I have to admit I don't really mind Aaron that much these days. He is barely there so there isn't anything to mind. I haven't really minded the Bob/Laurel/Brenda/Doug stuff that much, although as usual with Emmerdale in recent years the buildup and motivations and points of view have not really been there. Overall I think it's all pretty much in character for those involved and has allowed for some good family drama and campy trash that doesn't involve people dangling off cliffs or being shot. The problem with the Molfie relationship for me was that it was just one more step in the decimation of Little Mo's character, on top of the second rape, on top of a needless pregnancy. The character felt well and truly snuffed out. For me none of that is there with this plot. It's the most I've enjoyed Brenda in many years, and it's pretty much Bob being Bob. Laurel is the one who has suffered the most from it, but she's been much worse in the past (like when she wanted people to leave Ashley for dead on the streets and actually got angry when they wouldn't), so I can't treat it as a horror of the ages. Both Emmerdale and Eastenders have a lot of problems, and I imagine they always will. I generally try not to compare them because it just leads to arguments about which is worse. I could name four or five stories on Emmerdale at present I don't bother with and I could name four or five stories on Eastenders I don't bother with (or I could if Eastenders actually had storylines beyond vague outlines stalled out as long as possible...). It's just how soaps now are, sadly. Edited by Sue Osman, Jun 28 2018, 01:44 AM.
