February 28th 10:00 PM Common room Tag: New Mutants Structured Free Form Adam sat on the couch in the common room alongside several of his fellow students watching The Wizard of Oz. They were about 30 minutes in and he had to admit he was finding himself bored. He, like most of them, had seen the movie so many times it's novelty was practically lost on him. Looking around he realized he knew the other teens in the room by name and face, a few by codename even but he didn't really know any of them. Each was more like an acquaintance than a friend. They each had things in common of course. Puberty, being a mutant, living at Xavier's obviously and general things like that but each was practically a mystery to the others. They were also all a little on edge because they had seen most of the school's staff, the X-Men, rushing about earlier, donning tight uniform looking clothes with serious or worried looks on their faces a bit ago but hadn't seen any of them since. It was like something was up and they were all out of the loop but knew better than to pry into the matter. All the excitement and nervousness was keeping him awake even though it was a school night. "Alright. I'm getting bored, can we do something else. Like talk or play a game or something. Anything. Our youth is wasting here and I'm not even tired yet. Any suggestions?" he asked stretching his arms up pulling his shirt higher up on his torso as he brought his hands down on his head and flattened his tousled hair in mild exasperation. THe Mature tag can be applied later to the thread if necessary it's on us where this one goes so don't be afraid to go above the PG 13 and the like. no double posting please and remember to add substance to your posts. NOTE: Alright folks, this is going to be a structured free form. You're allowed to post intermittently between dares and truths speaking to other people to comment or ask further questions for clarification ICly if you so wish. just make sure that you keep up with the thread because it can and will move on without you if you choose not to post. |

Kat was zoning out while the movie was playing, from boredom rather than fatigue. It wasn't very far along, and already she was getting tired of Dorothy's whining and griping. The girl was in a fantasy world, for crying out loud...couldn't she enjoy it while she was there instead of constantly crying about how she wanted to go home? This had never been one of Kat's favorite movies anyway, but she was there more for the semi socialization than anything else. She looked over at the boy who'd spoken, glad she wasn't the only one getting bored this fast. "There are some board games in the cabinet over there, I think. Maybe some cards too" she replied with a gesture to the cabinet. They didn't really appeal to her at the moment, though it was still better than zoning out mindlessly. "There's always 'truth or dare' too" she added with a shrug...the ages-old fallback game of bored teens, though that required more than two people to be worth playing at all. "What are you up for?" Kat looked around the room at the others, including anyone else paying attention in her comments and question. She sat up a little more in her seat from the semi slouched position she'd been in. If nothing else, she and the boy could play cards or something else they pulled from the cabinet. She rather hoped the others would decide to join in too, though. Games were always more fun with more people involved. |

Trent was sitting in the large crevice of one of the windows watching the movie. Mostly texting Rachel even though she was just in another part of the mansion. He was just as bored as the others who started voicing themselves. It wasn't too hard to figure out that was the general consensus anyway, the friggan movie they had on was older then everyone in the room. He used his telekinesis to lift himself up and float over to the others as he laid completely supine, on his back as if laying in bed, over to the others. "Truth or dare actually sounds pretty fun, plus all the staff are out doing who knows what so we could really have some fun with this." he said as he did a roll over so he was now laying prone and facing everyone below him as he lifted a little higher into the air. The fact that the staff did leave in such a hurry and dressed in similar uniforms made him deduce on his own that something bad was going on that required them of all people to go intervene or help. So that meant while the adults were away that the kids could play. "So Kat you can be in charge of any rules that need to be set in place since the game was your idea. You guys think we should gather more students to come play?" |

Petra had been standing outside the room for some time. She was watching the movie, at least as well as she could from the hallway. Well, at least she had been watching the movie, until one of the boys announced his boredom and one of the girls suggested truth or dare. She was about to leave to avoid the game, but paused when a different boy floated into the air and asked if they should find more players. If she played, she’d finally be able to spend time with some of the students. Even though she’d been at the mansion for almost two weeks, she still hadn’t met many of the students since she tended to keep to herself. She took a deep breath and hoped that this wouldn’t end up being a bad idea. If television she’d watched before her parents died still bore any weight on what teenagers did, truth or dare usually ended up dissolving into something akin to soft core porn. She took a few tentative steps into the room and sat down on the floor near the couch. “I’ll play for a little while,” she said with a forced smile. |

