>> Thoryxian Zoning Designations
>> Overview
The thoryx have developed a highly industrialized civilization, with a heavy emphasis on the maximum use of available resources. To facilitate this, major government and megacorporate institutions established an agreed-upon series of zoning regulations covering the division of residential, industrial, and unused territory.

>> Active Residential Keeping (ARK)
Also known as "arkocities" (a portmanteau of arcology, ark, and city), ARK zones are designated for densely-packed urban environments with a focus on the production of finished products and service economies. Arkocities typically have a core of mega-skyscrapers and extensive slums and tenement districts designed to pack as many thoryx in one place as possible while still facilitating them to contribute economically. ARK zones have very elaborate regulations ensuring that infrastructure can be both provided and maintained for their population.

>> Resource Extraction Zone (REZ)
Designated as major industrial hotspots, REZs are established to facilitate the mass-extraction and/or processing of some local natural resource. Pollution is almost entirely unrestricted, allowing truly titanic operations to be undertaken. REZs are home to sprawling factory complexes, strip mines, fuel depots, transportation corridors, and drone hubs. Settlements may also exist in REZs, but are typically in direct service to an industrial operation.

>> Deprecated Resource Extraction Zone (D-REZ)
A Resource Extraction Zone can become Deprecated (or "D-REZd") when it is no longer an economically notable production site- either due to the complete harvesting of its local resources or because of outside factors, such as the near-complete destruction of its infrastructure. D-REZs are only loosely regulated and receive very little administration- they are often home to scattered criminal organizations, small "off the grid" populations, and independent scavengers seeking out whatever resources of useful equipment remain in the Zone.

>> Underutilized Eligible District (UED)
Territories which have been settled but which have not yet undergone the extensive infrastructure development that facilitate the running of an arkocity or a REZ are categorized as UEDs, with a connotation among the thoryx similar to "rural"- however, this perception is relative; UEDs may be comparable to human 21st century metropolitan areas.

>> Non-Allocated Zone (NAZ)
A simple catch-all for areas that have been surveyed but not given another zoning designation. May be uninhabited or uninhabitable wilderness, extremely low-population fringe regions, or territories that fall within the borders of a foreign polity.
