Gel All Purpose Interstellar Probeship And Civilian Transport The Gel Anarchy has never had to design a ship for a single purpose before... and sees no reason to do so after escaping their home system. For all intents and purposes, the Gel Probeship is a modular box of a somewhat rectangular shaped, with a series of bulbous engine modules grafted onto the exterior at various points. Thousands of kilometers ahead of the ship stretches a colossal net designed to gather interstellar hydrogen to supplement the on-board fuel reserves, while throughout the ship itself small biospheres exist, transporting living creatures and DNA samples to destinations far across the stars. With very efficient fusion technology and a Gel Controller acting as pilot, maintenance and boarding personnel, Gel Probeships have a non-existent failure rate, even major collisions with interstellar and in-system debris simply resulting in the fragmentary remnants of the vessel salvaging as much matter as possible and resetting course for the nearest starsystem. Gel Probeships were initially designed as purely autonomous vessels with a single Controller passenger, launching Von Neumann Probes at various 'candidate' worlds identified by long range astronomic scans as it drifts through interstellar space, generally speeding up to travel long distances before slowing down in the center of star-clusters with numerous worlds. Typically a probeship will grow increasingly efficient with probes as it travels through a starcluster, receiving data from astronomic arrays built by successful probes before it accelerates off to the next star cluster. Carrying many hundreds of probes and equipped with a ramscoop, it can be centuries before a Probeship needs to come in-system to restock. After several hundred years of expansion, the Gel Anarchy was struck with a novel idea presented by the Poets: What if instead of simply making new citizens on every colony world, some of the older citizens traveled along with the spacecraft as well? Such a change required little significant modification thanks to the Gel's innately morphean nature, and thus the 'newer' probes built within the last 200 years exhibit the biodomes and leisure areas enjoyed by the Poets, although these designs require refueling every 140 years lest the life-forms on board go extinct. While theoretically unarmed, Gel Probeships have numerous Controller Probes on board that can be fired at extreme velocity and are equipped with armored shells for planetary re-entry. It would require very little alteration to simply fire a probe directly into a threatening space-craft and consume it, although Controllers are very wary of getting into the habit of using their children as projectile weapons. |

>>COMMON USE Serpens made this, but they made it OPEN USE, so feel free to have probe-ships show up wherever you like. |
