Yes!! now I can pleasantly and peacefully die :)

After 5 years trying to see them playing live my dream came true this last weekend on Mexico City in the Circo Volador, the Flying Circus weird name right? :).

As expected the band gave an excellent show. They opened at 6 pm and played for 1 hour. I guess they could have played 1 or 2 more songs, but people didn't ask for more as I was expecting they did =/ I guess there were too many the agonist and tristania's fans that had no clue who Kalessin were, however people responded very well to the band and I'm sure they got a lot of new fans from the show.

They played almost the whole Reptilian album, only add The Wealth of Darkness, Come Damnation and they closed the show with the Ascendant . A solo drum Vyl was included too in a nice green drums set.

I wasn't close to the stage, but I just sang (scream) every song I could...I enjoyed too much singing Dark as Moonless Night and I almost dance with the Dragontower ha! ;)

I really was expecting they play more songs from Armada, as I do love Winged Watcher, the Crown of the Kings, Armada itself, but I hope they do next time they come as headliners ;)

I didn't expect the guys come out after they played as I must say I have gone to the Circus a few times and the bands don't come out to hang with the fans very often, but when BRT starting to play I saw OC and Thebon going out from the backstage and quitly getting upstairs to go to the merch stand where fans could take a lot of (A LOT!) pictures, signed tickets, booklets, legs, boobs (just joking) luckily I took my own waterproof black marker ;) and got my booklets signed. I also bought my KoK USA tour t-shirt.

In these days I will upload the only video I recorded from the Judgement song. Im kind of disappointed with nowdays metalheads, they almost don't headbang, you can see lots of cameras just taking pics and videos, come on!! leave those cameras alone, do some noise and move that head!! so...Im sure you will find lots of videos from this concert at ytb.

About the guys in a more personal way, well it's difficult and unnapropiate trying to define their personalities 'cause I just talked to them like 2 hours, but I must say they were just the way I imagined they'd be. OC is such a gentleman, very intelligent, he is the brain of the band, modest and funny, and he makes that guitar to cry! Vyl is like a big kid, always making fun about everything, very talented, amazingly fast and precise at drums. Wizziac is the rockstar (in a good way) he has an amazing look, his long and beautiful blond hair, he is cute and he knows it! at stage the way he headspins is fuckin insane! Thebon is the heart of the band, he is such a nice and kind guy, he can really make the connection between people and the band. He just gets transformed at stage with a powerful voice and presence. And yes...I have to say it...he also got a very nice ass that looks amazing into those black leather pants :)

The beer at the show cost $25 each glass. We drank Leon and Corona, Leon is my fave dark mexican beer as I posted here before ;)

I would have loved to be there but sadly I couldn’t. I was hoping they hit Monterrey so I could be there; Mexico is just too far from where I live. Anyway, next time I won’t miss it.

Nice concert review Wicca, I bet you had the time of your life!

If you have some backstage pictures please share them... The only backstage thing I've watched is a video of Vyl Saying: VIVA MEXICO CABRONES!

Nice Review :) And about the metalheads, it also makes me sad they sometimes forget WHAT THEY HAVE THEIR HAIR FOR!!!

The worst are the first two lines that stand there just because they want to be in the front to see the headlining band and they refuse to cooperate with the bands that play as a support. The same witht festivals, they just don't move for 6 hours they're standing there and wait. If only they clapped at least or showed their hands or screamed for the bands that come onto the stage but no, they just stand there like (fill in the rest of the metaphor yourselves) and do NOTHING!

As I said, it makes me sad. I can't tell why they can't appreciate KoK in a way they should be treated onstage. Please, no one take this as an offence but maybe some Americans or Mexicans are just not used to Europian metal music (see http://s15.zetaboards.com/Keep_Of_Kalessin/topic/6880837/1 ).

I can't tell about US metalheads, but Im sure Mexican Old School Metalheads preffer european metal bands. We like the old classic metal bands that sound as Death or Morbid Angel, but I guess mexicans have a different taste for metal than US people. When mexican bands want to go on tour abroad they look forward to go to Europe, not USA (leave aside all bands of those new trendy core stuff).

I know the fav bands of my friends are european, most of them from Norway, Sweden and Finland, also Germany and Holland, Mexicans love to search for the most unknown and underground bands. From America we like Brazilian ones.

In Mexico we have a dreadful educational system , but we have a lot of ancient culture, we are connected to our roots and proud of it ;)
Check bands like Balam Akab on myspace. The genre is called prehispanic mexican death metal :)

The sad part of the history is that the old school in Mexico isnt dying, but is very small, those who can actually have the open mind to understand the evolution of KoK. But one of the things I like so much from this band, is that they renewed my whole sense of music, I can find the old stuff in their sound and lyrics, but there is something they gave us so fresh and new (like feeling young again haha :D) so its a band for all ages, all tastes, we just need to let the people get to know them :)

haha right!! :)

nah! they sing in spanish, but they include some mayan terms...actually I think balam akab means "black jaguar or jaguar from the night" in mayan

there are a lot of bands in Mexico...they are pretty good...with kind of strange cults...

I heard once about some girl that got into the top of the Sun Pyramid in Teotihuacan and she started to worship loudly "Odiiiinnn"!!! xD

I think our mithology is interesting, but I won't even try to explain it...I feel my lack of knowledge about it is shameful

That's fine ;) But I guess your lack of knowledge will never be as striking as the one of the girl shouting to Odin xD xD xD That's what I call barking up the wrong pyramid... :)

They played for 1 hour?! Oh man - you guys were lucky! Next time I plan my vacation in Mexico.

Nice review.
And yes, it sucks when the first row of people at a show doesn't move with the music.
Of course it depends on which band most people came to see.
For example I saw Obscura (their current album "Omnivium" is pure genius, maybe you'd like to check it out at http://www.myspace.com/realmofobscura) last month and it was the total opposite - they were supporting act for Hate Eternal and everyone in front was in action - in this respect it was the best concert I've been to so far. I was a bit sorry for Hate Eternal, because there was hardly anything left for them to do.
