Warrior of Wakanda Attire
Passed down through his Wakandan bloodline, this is an outfit that Travis earns the right to wear when he has mastered the art of battle. The same outfit is worn by the other warriors of Wakanda during battle and in times of war. The attire represents mastery, ferocity and honor. Only those who earn it and become a true protector of Wakanda are given the right to don it. Travis earned the right when he was just seventeen.

Information

  • They don't want to see me love you.
    • History
      • Born T'Chaka Kano in Wakanda, Africa to a loving mother and father who were leading members of the Wakandan Grand Council. When the Grand Council suggested that some Wakandan citizens settle in the United States, Travis' family made the move in hopes the Panther God would send his blessings. Upon their move to America, T'Chaka and his family adopted new names and T'Chaka was assigned the name "Travis", his family being assigned the last name "Marshall". Unfortunately, Travis' family was only able to find work and stability in Harlem, New York. The change of scenery was jarring, but he was able to eventually adjust to the harsher climate of the gentrified New York streets and racist America. Travis grew up fighting and struggling, constantly in conflict with New York police. At age twelve, he began selling drugs in NYC to help support his family. He valued his parents and his younger siblings above anything else, vowing to not let the criminal world and his involvement in it affect them. Travis chased his passion for fighting, stepping into the boxing ring and taking part in underground fight clubs when he wasn’t prowling the New York streets. At age fourteen, his younger brother was shot and killed by an enemy Piru gang member. In Travis' mourning, he went after the blood who killed his younger brother. When confrontation came, the blood attempted to assassinate Travis by shooting him in the back of the head with a sub-machine Uzi. The bullets deflected off the back of his head, much to the shock of Travis and the shooter. Upon discovering his mutation, Travis killed for the first time. Following this, he began to recognize his gift of mutation. In an attempt to change his ways, he quit his life of crime and dedicated himself to becoming a better man. Travis visited his country of birth and heritage: Wakanda. The African nation famed for its perseverance, power and infamy. The ideals of the Wakandan people were deeply rooted in him. Travis embraced the belief of the Panther God and the ideals of the Black Panther. The people of Wakanda saw Travis' mutation as a "gift" from the Panther God. When Travis' returned to New York City, word of the "Wakandan Man of Steel from Harlem, New York" reached the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. They located Travis and invited him to enroll. Upon Travis’ leave of New York, he gave any and all money he’d made through crime to his parents.

Relationships

  • Viskat Fletcher:     She's great. Bizarre, sometimes a bit outrageous but she's fun. Has tried to kill me on multiple occasions. My parents would suggest that I wed her.

  • Cedrick Young:     One of the first people I met here. He is trustworthy, I hope.

  • Troy Fletcher:     The less erratic, more focused version of his sister Viskat. He is trustworthy and cares about his family, which is always an admirable trait.

  • War:     A real asshole. Entirely my opposite in terms of personality. One of the few people I connect with on multiple levels at this school.

  • Amara Lopez:     A girl that I was asked to fight in the Danger Room. I refused to because I know my father would beat my ass for it. Also because she was just too physically attractive to hurt.

  • Eichmann Reindhart:     Insane. I think he may be plotting to kill me and everyone else in the school. I'll kill him first.

  • Dean Warner:     One of my oldest friends. A bit socially awkward but we've known each other a long time. The only person I know I can trust wholeheartedly.

  • Joseph Standing Bear:     A solid man. True to his people in a very honorable way. He has pride in his heritage the same way that I have pride in mine. I trust him.

  • Grimar Gormsen:     The only student who has acknowledged my Wakandan blood, in a good way. He is welcome at the Golden City. That unique and gruesome mutation of his caught me off guard. A rare feat.

Documented Journal

  • First of February:     I've arrived. On the train ride here, I listened to N.W.A.'s "Straight Outta Compton" four times and Nas' "Illmatic" five times. Hope to find everything I'm looking for here. The blood of Wakanda courses through my metal veins.

  • Twenty-fifth of February:     I am falling in love. Passionate, stupid love. One day, I hope that I may indulge in this type of stupidity. I want to chase the feeling of gorgeous, light-skinned pointlessness.

  • First of March:     I've grown bored. Thinking of returning to Wakanda. The opportunities at this school are few, the romance is depressing and the scenery has grown dull. May as well be out slanging dope in Harlem. I miss the glory of the Black Panther, the feeling of Wakandan pride in the air. I miss the women, the food and the culture. The same can be said for the women, food and culture of New York City. Most of the mutants I've met are honorable, creative and intelligent... the future of mutantkind. I'm not sure that that description extends to me.

  • Fifth of March:     I am falling out of love. I think the falling out started growing the second that I began falling in. Not that this beautiful girl is not all that I've ever hoped for romantically, physically and superficially... it's just that I find myself uninterested in what romantic love could provide for me. At this point in time, the merit of giving half of myself to another is lost on me. May the Panther God bring me true, unfathomable infatuation.

  • Eleventh of March:     The world is ending soon. The Panther God has shown me the future through his all-knowing vision. Through my dreams, I've seen the end of everything. Hopefully it's just my night terrors acting up again.
