![]() ![]() Play By: Taye Diggs ![]() Full Name: Lucas Bishop Codename: Bishop Nicknames/Aliases: Luc, Bish, formerly, Detective Bishop Age: 33 Birthday: Sept. 25, 1976 Ethnicity/Race: African American/ American Height: 6' 6" Weight: around 275 lbs Eyes: Brown, glow red when using powers Hair: Black, shaved bald Features: "M" Scar over Right eye ![]() Personality: Lucas Bishop, as a Homicide detective, has see the worst of people in this world and because of that is a bit more cynical than most. He's got the sterotypical cop persona, cynical/tough/cold/etc, but said persona has been known to slip away when it is required. As a homicide detective Lucas did, at times, have to deal with grieving and orphaned children. When that happened another side of the man, one he prefered to keep tucked away for those he only truely cares about, comes out. Lucas is a big teddy bear under that gruff exterior. But he prefers being known as a 'hard ass', especially around youths. ![]() Power Name: Energy Absorption/ Rechanneling Power Type: Physical with slight mental aspects. Description: Bishop is a mutant who can absorb most types of energy directed toward him. He can then rechannel it through his body for concussive blasts or in the same form that was absorbed, including Storm's weather effects. This rechanneled energy is apparently able to damage beings normally immune to their own powers. The nature of his powers makes it difficult to damage him with energy-based attacks, while also enabling him to work well with any energy-using teammates. Bishop can also store absorbed energy within his personal reserves, whereupon the energy increases his strength and recuperative abilities, as well as affording him a measure of invulnerability. The upper limits of his ability to enhance his own physical abilities with absorbed energy is not exactly known but is well into the level of being super human. Power weaknesses: Bishop is unable to absorb energy from inertial impacts such as hitting walls, and Although he can absorb psionic energy from blasts or telekinetic attacks, Bishop is not immune to telepathic attacks. Some energy types, also, are more difficult to absorb than others. Bishop can be overloaded by trying to absorb too much energy. ![]() Hometown/Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York, New York Skills and Talents: Good Cook, Can Sing but refuses to prove it, Occupation: Formerly, NYPD Detective Education: BA in Criminal Justice Affiliation: X-Men; NPC Family: Gerald Bishop (Grandfather, deceased), Tonia Bishop (Nana Toni, deceased), Burnam Bishop (Father, deceased), Kadee Bishop (Mother, deceased) Shar'dea "Shard" Bishop (younger sister, deceased) Friends: Detective Malcolm Brown (friend, Homicide, deceased), Detective Randall Ellison (friend, Homicide, deceased), Detective Trevor Fritzory (ex-best friend, former Homicide detective), Detective Malikai Rossivich, Erik Fowler, Lacy Brown ("Sister"), Mary Ellison ("Sister"), Sandra Ellison ("Neice") Enemies: Trevor Fitzory History: Born to Burnam and Kadee Bishop, Lucas Bishop is the eldest of two. Born and raised in Brookyln, New York, Lucas had a wonderful childhood, up until the age of seven. When Bishop was seven and his little sister, Sar'dea (nicknamed "Shard"), six, their parents died under mysterious circumstances. Both children were sent to live with their paternal grandparents, Gerald and Tonia Bishop. The two children, though grieving for their parents, still grew up in a well-loved home. When Bishop was entering middle school his grandfather's store was robbed, and Gerald killed. This, coupled with his parents' death several years earlier, started young Bishop's interest in Cops. He saw how sloppily the homicide Detectives were handeling this case, and it outraged him. He vowed then and there to do all he could to be come a homicide detective, and never, ever let any family see how little some officers of the law really cared about them. Now with their main source of income gone, Bishop started doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, trying to help his formerly retired Nurse grandmother, Toni, out. He'd drop Shard off and pick her up from school, and made sure that the odd jobs around the house were done, so Nana Toni wouldn't have to worry so much. He also started a little mini-detecive PI service for the local kids. The missing things were usually taken by siblings, and for that he wouldn't charge, but on occasion he would find that other kids had taken the object in question and would retrieve it. There were occasions where he refused to be paid for doing it, but after the parents found out, some of them started to hire him as well. Lucas soon grew into a strong young man, prefering his PE, math and science classes to History and Literature. During his Sophomore year of Highschool, his history class went to the Metropolotian for an exhibit on medivial art, and it was there that his powers first emerged in a very explosive way. It had been a very sunny March, and Bishop had been getting constant headaches and hand cramps. He just figured