So, I have been developing some ideas since my appointment as the Minister of Culture. That said, I'm creating this thread because the last thing I want to do is cultivate ideas that I find interesting, but are not actually in the best interests of the people of Kantrias. I, therefore, seek your input. I will be including ideas, but this thread is intended to pull opinions from all people, of all kinds. Nothing is too bizarre, unusual, or specific to be considered. What follows are my own top-three ideas: 1) A University, or more accurately, an Academy or even Agora. This would not be intended to educate members about Kantrias, but rather to serve as a place of intelligent discussion and exchange. I myself would serve as Head-Master/Dean, reserving the right to appoint another to this position if I feel such is necessary. The goal would be to post articles, documents, etc. that are scientific, historical, suppositional, and the like with the purpose of both learning from them as well as debating them. Specific points of debate could be raised, and debate groups or even "teams" be formed for the purpose of mutual scholarly edification. Of great note is that the underlying impetus would be curiosity and interest, not pedantic studies. 2) Organized Roleplay/Roll-play -- this is something that has been attempted repeatedly, but the lack of order and structure has left most of them failing to even get started. I love to organize systems for things, and would be happy to facilitate this, both originally (creating our own roleplays) and otherwise (DnD/Pathfinder, etc.) 3) Competitions -- writing, art, riddles, or something even more creative. Also, Nationstates-oriented things, such as creating puppets all at the same time and "racing" them to high ratings. |

1) I do feel like that is part of the purpose of this forum, the Marigold Salon. What is the advantage of a seperate University forum over this one? 2) More roleplay, and ones that actually get off the ground would be great. I am not sure what you could do to make the system more ordered however? 3) We can also have an art competition to design the badges for those awarded with the orders of honour we have, but have yet to give out. |

Idea 4) Tactical insulting. Such as: Go swallow an echidna, you invertebrate supine jelly. ![]() In answer to Cal: 1) A university encourages focus, and prevents threads from being buried by others. If anything, the university would be a subforum of the Salon. 2) That's still a work in progress :P. More along the lines of making sure people actually do the stuff they sign up for instead of abandoning it after a week. 3) Great idea, actually. |

One solution would make running roleplays part of the job of some Minicult people. |

If we want to actual make this a thing, we did have one in Kantrias past, here's what we used to do: People would do research and prepare lectures on any topic Kantrian, Nation States, to real life history. They would present these lectures to the populace and some would even assign homework, whilst others just put material out there and answered questions regarding that particular topic. The Marigold Salon, from what I've noticed fills more the roll that the old "Public Forum" used to serve for discussing Kantrian law or executive endeavors more or less. Granted there are a few that don't fit in there, though it could be a thing I think. Furthermore, I would recommend refraining from trying to make a position to oversee it, we don't have that many people to spare... The appropriate Cadet House should be able to prod and obligate people to finish what they started enough. |

The Rostra is more the equivalent of the old Public Forum. The Marigold Salon is like the Royal Kantrian Academy of the Arts and Sciences + Bohemian Street. |
