There's wasn't any intentional subtext. (But I'm open to sparking new and interesting misunderstandings; or simply claim credit if there's a particularly good subtext.)

I think mostly it crossed my mind that you yourself aren't in America, and if I'm remembering correctly not even an English-first-language country (did I really mis-read something way back to get that? I hope not).

And if I am remembering that right, then your one statement became also a subtle comment on the whole conversation by pointing out that you understood while us other "native" English speakers mis-read what Kari had said.

No, no, I clearly misread what Kari said as well. Though I interpreted it more as a technical issue (an age limit). But that was just as much mistaken.

No, you're correct; I'm from the Netherlands. I'm a native speaker of Dutch and Frisian and like to consider myself near-enough native listener of English ;)

Maybe you just tend to sound more competent in general to me, towr.
... So any interpretations tend to be skewed by my perception of your understanding. Maybe it's just cuz you don't undercut yourself as often as some of us here tend to... huh.

Sometimes I think that's my secret superpower, sounding/seeming more competent than I really am.
Or perhaps I really am competent, and therefore am better able to gauge to what extent I'm not, in contrast to people that are incompetent and therefore can't assess their incompetence either. (There are interesting scientific articles on that phenomenon.)
But how would I know?

Hey Elys! It's snowing there too? We already have 2 or 3 inches by now.

I'm frankly amazed at how mild the weather here has been this week.
Spring here seems to Usually consist of 70-80 degree days with rain interspersed with 20-30 degree days and snow, rather than anything between.
