He is the younger brother of webcomic author and artist Thomas Jason Fischbach, known for his webcomic Two Kinds. His father was American and his mother is Korean. Shortly after Mark was born, his father retired from the Army and started working at Cigna, and his parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where his father found a job as an artist for a publishing company. Mark's father introduced him to computers at a young age. Mark was immediately hooked, although he first expressed a serious interest in video gaming after being introduced to a Super Nintendo Entertainment System that his brother received for Christmas. When Mark was fairly young, his parents could no longer get along, and they had to divorce. Mark and Tom then lived with his father in a different house in Cincinnati. Things got very sad for Mark because he didn't like seeing his own father sad, but soon, his father found another woman, and they married. Mark gets along with her well, and considers her close family. Mark's father sat him down during his middle school years, and explained to him that he had cancer, and that it was in very harsh stages, due to it being too late to catch it. A few months later, Mark was awoken by his stepmother screaming, and ran over, to find his father literally dying. Mark held his father's hand as he died, and his father's last words to him were, "I love you, so much." Mark moved in with his mother later on, but still communicates with his stepmother to this day. After Mark graduated high school, he attended University of Cincinnati to explore in Biomedical Engineering. But after he graduated and started working as an engineer, he realized that wasn't something he wanted to do for the rest of his life, but continued doing it anyway, to pay the bills, while he continued to live with his mom. Mark soon found a girlfriend, but his mother didn't approve of her, so she blatantly kicked him out of the house. He moved into an apartment with his girlfriend, but she soon lost her job and refused to find a new one. Bills were piling up, and his girlfriend soon began to physically and verbally abuse him. It took an emotional toll on Mark, but he never hit her back or yelled back at her. He soon realized that this wasn't the relationship for him, and he left her, moving back in with his mother. Using a tax refund he received in the mail, Mark purchased a camera and began to film himself playing videos. It wasn't long until the subscribers came pouring in, and he began to raise money for different charities. He was famous for playing such games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Slender, Vanish, and other indie horror games online. Mark also started acting in small sketch comedies with groups like Polaris, and Cyndago. While doing his constant YouTube work, he works as a General Surgeon in Kennedy Medical Center, where he is very skilled at taking care of gunshot wounds and lacerations. He soon met another worker there, named Mack Wintcuff, and they are now engaged, planning for a wedding in about 4-5 months. They are currently not interested in children. - - - - - - Note: Parts of this were taken from Markiplier's actual biography on Wikipedia, and his Draw My Life video.
