Questions; How do I post IC?

I'm a bit confused. IC stands for "in character", but in this OP you write as a narrator, not in character. So when I post, how should I frame it? These are the three formats I'm most familiar with:

My character does action, and says "Dialogue."

I do action, and say "Dialogue."

*does action* "Dialogue."

Are any of these correct?

Well generally speaking IC means that your post pertains to the world of role play directly. Think of it like a book with a forward. The forward, which is separate from the story itself, is the OC thread. The story, which describes only what happens within it, is the IC thread. Weather you post in first or third person is really up to you. I personally prefer third person because it's easier to post for multiple characters and NPCs.

Here are a couple of RPs I have participated on Nation States for you to look at and get an idea.