Matro listened to the movie as his eyes quickly traveled over the words on the book that he held in his hands. Hanging from a portable bar a yawn escaped him as thought back on the countless times he had watched it with his sister. His eyes scrolled across the floor leading to the other teens. Well there's a good idea. Smiling as he dropped off the bar cart wheeling onto his feet. Folding his wings over his shoulders, Matro had given a fangish smile. Looking as one student floated above the others and then as another one walk into the room. "Sounds like a good idea, can't be any worse then watching the Wizard of Oz for the god only knows time." |

He was more than happy to hear that his thoughts were shared by the others in the room. It wasn't like him to just blurt out things like that but he wasn't really himself a lot lately. He chalked it up to hormones and decided to go with it when everyone else started to show interest as well. "Ok. I'm in too," he said turning so his back was on the arm of the couch and his legs were crossed on the cushion he was sitting on. Leaning back he looked to the new blonde girl he didn't really recognize. he assumed she was a new addition to the mansion and gave her a warm smile and short wave in the hopes it would make her feel more welcome. "So ,Trent. Do you float in the shower too or is this just for our amusement?" he quipped looking back around searching for the remote so he could turn down the TV as the movie came back from a commercial. Spotting it face down on the floor closer to the TV than anyone else where he assumed it had been tossed earlier, hestuck out a finger and drew a circle in the air, leaving a trail of white light until his finger returned to where it started and a pair of portals popped into being. He reached through the one he had drawn and his hand came out the other above the remote and pulled it back out as if he'd just reached into a bag for it. They winked out a second after he had it securely through and intact. From there he clicked mute and the TV went silent. He would've extended the question to the bat winged Matro but he always got the feeling that the other guy was self conscious about his wings and fangs even when he was at the mansion so he decided to leave it alone until he knew him better just like he did with Jono. |

Kat gestured for the new girl and Matro to come closer. "C'mon in. No need to sit so far away from the rest of us" she said with a friendly smile. "I'm Kat, by the way" she added, offering the new girl her hand to shake. She grinned at Trent's comments about the grown-ups. "True, we can...but...there should be at least a couple of rules" she replied. "One...the game stays in this room, and among those of us that want to play. We don't want it to effect those that don't want to be involved. And two...no dares that'd cause harm to another, or destroy property." She couldn't think of anything else to add in. Too many rules and the game wouldn't be any fun, but boundaries did need to be set...to a degree...so that people would be mostly comfortable. "If anyone else has anything they want to add in, now's the time to say so...before we get it started" she continued with another look around the room. It was pretty much a given any time this game was played that any of the players could walk away at any time they chose, so she didn't add that one in. Half the fun of the game was about pushing your comfort level to the limits and a little beyond, though...and a game such as this inevitably encroached on at least one person's personal comfort level. So it was best to set some boundaries at the start, and have the unspoken (or spoken, as preferred) rule that anyone could leave at any time they chose. |

There were three identical girls walking down the hall. Each one taking steps in unison. Their stiletto heels clicking with each step and sending echoes up and down the hall. They each wore a similar outfit's. Their hair in different styles, yet their faces had an identical smirk. Phoebe’s hair was done straight, her hair crisp and clean, Celeste’s hair was done in a pair of pig tails, and finally Esme’s hair was teased gently enough to give her a very teasing and provocative look. Each girls hair style seemed to represent their inner feelings and attitudes. Though no one would ever really realize this unless they talked to the girls and found out about them. Usually there was a group of five, but tonight there were only three. Sophie the groups usual leader wasn’t feeling too well and so had retired early. While Irma, well she was being her usual loner self and had gone off to the music room to practice. She was always practicing on some instrument or another, most of the girls found it annoying. These three had decided to explore their new home. they had only arrived about a week and a half ago, and had yet to really meet anyone. So tonight seemed like a good enough night to explore. When they got near the commons room they could hear voices, and they were quick to decide whether to enter or just keep going. They had decided to enter, after all they were looking to meet new people. When they entered the room a brunette was speaking of rules. Were they going to be playing some sort of game? “Hello…were the Stepford Sisters… Mind if we join your game.” they each gave a dazzling smile as they spoke in unison. They didn’t really care if people thought it was weird, it was just how they acted. Before anyone could object Celeste was quick to walk right in. “ooh what game are you playing. Oh please do tell I love a good game.” she giggled quickly as she sat down near the group. Esme was quick to follow her and phoebe coming in soon after. “Sorry for the intrusion, That’s Celeste by the way, and I’m Esme… I hope you don’t mind us barging in.” when she spoke it was filled with a flirty and sweet tone. She had immediately begun looking over the boys in the room. This was done in the upmost secrecy as she couldn’t give away that she was looking for something to play with. “I’m Phoebe, and again sorry for the trouble, sometimes my sister really doesn’t know her manners. So what did you say this game was again?” it was phoebe now who spoke as she too took her seat near the group. |

