An overview of the Adac's Star system showing its nine planets, their satellites, and the asteroid belt.

>> Adac's Star
A far-flung target of earlier human colonization, the inhabitants of Adac's Star inadvertently settled on the edges of thoryxian space, something that was only discovered during the early paranoia of the Venkath Skirmishes- the Khol Zone Authority responded by occupying and incorporating the colony, paving over its human settlements with their own industry.

A look down at a human city built along a riverbank on Torpor, the imposing bulk of a thoryxian factory-complex in its heart.

>> Torpor
Torpor is a warmer world, its single major landmass broken up by dusty, blunted highlands and mesas. There is little tectonic activity, the world's core having cooled more so than Earth's- its mountains have been slowly ground down and eroded, its islands have been washed away. The human colonists that settled it in 6427 HE during the Earth Exodus took note of its relatively simplistic biosphere and more "mature" geology and dubbed it "Torpor", the name implying quiet, peace, slumber.

In 6913 HE, the Khol Zone Authority detected anomalous readings from the Adac's Star system and, believing them to be a potential venkath forwards operating base, dispatched a warfleet. This fleet instead found the impoverished human colony, suffering under the isolation of the Selerium Shortage Crisis. Once communications were open, the Authority quickly forced the negotiation of Torpor's surrender. Luckily for the Torporites, however, the thoryx had no particular vendetta against humanity- seeing no reason to invite armed conflict, the occupation was deeply informed by the hyper-industrialist corporate culture of thoryxian society and could be considered to rely heavily on "social engineering".

After shipping over staff to establish the core of the occupational government, Torpor was largely left to manage its own matters, as was standard operating proceedure for worlds outside the "Red Line" of the Alyium system. At first, the local colonial government simply reported to the thoryx occupiers. Through a series of negotiations, government industrial assets and private companies were "bought out" by the thoryx, their upper management being handed over to thoryx rather than humans- these assets were then used to make Torpor more "thoryx-friendly", adopting traditional thoryxian methods and technologies and beginning projects to make room for a steady trickle of immigrant thoryx workers. Humans were steadily pushed out of administrative, scientific, and technical fields (at least at the higher levels), and new luxury economies were developed to appeal to the thoryx minority first and foremost.

While humans still make up the majority of the population, they are largely considered second-class citizens. Many human settlements have been subsumed into Resource Extraction Zones or Underutilized Eligible Districts, providing workers to the massive industrial complexes and refineries that loom over the skyline. In a few places, the thoryx have constructed arkocities, their alien mega-skyscrapers rising up from the urban sprawl, often "consuming" older areas of human development.

Notably, however, the class divide is not quite clear-cut between humans and thoryx. While Torpor's REZs are often human-majority areas with a small upper-class thoryx population taking administration and enforcer roles, the arkocities are home to much greater numbers of thoryx- many of which live in the same slums and tenements as the human population, victims of the corporate economy and need for unskilled, underpaid service industry workers and low-level technical experts. In the arkocities, humans and thoryx rub shoulder-to-flank, and despite tensions between the two species there is a distinct subculture that embraces their shared circumstances.

After the Thoryxian Uprisings and the Vryxport Settlements, Torpor has been a point of focus for many Redliner interest groups: while most of the colony is still under the control of the occupational government, civil unrest and riots are beginning to become more common; one of the major arkocities lies under the control of a populist uprising of impoverished thoryx and human civilians who are demanding reparations; furthermore, questions of diplomacy with the Human Sphere inevitably come back to the problem of the Occupation.