he was working out too much, he was too stressed and he needed to relax a bit. The day of the trip, he had a headache that was closing in on a migraine and his hands, while not cramped, where very painful. But he ignored this, despite the fact that he knew he should tell his grandmother. As his class moved from one exhibit room to another, there was a loud explosion and the alarms went off. The force of the blast hit the back of the group hard, Bishop in particular, being at the very back. As they all went down, the rest due to the robbers' yells and shots, his migraine reached it's peak and his hands throbbed horribly. When one of the men came into view, he spotted Bishop and figured he'd have some fun with the kid. He hit him with the butt of his assult rifle and reached down to grab him, letting Bish know that they were going to go play. In self defense he raised his hands and they glowed red along with his eyes, and his attacker was blasted straight up into the ceiling. Wide eyed, everyone was shocked, but none more so that Bishop. The other men rushed him and again in self defense, he blasted them all, one right out the far wall and onto the street. While the students and teachers hailed him a hero, some of the other patrons of the museum called him a freak and a monster. Bishop's world blacked out when his teacher, a cop and two paramedics reached him, his headache gone, his hands no longer acheing. When he awoke, he was in the hopsital with Nana Toni and Shard none too far away, and two MCU detectives standing towards the door, waiting to ask him some questions. As they spoke to him, everything grew fuzzier and fuzzier and soon he went back into the land of darkness. The next time he awoke Bishop found himself chained to the floor in what seemed like a basement or a small storage closet. Disoriented and worried about his remaining family, Bish tried to remain calm and assess the situation. The door opened, and the bright light flooded the dark room, temporarily blinding the youth. when he could see again there was a large group of men, all hooded and he sneered at them. Two of them rushed him, holding him down, and a third came at him with a white-hot brand.A fourth held his head still with the third man pushed the brand over his right eye. Screaming in pain, he was throughly sickened when he heard the other three men in the room who were not on or near him, chanting what sounded like Latin prayers. The brand was removed and Bishop couldn't open his eye, he didn't even know if he'd be able to see out of that eye again. The men soon left him, after telling him that they had saved him from the devil that possessed him. He didn't know how long he was in that room, but he did know that his burn was left untreated and it was infected, badly. He could feel it and he prayed to all the dieties he knew of to send someone to save him. Bishop's wish was granted, when two men with great powers came and resuced him, taking him back to the mansion for treatment. Tonia and Shard were contacted, as well as the Mutant friendly police officers and the search for young Lucas Bishop was called off, with the knowledge he was safe and getting medical treatment in a private clinic. Tonia was worried about paying, but Xavier assured her that it was not necissary. When Bish was well again, though still some what weak, he was offered a place at the mansion, to learn about his gift and to learn to control and use it properly. At first the young mutant refused, saying he had to help his Nana Toni out, that she was working too hard, and still didn't have enough. Tonia all but ordered the teen to stay at there and to not worry about them. Arrangements were made for Tonia and Shard to get half of his allowance for the month and while a bit more willing to agree, Bishop was still far from completely willing. All in all, Bishop stayed just long enough to gain almost full control over his gifts, and then went back to high school with a fool-proof story about where he had been, and why he hadn't come back right away. While the entire school knew about his supposed bravery, prejudice was still very strong in the school. He lost his position of JV football Captain, and nearly lost that same spot on the Basketball team. It was only his, and Xavier's, reassurances that his powers had nothing to do with the game, and his skill, that allowed him to remain on Captain of the team. The group that held him and branded him was never caught, and to this day Bishop still searches for them. He wants his justice, but knows better than to do it himself. His junior and senior years passed quickly, and he got a Basketball scholarship to a small private college near Boston where he gained his BA in Criminal justice. After those four years he headed back to New York and enrolled in the Police Academy, his little sister Shard not that far behind him. By some odd fluke of the admistration they were both placed in Vice, and partnered with another sibling pair. After four years of that, Bishop was offered a transfer to Missing Persons and while he didn't want to leave