Petra gave a small wave and hesitant smile to the blond boy who had acknowledged her. Maybe this wasn't the best idea, but it would definitely give her a chance to learn some new things about the other students in the mansion. "Okay," Petra said as Kat suggested to her and the boy with bat wings. "I'm Petra," she said, introducing herself as she took the other girl's hand for a moment. She stayed quiet as Kat came up with rules, and nodded in agreement. That seemed like enough, at least as long as no one decided to suggest anything outrageous. Petra looked up as three blonde girls came into the room. Even if they were inside, they weren't dressed for the weather. Tank tops and short shorts that covered little more than underwear was hardly appropriate for February. She shrugged it off as all three asked to join the game. A small chill touched the back of Petra's neck; she was creeped out, especially with their name. Maybe they were some kind of android or something like from the movie. She supposed that it didn't matter. Robots or not, they were still her classmates and she'd still make an effort to get to know them. |

The game of truth or dare seemed to be a hit amongst the group, quickly bringing them together in unison for playing and so far no one declining the idea. Porter asked if he floated like that in the shower or if it was a show for them. He shook his head as he looked down at those gathering to play. "Nah, I used to do this out of boredom and for training purposes back when I was new to this. Now it's more instinctive and I just do it without realizing it sometimes when I'm comfortable enough around those who know about it." his way of saying he was comfortable here and around them. Trent listened to Kat mention rules, he shrugged his shoulders but it made sense that there may be some in here that weren't comfortable going all the way. "Yeah I can agree to those rules, I don't think anyone in here wants to hurt anybody." he said and then turned to look in the direction of the growing sound of clicking heels. As the trio of bombshells walked into the room Trent's eyes widened and his focus shattered as he was mesmerized by their triple threat of identical gorgeousness. He let out a short yell as he dropped out of the air onto the floor, landing on his right side. Embarrassment flushed over him so fast that he was sitting up just as quickly as he fell. Avoiding eye contact with everyone as he looked at the floor and then at random items in the room. "Oh we're just about to play truth or dare, still interested?" he asked as he looked at the trio of sisters. |

Matro watched as everyone started to gather around and the movie was quieted. Turning his head as the other introduced each other. "Nice to meet you Petra, I'm Matro." Before he could say anything else, Matro listened as another student answered a question about floating. Matro listened as Kat mentioned the rules of the game, and after taking a few seconds to think, couldn't come up with anything to add. "That about sums it up, I think." Turning his attention as the other three entered the room, a shiver shot down his spine as the three of them talked in unison. He was able to turn away when he heard a thud and watched as the previously floating teen scurried off the floor and into a sitting position. "Is that what they meant about falling head over heels for somebody?" |

"Glad to meet you, Petra" Kat said warmly. She was a bit creeped out by the sisters, but gave them a friendly smile anyway...though it was a little bit forced. It was hard not to be creeped out by them. The way they moved and acted...it was as though they were more of a hive than individuals. The lack of privacy, not having much in the way of individuality...Kat was just glad she wasn't involved in it, but each to their own. "Sure, come on in" she said in response to their question. When Trent fell, Kat looked over and paused long enough to determine he hadn't injured himself before she snickered softly. She contemplated a few teasing remarks, but decided not to embarrass the boy further. "Anyone have any suggestions or preferences on how to determine who starts us off?" That was something that seemed to change every time the game was played. Some people drew numbers, some did straws, some drew cards...it just depended on what was available, and how creative people wanted to be. |

