Ranking System

I thought that Junkers wouldn't have a ranking system, they are family, although some kind of hierarchy exists, determined on credits and influence. Anyway, I think that we should have specialties instead of ranks. (idea needs improving) A few of specialties that came to my mind are:

Dealer
Junker
Fixer
Operative
Thief

Also there could be a ladder, which could go like this:

Junker
Known Junker
Well-known Junker
Famous Junker
Legendary (Very famous) Junker

Well, these are suggestions. Post away.

hmm I don't relly like this idea but it improves RP so I think we will need it. I would add smuggler, guard and trader as ranks (specialties).

Ranks among Junkers is a tricky thing, but we would need them. Ranks are a very good thing, makes new guys want to reach something and gain recognition etc.

We could have normal ranks, like any other factions, try adopting those specialties or go with no ranks (only that hierarchy chain of famous, ordinary, known and so on Junkers)

Don't you think that's a tad too many specialties? I mean we can't rely that this group will go extremely big so that we always have a member from one of the specialties online, so I would narrow it down to:

  • Fixer (Junker/Dealer/Smuggler)
  • Escort (Operative/Robber/Guard)
And maybe from there have it branch into ranks and have it so that certain tasks will only be relegated to trusted and known enough Junkers (e.g. those with higher rank), of course that will require us to quickly advance a few people at the start, but it works.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of lower it down to 2 or 3 groups. But I think we need 3 groups.
First the easiest thing 'The Trader': Every Junker starts with trading so he improves his knowledge of Sirius and get to know all the other traders (Junkers) and traderuns out there.
Second 'The Smuggler': This Junker knows what is going on in Sirius and knows how to use JH and has enough influence and money to bribe the police.
Third 'The Pirate': This is the most dangerous activitie and should be done in groups of 3 or two collectors and one Pirate Transport and you need to know every hideout and every JH and every good traderun to attack the trader efficient.

I must say traders and smugglers is the same thing... Also, Junkers are NOT pirates. If we are going to do something like that it will be on weird occasion. Other way we'll turn to an ordinary pirate faction and get shot by lawfuls, bounty hunters etc.

P.S. I dont think they would have such thing as guards. Sure there are Junker Guard, because how else would you give a new name to same faction...

I think we better post this on forum for some smart players feedback. (not saying we arent smart, but the more heads the better)

Oh, I figured :D Marauder sounds good enough for quick hit and run :)

Executive (Fixer?) or simply a Junker? (Dealer/Trader(Smuggler)/Merchant/Salvager)
Marauder (Thief)

Also prefixes...

Fixer (CSV, pre-Junkers)
Junker (CSV)
Recognised Junker (CSV, Collector)
Known Junker (CSV, Collector. Taidan Raider Freighter)
Well-known Junker (CSV, Collector, Taidan Raider Freighter, Pirate Transport)
Famous Junker (CSV, Collector, Taidan Raider Freighter, Pirate Transports, Pirate Train)

Same would go for Marauders

* Have to proceed to Junker rank first

Recognised Marauder (CSV + Collector)
Known Marauder (+ Crow
Well-known Marauder (+ Spatial
Famous Marauder (+ Civilian Bomber)

To me it is a little bit too restrictive, this is not Rheinland Military after all.

Sure, it would support RPing to have some ranks. But not too many and with very few or almost no restrictions (ships, weapons).
Of course I agree, every Junker should fly CVS (later probably Collector) for a while but then when he gets wealthier, more skilled etc I wouldn't bound anybody to 1-2-3 types.
It is enough to say that nobody is allowed to fly caps, and if someone wants something really extraordinary/fancy, the leader might discurage him (ship from a "wrong" faction etc).

We stick together but we are individuals - or?

 We do need somekind of "ranking" not in height but in choice... let's say Kingmax is renown for gundealing, and such should be Kingmax the Gundealer

William Price the Salvager kinda speeks for himself,

these kind of ranks, that would in one or two words explain what is that junker all about...

well we should just choose our names so everybody knows what we are doing. I, for example, will creat a new char for selling/buying weapons under the flag of the Junkers named: Junker-Armory.001.

Hmm. If we've got cooperation, then I see no need for heirarchy. 'Sides, we're talkin' Junkers here, not a military or corporate organization. Leave that mess to the police states and the corps that are their life blood.

My only active character, the only one I have constructed so far, flies a Firefly transport, mines if she can find a stuffed field of high grade, trades between unlawful bases, pirates when it's too tempting to resist, and if it's a house corp aligned ship (by pirate, I mean surrender the freakin' booty! I don't like taxing, tbh.), and engages anyone picking on a Junker, all others be damned. That's my idea of a proper Junker.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Jane here. Dwarf has a good idea.

As for not being able to fly caps, however, that kind of cuts me out of the deal, as I'm setting one character up with a GB to serve as a mobile base of operations for the family. Maybe a corsair GB, as it's got a huge cargo hold if no cap armor is used, and looks like a floating piece of scrap slapped together with chewing gum and strapped to a set of rockets. Rogue GB is also a fine choice. Decisions, decisions.

Thats that police state they call "Liberty" for you. How ironic. Really I was pirating in a Barghest with a Greyhound and a dreadnought showed up and killed us. The LNS IronFist. Again, how ironic. (well ironic isn't the best word)
