The Eye of Odin system, named after the organ in which the Norse god surrendered for knowledge, is a white dwarf star several billion years into its life cycle. Maintaining mostly asteroid belts or barren planets, it was ignored during the Venkath Onslaught. Residents of the system watched in horror as more and more worlds were occupied and in process of harvesting. After the system's fateful decision to join the Dominion, Eye of Odin stands as testament of the consequences of short-sighted decisions, much like the god it is named after.

Astronomers have long speculated as to how the system's singularly inhabited planet came to orbit a planet so late in it's sequence. Planetary samples taken from Jotunheim have been observed to have different "signatures" than others taken from the same system. While there is no evidence to support this, scientists believe Jotunheim was a rogue planet that was captured in Eye of Odin's orbit after the outer layers of the star turned into the planetary nebula.

Jotunheim

At the end of the Venkath Onslaught, human civilization was catatonic after the explosive events of the First Poenari Congress. As the Dominion and the Thesian Republic drew political borders, many non-aligned worlds were given a choice: pick a side or go it alone. Having been a staunch supporter of Isaac Wolfe and Garudanism, Jotunheim opted to join the Dominion instead of moving forward with the Republic or creating their own state. Yet, as the Dominion Legions moved in and their entire society reformed, it would be a decision that they would regret but would be powerless to reverse.

Jotunheim, named after the old Norse realm of the giants, is an ice world, but not the kind of ice world you would expect. The massive glaciers are frozen carbon dioxide, making Jotunheim nigh inhospitable for humans. Cities are primarily prefabricated shelters or stations constructed to hold larger populations. While the planet itself offers little economically, Jotunheim has prime real estate for scientific facilities to test experiments of all kinds. Buildings can be highly segregated in case of accident, leading to the creation of emergency response teams to quickly put down any 'unruly' experiments. It is believed that Jotunheim is a hub of crown corporations that are conducting research on humans afflicted with Post-Poenari Syndrome, but this is not common knowledge. Due to the expansive landscapes, Jotunheim's wildlife is large in scale and often targets of big game hunters looking for a thrill.

The people of Jotunheim are as icy as the planet's surface.