As the girls felt a little more comfortable in the room now that they had been given permission to join the game they seemed to ease on in. they knew many of the people had probably thought they were creepy. They knew the stares when they saw them. After all they had been given those stares for nearly their whole life especially from their mother. But as the Cuckoos sisters they were afraid of nothing, and felt even less caring about these facts. Their minds however were becoming a buzz of thoughts and ideas. With the new information on what the game was they quietly made their way to the circle. Of course with the boy who fell flat on his face they all gave a flirtatious giggle and a wink in unison. Their eyes drifted over him as if trying to size him up. Celeste had liked the boy. He seemed interesting. “Well if that is how you fall head over heels I’m glad I’ve been doing it wrong all these years…. Looks painful.” she quickly giggled then sat back more comfortably and began to twirl and play with her hair. Esme definitely thought he would be fun to play with. Who knew she might even be able to steal him back to her room for a little hide and go seek. She gave a knowing smile to the boy and slowly licked her upper lip as if she was a carnivore ready to devour her next victim. Which in reality she was more of a maneater than anything as she would suck new boys in and devour them within days. Exhausting them to nearly nothing. Phoebe didn’t really care much for the boy. yes he seemed cute, but sadly he seemed highly unskilled with his abilities. She sighed slightly before taking her seat. What kind of an idiot drops themselves with their own powers due to surprise. it was surprises that they were being trained for and if you couldn’t handle that you had no place at this school. Back to the game though. Each girl sat quietly and politely as they listened to the others speak before acting upon it themselves. The others needed a way to choose who would go first and how they would play. The girls had just the idea. Celeste had been drinking a bottle of water and now she knew just what to do with the useless thing. “well maybe we can play it by spinning this bottle. Whoever it lands on has to go first. They choose who they will be asking by also spinning the bottle. What do you think.” |

"Hi,"Petra said to Matro, smiling just a bit. He seemed nice, even with the short interaction. Maybe it was because he seemed a little awkward compared to the floating Trent, and it was something that she could relate to. She smiled again at Kat, and hoped that she would be able to keep the game in check since she seemed to have taken charge of the game at that point. The thump in front of her prompted her to giggle as Trent fell to the floor at the sight of the sisters. Petra still found them to be unbelievably creepy, but that could be the fact that she wasn't particularly attracted to girls. Then again, she had never been particularly attracted to anyone. She squeezed her eyes shut for just a second to clear her thoughts from her head as one of the Stepford sisters, Celeste if Petra remembered correctly, suggested spinning a bottle to determine turns. This was getting to be more and more of a bad teen comedy as time passed, but it wasn't like she had a better idea. She nodded, "That sounds like a good idea to me. Anyone else have an idea?" she asked. She was going to try her hardest to force herself out of her shell tonight, even if it just meant speaking in something above a whisper. |

Trent was embarrassed and inwardly angry with himself for making such a stupid failure. He was blushing from the laughs he did manage to hear in the room and from the fact that the sisters did as well but were also now checking him out. "No this isn't what they meant, I was just, distracted, by the umm, hott girls...." his voice trailing off the longer he talked. He kept quiet and to himself for the moment and let everyone else speak. Some had ideas on how to start the game off, others just simply greeting one another. "The bottle thing sounds like a good idea, Kat since this was your idea why don't you go first?" he asked her with the lack of embarrassment and trailing off. He looked over at the sisters, the one called Esme, just as she licked her lip while looking at him. He tilted his head to the side slightly but smirked a little as he did. His glance then moved to Celeste and she was giving him a smile. Then he looked at Phoebe who didn't seem interested like the other two were. Something about them though made him feel less embarrassed and more like his usual, confidant self. He gave Esme and Celeste a quick wink and then using his powers picked up the bottle and set it back down in front of Kat. He leaned back onto his hands and looked at her, "I'm ready to start whenever your ready Kat." |
