I am really pleased that with your help we were able to get nominated for three TBFM Music Industry Awards this year, the first time we have been able to do so in the competition. We are up against some great bands who happen to be very popular so it’s going to take some doing for us to actually win these awards but it’s an honour just to be nominated. As I stated this was done with your help as it was you who nominated Kaine and not ourselves so the credit lies squarely with our friends here! I am extremely thankful. The three awards we are up for are Best British Band, Best Live Performance and myself as best Singer for 2015. I was slightly shocked that I was nominated for the best singer one as I never believed that people held me in that high regard, particularly for my vocal ability! I was never a naturally gifted singer or vocalist and had to work extremely hard to get my voice up to where it is now and I am still practising and improving on my voice. I believe that when people come to see Kaine it’s my duty to give the best performance I can as both a singer and a guitar player and that means putting the time in to be able to deliver what the audiences deserve. I was saddened to see that my band mates Ant, Chris, Saxon and Steve weren’t nominated for anything in their respective fields. They are all extremely talented at what they do, more so than myself and are a great band who I am proud to share a stage with. Although I am the face of the band, the reality is Kaine wouldn’t be anything without them or our past members. They all deserve to be as equally recognised for what Kaine has achieved as I am as they have all put the work in and helped build the band to where it is now. So for me the “best singer” nomination is as much to do with my bandmates as it is me because Kaine really is a team effort and not a one man show. I also felt a disappointment that Justice Injustice didn’t get nominated as the best new song/single for 2015. It’s the best I have sounded vocally on any Kaine recording and the overall sound is the sound I always heard in my head as the Kaine sound. It was written as a hard hitting, in your face, no-nonsense straight up Metal track, with a big sound which was delivered with real passion on the recording. The idea of the track was to be able to show people where we would be taking our sound musically with the next album. So moving on from the disappointments I am honoured we have been nominated for Best British Band. I guess this has been achieved through our near 7 year run of sheer hard work and determination, playing everywhere and anywhere on any night to try and achieve our goal of one day bringing old school Metal back to the forefront of the Metal scene in this country. On top of that to be nominated for best performance for our set at this year’s Wildfire Festival was another huge honour. Given we had no sleep and had more or less literally stepped off the bus after an 8/9 hour journey when we took to the stage and being second on the entire billing to deliver a performance worthy of nomination is a really great thing to achieve. I do believe it’s one of the best shows we have ever played and I enjoyed every minute of it. Wildfire Festival has received a nomination itself for best Independent Festival in its own right. We will be backing them to win this award for many reasons, not only are working to bring some of the best bands past and present to Scotland to help build the scene there they are so far the only medium/independent sized festival to have any faith in us whatsoever. While Kaine is often overlooked by the rest, we were seen live and booked to play Wildfire based on how well we performed in Glasgow the first time back in 2014. There was no scene politics involved, no golden handshakes or anything like that, they put their faith in us to be of the standard to play their festival, a line-up which included some of the best bands of all time and hopefully we delivered just that for them. These are the people who deserve not only the support of the bands but of Metal fans across the country so I hope you give them your vote. Finally the other nomination we ask you vote for is Dean Archer as best independent promoter for his work with the Rock Den in Hatfield. Dean runs regular Metal nights at the Rock Den and books many hard rock and Metal bands (mostly NWOBHM) and is supported by a regular audience who appreciate his work. Like all promoters he’s up against an increasing stay at home culture, particularly from the under 40’s but despite all of this he’s made a real go of it. He and the Rock Den have been extremely good to Kaine over the past two years with us not only being booked often but also by offering us residency at the venue for 2016. Without people like Dean we wouldn't have anywhere to play that's for sure. We are the underdogs going into this vote and without your support we simply will not pick up any of these awards, I hope you take a few seconds of your time to back us and our friends and help us pick up some recognition for the hard work we have put in over the years. I will be asking you to vote personally through social media so I apologise in advance but as we have proven in the past and with these nominations if you support us we can win! Voting starts at 6pm tonight. Rage |
