally vulnerable so he can draw close to him and manipulate him. Mr. Sinister failed in breaking Scott, however, because Scott eventually ran away from the orphanage. A stray blast of his power accidentally blasted a steel girder off a construction site, causing it to plummet towards a crowd below. However, with a second blast, Scott shattered the girder before anybody was hurt. Unfortunately, the incident was filmed and the crowd perceived Scott as a menace, so he ran away, with the crowd jeering behind him. Fearful of the damage and havoc he may cause, Scott refused to open his eyes as he vanished deeper into the city to hide. By this time, Charles Xavier was only beginning to anchor the blueprints for the beginning of the Institute, and the news headline portrayed a boy with seemingly alien powers. The Professor spent many hours using Cerebro trying to locate the boy, finally tracking him to an abandoned house in lower Manhattan. Xavier took in the boy and explained to him his dream of building a team of mutant operatives, fighting for peaceful coexistence. Scott agreed to join and became the one of Xavier's first students under the codename Cyclops. Xavier also provided his costume with a visor made of ruby quartz that could keep his dangerous power under control by adjustable dials, which control the apertures. Over time, Xavier became the father figure Scott had been missing for most of his life. Dedicating himself to the man’s dream, Scott vowed to spend his life making sure that mutants were one day equal to humans in every way. Scott was formally adopted by Xavier years ago. Five years ago Xavier at last put the final pieces together to form the group of young mutants he always dreamed of. The X-Men. Scott was chosen as the team leader. Along with Scott was Jean Gray one of Xavier's former pupils, Warren Worthington III, Ororo Munroe, and Hank McCoy an old comrade of the Professor's. Together they formed the team. For years they trained and went on mission in secret. Now that the school is opening to young mutants for training, while maintaing the illusion of a boarding school, Scott is ready to take on more responsibility and help guide the dream into the future. ![]() Player Name (Or Net Handle if preferred): Scotti Age: 25 Contact Information: (Email, IM, etc) How you found the site: Created it |