Shard behind, he really wanted to get out of Vice. Shard and the now really elderly Tonia (finally retired and living comfortably with two incomes), encouraged him to take the transfer. There he was paired with an odd man, who had at once time been a police observer, but that partnership didn't last very long. The 'M' brand made it difficult for Bishop to gain the respect of some people, mutants common knowledge now, but filled with misconcepts and hatred. After a year and one particularly nasty case, Bishop put infor a transfer and ended up in Homicide where he'd stay for eight and a half years. Conicindentally Shard was also in homicide, now his Captain. There he was partnered with a man named Trevor Fritzory, and soon made friends with another partnering that he worked with closely on several cases, Detectives Malcom Brown and Randall Ellison. These men became the closest friends he ever had, Trevor his best friend and confidant. During his seventh year in homicide, Bishop started noticing Trevor acting irratically, calling in sick, skipping out on scences and other such odd behavior. He told Shard about this and Malcom and Randall also put in their two cents. But none of their worries seem grounded when just two days later Trevor returned to what seemed like normal, apologising for the craziness. He claimed that his fromerly estranged sister had called him and told him that her husband had died and that she was pregnant and alone. They believed him, having no reason not to. During one case that involved a murdered informer and the local Mafia, Trevor once again acted strangely, and his excuse was after his sister had her child, she skipped town taking his niece with her. He was worried, and that he was sorry, but he had a bad feeling. He requested a few weeks leave and Shard willingly gave them to him, after only a slight urging from her three other best detectives. Then the unthinkable happened. During a basic warrent granted search on a mysterious, but seemingly famous hitman for the Mob, Bishop, partnered with Randall and Malcom, discovered that their friend was dirty. Trevor was the hitman, and a dirty cop. He shot at them, and Randall went down. Malcom called for back up and a bus, while getting one of the uniforms to stay with him, as he chased after the two. Bishop had cornered Trevor and as he went to take his shot to disarm, but not kill, his former partner, Fritzory shot at him, and as Bish ducked, hit the unsuspecting Malcom in the neck. He bled out in seconds, and Fritzory managed to over take Bishop. Back up arrived, Shard along with them, and they found the large detective on his knees with a gun to the back of his head. His demands for them to drop their weapons or the mutant would get it, were not obeyed by all. Bishop had managed to silently communicate with his sister, and she kept her weapon trained on Fritzory. The dirty cop snapped when Shard broke his little power trip. He raised his gun and shot her, a fatal wound, and Bishop sprung into action. He removed his secondary weapon and as Trevor made to shoot him, he squeezed his trigger first. Dashing over to his sister, Bishop was there, just in time to hear her say that right before they called in, the hospital called. Tonia had died of a heart attack just half an hour earlier. On that day Bishop had lost his family, both blood kin and choice, his best friends and his partner. He took the mandated counciling, and no one was surprised when he asked his new captain for a few more weeks leave, to properly mourn his grandmother and sister. It was granted, and everyone in Homicide, no matter weather or not they truely liked him, came over bearing food, or a comforting ear, or just companionship. When Bishop finally returned to the PD and homicide, he refused to take a partner. He'd work with other pairings, but he wouldn't take another patner. He said he didn't want to go through what he did again, and while is arrest rate did drop, he was still the best in the department. He spent about another year and a half with the the NYPD, when he was approached once again by Xavier, this time to work at another school of his. This time, Bishop agreed willingly, handing his two weeks into his boss and saying good bye to everyone in the department and the PD. No one could believe that the great Detective Lucas Bishop, would leave his job for a cushy position at some private school in Westchester. It was simply something Bishop felt he had to do, the compacted loss of his Sister and friends were too closely knit in with the PD. Retiring as a detective, but remaining on retainer as a consultant Bishop is currently finishing up paper work and packing to move to the mansion and god only knows what with the X-Men. ![]() Player Name (Or Net Handle if preferred): Mo Age: 19 Contact Information: Chat- Mo; PM- Momo How you found the site: ...uhm.....*blinks and points to scotti* Application secret word: Writing Sample: (Only write sample for your first character on the board)(Write Sample below with character you have applied for, in style of how you will play them) |
