Happy (belated) New Year! :)

The new year here brought with it a 30 degree (F) drop in temperatures. Still no snow, though, which makes me kind of wish the warmer weather would come back. >.<;

Going to the cinema is just not worth it to me. I'd rather spend the money on a book (it keeps me entertained for longer, and at the end of the ride I still have something to show for it).
Totally agree- movie theaters cost money (which is better spent on books), and I'm perfectly fine with waiting several months until it comes out on DVD and I can borrow it from the library. And by that time I have a pretty good idea of whether it's worth watching.

we do that too lol getting it from the library is the best, it's free! ya can't beat free, you can watch it as much as you like before you have to return it, and then you know if it's worth having in your collection if you'd care to have it >w<

Shadow brought all the pictures back! o.0
(There was a space for about a week where I was seeing that 'x' in a box for every single picture on the forum, but now they're all back to normal. ^_^)

In other news, how has the weather been for you guys? Other than four inches of snow when that big storm passed through, we haven't gotten much of anything that could be described as winter weather up here (it was over 50 degrees yesterday :stare: ).

One of my coworkers also mentioned that her nephews down in Texas would go to school in shorts and t-shirts, despite 30 degree temperatures in the morning, because it would be over 70 degrees by the afternoon. :blink:

weather has been 30s and 40s recently here...not much of usual winter for us either, but personally i am not complaining...as much as i ADORE snow, i really wanted a good ol' California winter this year and we pretty much got that...just a couple times where it snowed enough to be shoveled and one day when everything was closed due to weather even though the weather was perfectly fine (i think they were missing snow days so they invented one lol)

but 70s? that's kinda scary...i dare not imagine what it'd be like in summer if winter is hitting 70s Dx

I have brought back your color! :lol:

Yah... winter here was pretty much a week and a half of snow (with about a foot and a half over a weekend) and now it's back to low 50s. Tis lovely ^.^

People were ice-skating on the street a few weeks back for a few days, but apart from that it's mostly been wet, mild and windy.

pretty disturbing that there doesn't seem to be much middle ground...across the board looks like people are getting relatively warm winter or buried in more snow than normal o.O

i wonder how many areas of the world actually got exactly the kind of winter they expect and compare with previous years as well...slowly extremes are creeping in and taking over the planet >.<

we're dooooooooooooooooooomed O_O!! *dramatic sting plays*

And I remember thinking that the winter would probably be colder than normal since the summer was so cool and wet. :huh:

As long as it doesn't mean a blistering hot summer and freezing cold winter this year... >.<;

who knows...the weatherman usually struggles for a good prediction, but since a little before the year began, they've been more wrong than ever....so i can just see the weather being totally erratic throughout the year, pretty much the opposite anyone would predict at any given time lol

maybe we will have days that are super bad, but the rest would be less extreme or opposite expectations....so overall cool summer and another warm winter, perhaps? this is gonna be an interesting year to watch in terms of climate...most evident of climate change compared to any previous years, i think >.<

But when Avi Loeb of Harvard University saw the Fermi results, he realised he knew what might be happening. You could get a gamma-ray burst if the two black holes were enveloped inside a very massive star. "It's sort of like a pregnant woman with twins in her belly," he says. Once the black holes merged, the star would collapse and trigger intense beams of gamma rays.

So, wait, when her twins merge the woman explodes in a burst of gamma rays? :ninja:

err...maybe because it would be the reverse of how she got said twins in the first place thereby destroying the universe because of anti-birth?

yeah....weird analogy they used...i would have gone with oil droplets in water, myself (this is how the incredible hulk was born?)

So, WAY late to horn in on the weather conversation, but I just wanted to mention this past weekend (a proper Utah late-winter weekend)

Bunch of the snow melted over Friday night, huge flakes falling in a thick blanket over saturday morning, and by saturday evening it was melted down to even less than was there when the snow started falling and almost shirt-sleeves weather outside...
Followed by a foot of new snow covering everything the next morning.

aw didnt last? sounds like summer is really pushing to be early then XD

the average snowfall here is around 3 inches...storm yesterday spat at least 12 over the whole day until around noon today o.o

now that spring is nearing, all the snow that wasn't all winter came down in a day and a half apparently lol

very beautiful, though...glad we don't have to go anywhere, we'd have to dig our way out of the garage XP

We haven't had much of any snow at all since that one big storm. Some very cold days, yes, but we've had more rain than snow up here for February.
...not that rain's really any better when it's just above freezing. :ermm:
