The thermometer out the front door was at 30º when I got up this morning. We are supposed to see 70s again Monday and no precipitation through next week (probably).

been climbing back to 70s and 80s all last week :/ got a break today at high 60s with the rain, but it's climbing again...

the trees seem to think it's autumn, but the weather sure doesn't corroborate that XD

sure does't help to have nights in the 70s either @_@

...and now we're down to the 50s, and windy. >.< I am really tired of the wind.

In other news, Arabic poetry is rather confusing. And Arabic short stories/fairytales (though those at least make for entertaining discussions on their weirdness).

One involves a girl getting her hand chopped off accidentally, because she was dressing up in a goatskin with an iron claw and going out to rob graves and take their burial shrouds, and this guy who was sleeping in the graveyard saw her and thought she was a wolf. And then they end up getting married, and then later she threatens to kill him unless he divorces her, so he does. The end.
The other one's....I don't even know. The main character ends up getting 43 women (two of whom he actually marries), with whom he has 43 children. And three of the women are sisters, two of whom are sorceresses, and one of those turns the other into a flying horse for a while...it was weird.

Makes more sense than some webcomics I read :P (Or soap-operas I won't admit to having watched in days past)

some of those obscure culturally based stories can make for some of the more interesting and creative tales XD

A bit like when I read Orson Scott Card's "Enchantment" that tries to track closer to the original 'Old Rus' tale of Sleeping Beauty.

Really interesting some of the stories out of different cultures (a few of the odder Chinese idioms come to mind too).

i think they might make for really cool movies, too

It's a shame MTV stopped airing "Asian screen", that was usually weird and interesting.

It's pretty much the only thing I ever saw on MTV. I certainly never watched it for the music, hah! (It has none.)
Asian screen aired subtitled Asian movies. Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc. It only ran for a few years though, and that was years ago. But it was interesting, because it was definitely not Hollywood, which made it much less predictable. And obviously they have whole different mythologies and cultures to draw from.

Interesting- that would kinda be cool. I don't really watch any TV- didn't have cable when I was younger, and now it always seems like there's so many, much more interesting things to do.
....which leads to a whole lot of blank look moments from me when people start talking about TV shows.

it's weird how tv channels change their focus...MTV used to be for music videos and music related stuffs, the history channel used to be for history related documentaries, the discovery channel used to be for science related documentaries and discoveries...the travel channel used to be for travel related information...cartoon network...yeah, no longer just for cartoons

now the only two channels still dedicated to their focus are sci-fi (even though it's now scy-fy) and Turner Classic Movies XD

sadly i've only ever seen foreign films in random other channels if they happen to show it once or twice, but they do have interesting techniques

Elys, you're not missing anything on TV...there's nothing to watch despite the fact there are now hundreds to a thousand channels now @_@ also, HD seems like a total myth, to me...it's funny that people pay extra money just for the privilege when it's really the same shows with a higher contrast/brightness and STILL nothing worth watching lol
