I think it's awesome how you manage to strike middle ground between 'fourth' and 'force' there. Well played.

So I have this crazy idea that involves driving across the country and taking pictures alla way-
and trying to use Kickstarter to partially fund the trip/cost of printing photo books of the result.
Is this slightly insane? Yes. Will it work? No idea <crosses fingers>
Just thought I'd share w/ ever'body.

That sounds like a lot of fun! You'll have to share pictures with us if you go through with it.

Oh, I will I will.

But first, I have to interrupt with a geek-out moment
I have this years old point-n-shoot digital camera right?
We just faked my camera out to achieve pictures of the crescent SUN.
This was some 40 minutes ago and I am STILL GEEKING OUT.
I shall link the pictures of my setup, and the result as soon as I can get them up.

It was really fun. Cuz I tried a couple pictures earlier on 'n it didn't really work - just a big bright spot.
Then there were some clouds, and my brother (pictured) was like 'hey, watch these clouds. If they get thick enough for a second...' So I got my camera back out, just in case. I decided to just take a few pictures of that (some of which looked pretty cool), and my bro' went and grabbed out the stacked sunglasses again. So we tried a couple times, and it didn't really work until-
I was holding up the camera, looking on my display and he moved the glasses into the way and for a split second I could see the eclipse. Before I could fully click the shutter though, the camera would auto adjust for the lowered brightness or whatever and just give me a bright spot again.
But I'd seen that hopeful second. So I fought, left my brother there holding this stack of sunglasses in the air in front of me while I played with settings, tried things - finally, by half-pressing the shutter button without the glasses over it, it would fix whatever adjustment it was making. So then moving the camera, holding the button halfway down, back behind the sunglasses - I got that shot.

Pretty sure if I'd just gotten the picture, it wouldn't be Nearly as cool to me.

o: my camera does that too, it has white balance that can only adjust when you press halfway (like telling the cam you're preparing to take a pic)

i should try that with the moon! i've been thinking of doing something similar, but i keep forgetting my sunglasses...since the camera itself doesn't have a light filter, there's only one way make it work XD

i just wish the camera would capture what you see more often :c all that auto adjust can be frustrating XD

i am sad i couldn't see an eclipse from here :{ we get tons of lunar eclipses, but solar is so space specific XD

A type of camera. SLR stands for "single-lens reflect"
