Oddly enough I think Johnny would have fit the current Vic dynamics (even with Ted Reilly) much more than the ones last year, but I can't say he was a huge loss, even if I never really had a problem with him. I mostly just remember his first scenes back when he berated Mick and the two days he had sex with Ben. The rest was such an odd bubble that doesn't even seem to have fit into the show when it actually aired (like the "young gay people are shit" story with Derek). |

Oh I forgot he and Ben briefly got together, and then Ben stole some spoons and forks from his own Mum's cafe to show Johnny how much of a bad boy he was! |

Much deserved bottom two. Goes from the two extremes of so excruciatingly impossible to forget (Aidan) to the excruciatingly impossible to remember (Johnny). |

Finishing in joint 56th place... Our first tie of the rate.... Two very different characters! 56. Phil Mitchell & Joyce Murray ![]() Average: 2.15 Phil Mitchell Highest Score: 5 (x2, Get Outta My Pub, Brooke) Lowest Score: -1 (x1, Jamie Fowler) PurpleRain - Just shit, in every single way. We all know "Who Killed Phil?" would be iconic. Cam - 'Who killed Phil?' needs to happen. See You Slater – Phil’s character development in 2016 was the best thing to happen to his character in a long time. He was finally rejuvenated and being taken into a different, exciting direction as a patriarchal figure rather than as the antagonist. Ever since he returned from his break he’s been worse than ever before with the bullying and King Phil routine, which is embarrassing since he wheezes and gasps for air every third word. Charity Dingle – I am in no way doubting his status as an icon but I fail to see what Phil can bring to the canvas in 2018. One of those characters who has more potential and worth dead than alive. The death of Phil would definitely be a ratings winner! Jamie Fowler - The worst character on the show for me. I’ve scored a lot of characters fairly lowly but I could at least say something positive about them, or at least theorize what I’d do with them to improve them if not. I can’t do that with Phil. He had his big redemption/man looking back on his life with shame arc with the liver chlorosis storyline and they chucked away all that development so Phil could come back as King and chuck Lisa around again. That McFadden demands Phil remain this way means there’s no point in even wanting Phil to improve and become more of a three dimensional character because he never will be. We’re truly stuck with King Phil and I’ve got no desire to see him anymore. Stan - There was loads of potential to build on the character after his break last year, but they completely ruined it by returning to his previously personality. Dennis the Menace – Legend! Joyce Murray Highest Score: 5 (x1 - Get Outta My Pub) Lowest Score: 0 (x2 - Dennis the Menace, Kelly Minige) PurpleRain - Non-entity. I gave her a 1 purely because the aftermath of her death was phenomenal and one of the best in years. Cam – Glad your dead, bitch. See You Slater – Joyce was one of the most terminally dull and boring characters they’d ever introduced. Death was the best thing to happen to her! Charity Dingle – I only learnt her name once she’d died. Mainly remembered for moaning with Joanie in the café and always going to bingo. Jamie Fowler - Iconically boring, not missed. Get Outta My Pub - Always remembered for going down the bingo. Stan - Ted and Joyce would have both received 2s had Joyce not been killed off. Joyce gets bumped up to a 3 because I found myself caring for her because she had left! Regardless, this was a poor character. |

Joyce deserved better than being lumbered with Phil! Even in death she can't do anything on her own. |
