Overview
The Genesis Core is a feat of engineering manufactured on the Canaan space station before it's destruction. Put together by some of the top graduating physicists from her own Alma Mater, what was meant to be the flagship of a great new endeavour was the only one of it's kind ever built and the last survivor of the station.

It was made for the purpose of exploration. A very long term habitat for teams of explorers to push beyond the boundaries of known space to find new species and chemical compounds. It is a mobile research and development station that would allow teams of scientists to take full advantage of anything that they could encounter with top of the line technology made at that time, though as the years have passed Zero has had to replace some of the machinery that had been damaged or become obsolete. It is a consistent effort to make sure that every piece of equipment on board is kept up to date.

Though not designed for combat, it is a highly durable vessel capable of surprising speed and can perform several jumps before needing time to recalibrate.

The Genesis Core is an extremely valuable ship worth a fortune in itself. It is worth far more money than Zero has ever made in her lifetime and she guards it jealously.

The Core

The core itself is what the ship is named after, and it was also another flagship project that died with Canaan. The plan was to create several other ships just like the genesis, each with a core of their own that would allow them to achieve bonded feats over great distances. As a result, the core has a myriad of functions that are essentially useless as they require another core to be in network with it and no others were built, the only prototype destroyed during the invasion.

The core holds vast amounts of information, at the time several multitudes ahead of what had been discovered, through technology catches up fast. Regardless, it was the database that was supposed to be a be all and end all point for information, where the collective knowledge of mankind could exist in one place or even in several places when the core's were built. It was designed such as that if any one of the ships was ever alone and away from humanity with little hope of return they would have all mankind had ever known along with them so they would never want for anything.

As Zero's implant cannot store nearly as much she has focused it toward aspects more teneble to her own profession. The actual core on the ship however, has no such limitation. It is the living, beating heart of the ship and is so complex it was able to manufacture Ezra. It is likely there is information within it on how to produce another core like it but it is hidden behind an encryption so complex Zero has never been able to bypass it without risk of losing the entire system to date.

Power Source
The Genesis Core is designed to be self sustaining in the way it works, pulling energy from nearby stars and storing it in the reactors of the Core itself. As such, the Core does not need to refuel since it never uses fuel to function. In order to regain lost power, the ship would need to spend some time close to a star and directly siphon the solar energy from it of which it can subsist on for a good amount of time, specifically a solid year if used at minimal function, and several months if burning at maximum capacity.

Even if the ship were to run out of energy entirely and all functions were shut off including life support, the Core itself could remain active and functional for potentially over a hundred years, assuming it makes no action.
