Melinda sat upon the wooden steps that lead up to the deck of her porch. It was late evening when the camera started rolling in that quiet little spot of Sussex, New Jersey. She wore an old and worn Van Halen t-shirt, tight fitting blue jeans, motorcycle boots, a leather strap with a watch on her left wrist, and a silver chain bracelet on her right. In her hand is a brown bottle of IBC root beer, which she took a swig of before she began to talk.

“Once again, opportunity knocks on my door but the odds are stacked pretty high, “ She admitted plainly. Her dark brown eyes look to the ground, a small smile written upon those dark rouge painted lips. “Kijo, Cassidy Lee, Holly Hotbody, and Tora Solgaard,” she sighed softly and shook her head.

“I think this match may have been inspired by our great boss, because I doubt Joe Koss would throw that much at me without thinking it through first. I know how it's going to go down. Every woman will be gunning for the Rebel, especially Kijo and Cassidy Lee. The two of them might even work together to put me over that rope and out on the floor. Tora and Holly most likely will lock up against each other for a time, but eventually one of them will put the other down and come for me.”

Melinda stopped to take another swig from her rootbeer, then continued, “In this match, I am definitely the one who is going to get hunted and I'm ready for it. It'll be a stick and move night, as they say, and while my words seem to lack a bit of confidence, it's because this kind of match is one where anything can happen.”

With a nod of her head, she smirked a bit and took a hit of her soda. She then lifted her head and looked directly at the camera. “You see this is one of those rare matches where it isn't so much skill as it is pure dumb luck in a lot of cases,” the Rebel admitted in rare fashion, then added, “Your skill can influence it, but all it takes is one good swift kick while you're up against the ropes and poof, you're up, over, and out of the ring in a flash. There goes your championship dreams up in smoke!”

She laid back, flat on the steps with a tattooed arm behind her head. The camera moved around to her left side, giving an angled profile view of her. Mel's eyes averted to the clear evening sky above her. She smiled as a thought came to mind and she shared thought in the form of a question, “Remember when we were kids and the possibilities just seemed infinite?”

“We could be anything we wanted to be, whether it was a fireman, cop, astronaut, whatever the fuck you know?,” She said in accompaniment to a wistful sigh. “When I was growing up, I wanted to be a rockstar. I wanted to be the badass bitch, screaming at the top of her lungs to a thousand fans in a packed stadium, blazing away at a guitar. I wanted to be like Lita Ford or what Lzzy Hale is now.”

She finished off the last of her root beer and sat it down on one of the steps beside her. There was a sadness in her eyes as she continued the sharing of her lost dream, “Dad was a lover of music and it was one of the few passions that he and I really came together on. Then one day, my brother steals my Fender Stratocaster that was bought for me on my thirteenth birthday.”

Her face contorted into a soft frown, “It cost my father a pretty penny because it wasn't some cheap knock off, but the real deal. To this day, the memory of that guitar, hanging from a string in a pawn shop window still hurts. I don't know if it's because so much of my family has died or just my mind wandering randomly, that I now think of that miserable piece of shit who did so much wrong to his own blood kin.”

She ran her fingers through her thick, blond streaked, raven black hair. “I don't need my mind on this shit, “ Melinda said, “I need to focus, to be on my game and win this damn thing.” Slowly she sits back up, her head turned to face the camera now to her right.

“Cassidy, I know you're the biggest threat in the ring and you're the one I'll be focused on for more reasons than just personal ones,” she declared and then added, “but don't think for a second that I won't pay attention to you either, Holly Hotbody. I know about your reputation. You're a conniving snake wearing Prada and filled with plastic and pig botulism; aka botox. You may be on my back burner, but you'll always be in my peripheral vision at the very least.”

“Same goes for you, Kijo. You're a nightmare creature who'd love to get at me to hurt Mallory more, but the sad fact of the matter is that you will most likely have your hands full with Tora Solgaard while Ms. Hotbody does her damnedest not to piss off anyone in the ring and bide her time. You'll also be in my peripheral, not forgotten and only a focus when you decide to make yourself a problem,” Mel looked away from the camera with a small smile.

“Then there is Tora Solgaard herself. I don't have much respect for this woman and it has nothing to do with her work ethic or the pride and care she takes in her body. I've talked with her a little on twitter, but nothing she's said really has swayed my opinion of her,” She looked back at the camera now, her eyes seemed a bit sharper than previously. “You see, I share some of old lady Puma's opinions of Tora. I just have more to expand upon it. I'm not a big fan of people who demand respect when it isn't earned.”

The Rebel shifted a bit and leaned her back against the porch railing with three quarters of her shapely rear upon a single step. “Tora,” she started, “I understand your frustration, but let me give you a little piece of advice. Respect is earned and when you walk into someone else's scene and demand instant respect, you don't come off as the good girl you may think you are. You come off as a pretentious bitch. It's ok and even encouraged to have a high self-esteem. Confidence is a good thing to have in wrestling. It's not ok when you come in and belittle the people around you and then expect others to respect your efforts when you've shown none in return.”

Melinda overlapped her hands across her lap as she continued her dressing down of Tora Solgaard, “On twitter, all I ever see is you expressing doubt, insecurity, and bitterness over your situation here in the Pitt,” she said as she looked down, picking at the underside of her fingernails.

“You don't come off as tough or confident, but rather as a passive aggressive little cunt who whines about not getting opportunities,” she lifted her hand up, checking at the nail for a second before those intense brown eyes are brought back to bear upon the camera. “I've seen your type so many times in wrestling and hell, I was you for a short period, but unlike you I actually earned the right to be that way, even if it is a piss poor way to conduct business. Nothing turns a promoter off faster than coming in acting like you deserve to be placed on a pedestal, especially when you have absolutely nothing to show for it.”

She chuckled a bit and shook her head, “Fuck, even as much of a bitch as Holly Hotbody is, I have to give her more respect than you because she earned her props. What the fuck have you done, sweetheart?,” Mel looked up for a moment, tapping her chin, then looked back, “Oh right, complained on twitter and talked shit after nearly getting your ass beaten by a broken down old wrestler. Really big accomplishments honey.”

“You know, the more I think about it, the more I realize that this match may not be so much about me as it is about you, Tora,” she said with a small smirk on her lips. “I actually think the deck is more stacked against you than it is me. I'm just icing on the cake. This is your put up or shut up moment, my dear. You either live up to this self image of yours or you get humbled in the ring by some of the most violent people that The Pitt has to offer.”

The Rebel shrugged her shoulders, “It doesn't matter. Either way, there is an opportunity here that could go for any one of us, but I'm damn sure going to do everything I possibly can to come out of this match alive and, almost as importantly, on top because it's about damn time the Rebel got some championship bling around her waist, dontcha' think?”

“Each one of us needs this victory to cement our standing in The Pitt, so to each of you, Tora, Cassidy, Holly, and Kijo, I say goodluck. You're gonna' need it,” Mel rose to her feet, walked up the steps, opened the door, and went inside her home. The camera cued the transition to black.
