Continuum Space

If the Human Sphere were placed at the origin on a Cartesian plane, Continuum space is the Northwest Quadrant. Much of the space is still largely unexplored and uncharted. Very few human-led expeditions have survived exploration in this sector earning its colloquial name as the "Unknown Regions".

Continuum space is divided into three rings - the Core, the Middle Ring and the Outer Ring. Historically, the high watermark boundaries of the Continuum formed a circle.

Planets of particular interest will be given individual posts.

The Core

The center of Continuum politics, economics and society. All star charts within the Continuum have the star of Perses as its origin. During earlier campaigns before 'the Event', the star of Perses was used to determine location and distance from the Core.

Virtually every single planet in the Core is heavily industrialized, urbanized and militarized. All planets within the Core are designated as 'tier one' planets.

Known planets in the Core are as follows,

  • Palatine (Capital)
  • Ceres

The Middle Ring

If the Core were the "brain" of the Continuum, the Middle Ring is the "heart". Composed of subjugated but assimilated alien races of the Continuum, the Middle Ring provides a crucial service in the maintenance of the Continuum. Much of the agricultural and natural resources needed to sustain the Continuum is found within this region.

Planets vary substantially within the Middle Ring and thus are categorized into a simple structure: agricultural, natural, defensive, tomb, urban and administrative.

Planets are listed as follows,

The Outer Ring

The furthest systems of the Continuum, the Outer Ring was once a heavily populated region on the path to supplant the Middle Ring in terms of economic and political importance. This changed when 'the Event' occurred.

Today, the Outer Ring is sparsely populated and decimated due to centuries of conflict. Many of its worlds are now titled appropriately as "death worlds". While there are some planets still loyal to the Continuum, their support is via coercion not by their own volition. Many have seen what the Continuum is capable of doing and wish conflict no longer.

A significant portion of Continuum resources is expended each year to maintain security forces in the Outer Ring. Insurrection and rebellion is a common facet of life in the Outer Ring.

Human expeditions lately have termed this region as 'the Dead Zone' and continues to attract archaeological and esoteric interests.

Planets are listed as follows,
